This Sephora has improved so much in recent months. I've been coming here since they opened their store so I've seen a slew of employees and I can say that their current staff is incredibly sweet and attentive. I always prefer coming to this location instead of Fashion Valley because it's much less busy and the store feels more open. Although this store is laid out much better, they don't carry all the products that you'll find at the Fashion Valley store. Some of the niche brands like Milk Makeup and Ouai haircare are not available here (at least not yet). There's also no Lancôme makeup in this location, just in case any of you were wondering. Apart from that I find that their selection of makeup is amazing! They have everything you could ask and I find that everything is well stocked. If you're unsure about purchasing something then get a sample, they're always very generous about their samples here. You can get up to 3 samples per area (that would be makeup, skincare, and fragrance). I've come here multiple times to just browse and ask for samples of things that I've been considering purchasing and the staff has been nothing but helpful. It's because of that kind of customer service that I've actually purchased full sizes of the things I get samples of. This is a great Sephora location to visit if you don't like dealing with bigger crowds and actually want that one on one attention from the staff. read more

Went to buy some make up, I could not find what I wanted, the custumer sales ladies were not helpful at all, they were chatting and eating, everytime I asked for help they will answer that they do not have the product and went back to their private conversation. I felt unattended, never going back, even the lady at the cashier was rude. I told her about their lack of customer service, and she did not care. Wondering if there is a manager in that store. On 12/21/20 I visited this location. I went in to exchange two products. The cashier said she would need assistance because she has never done an exchange. That part is totally understandable but the moment the next two ladies came into the picture, thats when the problem began. The lady assisting the cashier started whispering into her ear. Very unprofessional to start off with because when training someone how to do an exchange you do not need to keep it a secret. I leaned forward to look at their samples on display but the lady thought I was trying to eaves drop and quickly stopped talking. I found it strange but kept looking around while she explained to her how to exchange my products. I provided two receipts ( perhaps this was my mistake) One receipt was from Jcpenny Sephora and the newer receipt was from the Sephora in fashion valley. The cashier quickly gave me the products back and said I cannot exchange Jcpenny products. I said ok, but these were purchased at Sephora outside of Jcpenny. I picked up the 2nd receipt and showed it to her. A third lady now enters the conversation. This part is what pissed me off. She walks up to the second register furthest away from me and starts to yell "We do not accept Jcpenny" by this point there is a line forming behind me. Which was embarrassing. I told the cashier which was in front of me if she could show her the newer receipt so she could see I purchased it at Sephora, not JCP. The lady in the middle kept whispering and giggling. The third woman then yells out again "Sorry we cannot give you a refund for those products, they are too old." Again I asked the cashier if she could explain to her that I would like to exchange my foundation for a darker shade. I am not trying to get any money back. This lady lacked professionalism. She never walked up to me to talk to me, she screamed across two other women to speak to me. She kept agreeing with the lady whispering and rolling her eyes. The cashier was very uncomfortable and the people behind me began getting upset. To be clear, my purchase was made in October. I don't understand why the lady who seemed to be a manager acted out this way. That was very humiliating. read more

I hate to write this review but I've been disappointed the last two times I've come to this location. I purchased a gift card today and once I got home, realized they didn't put the actual card inside the gift card box. Been dealing with the run around between calling the store and also their 1-877 number. I'm going back to the store tomorrow for a new card... extremely inconvenient since its the crazy Xmas shopping time and I'd prefer not deal with going to the mall again. Twice now when I went in to get Anastasia's dip brow, they were out of the color I needed. This time, they ordered it for me and I'll be getting it within a few days with shipping fees waived. So that was okay. Most of the staff is very friendly tho, I had a handful ask if I needed help and Gabby was great. Maybe I'm just irritated right now cause I have to go back to fix something that shouldn't even have been a problem in the first place. We'll see how it goes when I try to get a new card. read more

The best thing about this Sephora is the location (close to home). But i find they have limited items as compared to other Sephora locations. And they always "sell/run out "of their VIB specials or 500 point deals. I literally go there once the deal is posted online, and everytime, it never fails that they run out. Might as well order online, which is what I do 90% of the time. I only result in shopping in store when I need to make a last minute purchase. Compared with Fashion Valley or UTC, their selection is definitely lacking. Its unfortunate because if you live in the South Bay, the only other sephoras are in the JC Penney locations which also are very limited. Customer service, for the most part, is good. I had a great purchasing experience with a consultation where I was shown the best products for my skin and how to use it. They made me break out however and when I went to return them the staff was ridiculously rude! Their policy is any return at any time for any reason but They made me feel like a total loser for exchanging the products, even trying to tell me I couldn't do it, and then trying to return a less expensive item I had purchased on the same receipt as if I wouldn't notice. They also saddled me with a new product that was double the price of my original without telling me. I will never go back to Sephora now that i know how stuck up the sales clerks are. read more

Horrible customer service. Waited for 20 minutes for help, only to be told to wait longer for someone with some kind of actual knowledge of the items they were suggesting. If I am going to purchase over 100 dollars in face creams I would love to be informed by someone who actually knows what they are selling. There was a ton of employees but they are all so full of themselves that no one pays attention to the customers. It is not the first time this happens at this location. I'm updating my review because it seems as though they replaced their workers here, which is a plus! They're much less pushy, but when you need help, they're always eager to. If they're busy, they have someone who isn't help you out. I also like that it's usually not busy here. It leaves a lot more room to move around, and to have a whole selection to yourself. I've never actually had anything that I wanted be out of stock, perhaps I've just been lucky when I come here. I come here quite often (much more often than I should, VIB...) and lately my visits have been much more pleasant since my last. Not only did I get my concealer to match, with assistance, I got to take home samples before I decided to buy. Unlike before, the staff knows what they are talking about. Also 5-stars because it is WAY less crowded than Fashion Valley's! Custom 45-minute or 90-minute makeovers are FREE if you're a VIB Rouge (buyer rewards club and spend over $1,000.00 per year) otherwise they are free for everyone if you purchase $50.00 in product. So....My bridal makeup artist cancelled the day before the rehearsal dinner due to a serious health emergency. I panicked, and yeah, probably cried a little bit because it's so hard to find a legit bridal makeup artist at the last minute and just two days before the wedding! I called Sephora and gave them my sob story. The manager immediately scheduled me with Alyssa to do my rehearsal dinner makeup the next day. I was dubious since I had had my makeup done with several Sephoras before and usually consider it a hit-or-miss. I had already gone through a trial run with my bridal makeup artist and she knew what look I wanted, so I was nervous. The next day I showed up at 10 AM and was greeted by almost the entire staff. They sympathized with my ordeal and assured me that I was in good hands! I was given a quick and relaxing facial with de-puffing eye pads. Heaven!!! Shortly thereafter, Alyssa sat me down at the vanity and after I told her exactly what I wanted, she made it happen- only better than I had envisioned! Alyssa is truly talented and passionate about her work. She took her time with me and even showed me how to match my skin tone to all of the products in the store using a pretty neat little device. After she finished I was so excited at how pretty I looked! I went for the more subtle faux lashes with a bronze and glowy look, which was her favorite style of makeup to do. She. Nailed it. Next time I have a special occasion I'm going to make sure she does my makeup from now on! So thank you, Sephora ladies and Alyssa especially, for saving my life! read more

The customer service is awful. I went in this evening and a very sweet young man helped me find what I needed. I went to the register. 2 ladies in front of me. One was at the register. It took at least 8 minutes for the man to finish the first lady. Then the second lady I waited at least 10 more minutes while they chatted. I got out of line put my make up down and proceeded to walk out. I get to the door and two ladies who worked there were talking and laughing in conversation. Why couldn't a second checker come to help people pay rather than enjoying a conversation. Its ridiculous It was 8 PM i wanted to pay and go. I have to find a new place for make up. I went to return something I had bought and got cash back , I later figure out the cash I got back from this store was fake . I called and talked to the manager and he was extremely rude telling me it's not important of it wasn't a 50 or 100. My last visit to Sephora warrants a review because I actually had some interaction with a make up artist. I was looking into purchasing a kit and wasn't sure if it would work with my skin tone and really how to apply everything (I'm not really into make up). She was super friendly and made me feel pretty comfortable when applying the make up. She only applied two on me and I'm kind of a sucker for friendly people so I ended up buying the kit. Luckily, it seems to be working out for me. The only downside was that this visit, I had to go ask someone for help. Usually whenever I come here, they will ask if we need help even before us asking. It took a few minutes to track someone down because the people at the register seemed a little busy with whatever they were doing. If you're looking to buy something, I'd recommend going to the store to test it out and if it works, go buy it online. There's always deals online and even though the store gives you a few samples, I think it's more worth it to go online for their samples and freebies. Just my 2 cents. read more

I was pleasantly surprised when I came here the other day to return something I bought during their last VIB sale. One of the employees informed me that if you bought something during quarantine, you could exchange it for something else and get a 10% discount. It's a small discount but it was still a nice gesture and an added bonus on top of their return policy being more flexible than usual. Wow! Those who know me know that I am very low maintenance when it comes to make up -- I use it only on special occasions. So when I got a gift card here, I was a little intimidated coming in. No reason to be at all. Everyone was super friendly, but not at all pushy. Offered help, gave it as necessary, then let me browse on my own. Got some bare minerals make-up which is just my speed. I don't live in this area, and was just visiting family, but if all Sephoras are like this, then I'll be sure to visit more often! read more

I love Sephora. So. Much. Since I'm kinda against people sometimes (i.e. I don't like Fashion Valley very much), most of my Sephora purchases have been done online. However, everyone at this location is super friendly and helpful. Don't have any complaints there. But on a recent trip to Fashion, I noticed that this location doesn't have as large a selection of Sephora brand fake lashes. But then again, this place has Sephora's Glitter Eyeliner in stock. I LOVE this store!! I am a makeup junkie and they always have what I'm looking for and if I have something in mind but not know a brand, the workers help out! The workers... are amazing! Their customer service in the best I've seen in most places. I walked in once to get color matched on the computer (they use a device to scan 3 parts of your body then the computer tells you what brand would be best for you - pretty awesome!) The girl who helped me was Remi. She matched me to a PERFECT color. Then she gave me a sample of the foundation and I left. I came back a wk later (the samples last a while) and she remembered me. The other girls did too. They all said welcome back and even asked how I'm liking the products I bought the previous trips. It's so great that they remember! The products: Sephora has a huge selection of just about every major brand... which is super nice! I love that we are able to test them out and see how they look before we commit to them (since high end makeup is pricey!) They also give you a beautiful little gift for your birthday! I went into the Eastlake location last Wednesday and was attended by Dali. She was amazing! She helped me match my foundation perfectly. She had me stand by the window to get the outside lighting and make sure it was the prefect match. Came in to buy a perfume and the cashier did not swipe my VIB card with my purchase. I handed it to her and she just set it down. I wasn't aware of her not swiping the card, but I went home to check my purchases and noticed it wasn't on my list. Fortunately, the VIB support is pretty instant and they were able to add it on without difficulty. I live 10 mins away, but it is still a good distance to drive when it is away from many things. The only solution the store gave me, was to return and repurchases the item. Very inconvenient! This store always finds a way to disappoint. read more

This is by the worst Sephora I've ever been to. Where do I even start?! While it's the only non-JC Penny Sephora location for miles, I only shop here when I'm forced to because I don't have the time to drive to a further location. I have given this location countless opportunities to compensate for past indiscretions, and time after time, they continue to leave me sorry for ever stepping foot in the store. Every single time I have come to this Sephora they have ALWAYS (literally, always, no exaggeration) been out of some product I've wanted. Even when I've checked online to see if that store had the product in-stock. Even when I've called the store, asking if a product was in-stock. Even when I've specifically asked an associate when my desired product would be replenished (I was given several different dates over a week and a half span - all of which failed to produce the promised product.). I get here and there a store will be out of things I may want - but literally every, single time?! Since products to purchase are usually out of stock it isn't any stretch of the imagination that perhaps the testers would be out of stock as well. On a couple occasions, a few products I wanted to sample were empty or not even offered. Then the second most frustrating thing about this location is the LINE! I've honestly never seen anything like the line in this store! It doesn't matter what time of day it is. It could be Tuesday at noon and there will be a line almost to the door. It's like Black Friday everyday, all day, just no good deals! I've never been here without waiting in a line for at least 10 minutes. Who has the time for that?! I'm assuming it's due to the lack of Sephoras in the area, but come on, implement some sort of strategy to ensure the customer gets out in some sort of a timely fashion. Lastly is the customer service. I have encountered only one employee (in the last five years I've been a customer), who really did go above and beyond in helping answer all questions I had, and delivered impeccable customer service. That was about two years ago, and I haven't seen her since. Since then almost all the employees appear incompetent when asked a question about a product. To top it off they are blatantly rude. During my last visit, once again, the checkout line was ridiculously long; almost to the door. I finally get up to the counter, and while the cashier is ringing up my products, I politely mention that I would like one of the rewards products. Once I said that, the cashier expressed visual disdain for my request, and first mumbled something about not having the product, but then the cashier behind her (who just so happened to be ringing up my mother) heard her, and pointed to the big bucket behind the counter, where that specific reward item was located. Right then my mother asked for my email address (she always uses my account), and my cashier quickly interjected and asked if we were together. I replied, yes that she is my mother, and the cashier then took my products, put it on the counter behind her (where my mother was being rung up), and told me to go there to be checked out. I was completely taken aback but obliged out of embarrassment. I honestly have no idea why she couldn't ring me up and opted to help someone else instead; but that was the last straw for this Sephora location. Never again. read more

So get ready, this is a 2 for 1. So I have always been a Sephora over Ulta person but one store in the whole district has changed my opinion. I went in to the Otay ranch store a month ago and was treated extremely rudely by one of the managers and his staff. I went in at 8:15 and had asked for help and was asked to wait which is totally okay since I appreciate when sales people finish talking to a client before moving on unless they are using break away statements to multitask and service multiple clients. However there was only 3 of us in the store and 4 employees, the manager did not approach me again until 8:45 and it was not to help me like he said but to tell me they were closing. Wow. Fifteen minutes till close and his keys were hanging in the door ready to kick out customers. THEN today I went in and was reluctant to ask for his help but as 2 other employees had already dismissed me I had no other choice. After I explain what I'm looking for in fragrance he pointed me towards the ones I just said I didn't care for! Was he even listening?!?!?! Then he says to me as I'm speaking about the middle notes and what I'm experiencing, this guy *deeply inhales* "well I'm going on my break I'm going to have someone else help you." First of all a break at 5:40 when the store is closing is a sign of poor time management, second who thinks that is acceptable behavior in sales? I waited next to fragrance for ten minutes then got in line for the new employee to help me even though she was the only one at the register. All the while the guy and his other rbf employee were standing at the door with his keys again hanging off of the door. This was the worse retail experience I've had. I am not sure if they just didn't think I had money but I feel like there's some level of discrimination since I seemed to be the only one he was ignoring, actually correction, my sister was in the back by the skin care and the woman in that section refused to give her a sample because she wasn't a beauty insider. I don't think she realized my sister was with me but either way my sister is 20 and shouldn't be treated so disrespectfully no matter what age/race/financial background. This was completely unacceptable behavior for any retailer. I would suggest you go to fashion valley and ask for maria, she's the fragrance expert and is not completely incompetent. I will be emailing customer service and corporate because I would not want anyone else to be on the receiving end of this kind of behavior. read more

I love this location! It's super close to my house, everyone that works there is super sweet. Today I was in line for a while, and another employee came over and checked me out at a mobile station. I asked about the "25 days of minis" I keep getting emails about. She was unsure what I was talking about so I showed her the email (it was online only, duh) but she hooked it up with 4 or 5 samples of some great products! I can't wait to try them!! Thanks sephora, you guys rock! Did I mention I started going here after the Ulta store close by disappointed me for the last time? No one ever offers help, no samples of the actual make up...how am I going to spend hundreds of dollars on nonrefundable make up if I don't even know if I like it. Psh. read more
