I am a medically disabled veteran. My fiancée went shopping and I needed to sit down. I was sitting down at the make up tables and an employee told me I wasn't allowed to sit there although I told her that I'm disabled. She told me to sit at the edge of the window as if I was a child that could bend over that low. First of all, the store smells terrible and you can smell it from the street. I love their selection but I am very frustrated with their customer service. I went in today looking for cover-up and asked a sales person for help after wandering around the store trying to get help. She told me to wait at the beauty counter. I work in customer service. I am also a makeup artist, so to have such disrespect from this location will prevent me from coming back. I rather drive to the city or go to Stonestown to go to Sephora. I do not like using the word "hate" but I hated this location and the service. It was a busy Sunday and I totally understand when the consultants are busy but that doesn't give them the right to just dust me off their shoulders. I had asked a girl who I thought was gorgeous and looked really friendly for help on a foundation, although I am an artist I also love getting feedback from other people. When I asked her between two foundations she didn't even give me advice. She just said what works for her and not even giving other brands a try. What I had noticed also was that they will up sell you the more expensive product without an explanation. I do not appreciate that. She was speaking to me very monotone, not even with a little smile on her pretty face. Then I tried asking another girl and she was sweet but also didn't bother helping me more than just her own opinion. I myself am not one to hate on other people. But for such a beautiful person can be so ugly if their personality is sh!t. I totally understand being busy but I was the only person who was in that area and asked for genuine help... I think my 1st revue was removed some how so I will re-post it. Lots of staff at the Burlingame location but not all are helpful. The floor person was knowledgeable and friendly but the cashiers were not. Two female cashiers were talking among themselves and it was clearly not about business, all the while we stood there being ignored. No eye contact when asked questions about the free gift my wife qualified for and no thank you for coming in. She was in a rush and very cold and curt. Not a company asset in any way. I had entered the premises & already sensed weird energy at this specific Sephora. I was specifically looking for a NARS concealer & proceeded to nicely ask one of the workers near me. I couldn't find my shade so I just went to the cash register to pay for a perfume. The same worker who had 'helped' me followed me all the way to the cash register & accused me of taking a concealer. I had occasion this week to visit three Sephora stores in Burlingame, Foster City and Hillsdale Shopping Center. The staff in Burlingame and Hillsdale were EXCELLENT, FRIENDLY, PLEASANT and KNOWLEDGEABLE . Not the case in Foster City. I don't think there were more than three and the one that I asked a question of (after waiting for her to finish a long conversation with the other girl about her lunch was literally useless. Rude, absolutely no knowledge of products and acted like she was terribly bored. Her last comment ~~~ do you want to buy one , or not!?!? Not sure what that "one" was. This is my staple location to go to since its close to everything in Burlingame. It's a easy stop in for makeup refills and skincare purchases during my lunch break. The gals here have been super nice and will make little samples for me so I can take my staples with me when I travel. The line was super long here during their VIB sales. My skin is a sensitive nightmare. It's been like that all my life and I've wasted tons of funds on makeup and skin care. But thanks to Sephora I don't have to waste money anymore. I love that almost anything I want to try, they will make a sample for me. Last visit I picked up some of my go to philosophy present, but wanted to try their hope in a jar tinted moisturizer and supernatural. All I have to do is ask and next thing I know, Liliana has prepared two nice sized samples for me to take home. (Actually, this is great for when I go traveling so I don't carry more than 3 oz and have my make up confiscated - hate when that happens!) I know what you're thinking, but no, I don't just keep getting samples. If it is something that works for my skin, then if anything I buy it over and over again. Everytime they ask if I need help, I say no thanks Im good...but what I REALLY wanted to ask was what shade of tinted moisturizer OR liquid foundation matches my skin-- but then I realized I wouldnt only want 1 persons opinion, and thats weird to ask multiple people JUST to make sure (especially if its $30,40,45). Not survey time. So i try on the colors but can NEVER tell if it matches exactly...how can you pick when they have a range of up to 10+ shades sometimes?! But this store overall, I prefer to take the drive to Palo Alto Seohora and get samples of products to try and enjoy trying out new make up and skin care. It was just weird seeing it there in the middle of everything else, but then again, Burlingame Ave has changed a lot in the past few years. I was also dissatisfied with their touch screen Fragrance info provider because it didn't have a "fruity" subsection. it only had floral, spicy, fresh, and I think woodsy? but no fruity? I also wish they could provide the notes next to the physical fragrance itself so I kind of have an idea which ones to try and which to avoid. I was only happy to have been offered samples because Ulta and Macy's doesn't offer such on fragrances. I asked for a couple to try and test the longevity. I had to wait outside in line due to COVID, but the worker out front made sure that each person in line was taken care of efficiently. For instance, he brought out someone else's pickup order so they didn't even have to enter the store. For me, I knew exactly what I wanted, so he had someone inside grab it and he rang me up out front. I didn't have to set foot in the store and got my item in maybe 7 minutes. This is the most quite Sephora ever! Excellent location! I've walked in here twice and each time there's barely anyone. Why?? It's located where all the good restaurants are. Mingalaba is just across the street. This branch is loaded with goods that the branch in Valley Fair is loaded with. It is in fact nice to shop here since you can shop in peace and quite. I bought two eyeliners and some lotion and spent longer time here just because it feels nice to be in a quite store for a change. The staff are friendly and helpful. Parking can be tough sometimes. Since Burlingame Avenue can be busy especially during lunch or dinner times. There is the metered public parking behind the building or the metered parking in front of the store. read more

I've been to this Sephora twice now and this location is definitely not my favorite. The main reason is, because I can never get the service that I need. I was having a hard time finding a sales person on the floor. I looked around for about 7-10 minutes and I finally was able to approach a lady who seemed busy. I only had a quick question and when I asked her if she could answer my question about a smashbox product she was very stand-offish. She finally checked the bottom drawer to see if they were out of the product, which was all I wanted to know and yes they were out. I'll say that it's been extremely hard to find a Sephora where the sales people don't have an attitude. I simply don't understand why that this. Anywho, I really needed some concealer and so I finally found another brand that was close to the color I usually use. The good part of my visit to this location was that I did not go home empty handed and the cashier was the only one who was actually friendly and personable. Overall l I got what I needed and look forward to going to another location next time I need makeup. Sorry Sephora, but you guys really need to work on your customer service skills. I didn't even want to give this store a 1 star, but it wouldn't let me post without. I was in this store and walking around looking for a brand I've used and another brand my daughter used for 15 minutes, with not one employee acknowledging me. I like to be left alone when I shop, but when I'm making circles and eye contact with your employees having a full on conversation at the register, I would think someone would have the decency to ask "do you need help finding anything"......but no; it did not happen. I walked out of the store and have not returned since; I will gladly go out of my way to go down to the Stanford location, where I know those employees will be more willing to help assist. The customer service reps here are hit or miss. On June 15 I had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with Matthew at cash wrap. As I checked out, I asked what one of the customer service rep's name was and he asked my why I needed it. I politely declined and said I can just give feedback via survey. Matthew then tells the cashier charging me out that I don't get a survey. So as my receipt is printed (wasn't given the option of it being emailed) he snatched the last part of the receipt, crumbles it, REFUSES to give it to me, and throws it away. I ask him for all my receipts and tell him that I know it's a survey. With a smug attitude he lies to me and says it's a return survey and since I didn't do a return, I don't need. I continue to tell him that I still want ALL my receipts. He says that they've changed their system and mocks me with how long he's worked as Sephora. He crosses his arms and condescendingly tells me 'Have a nice day.' This from a customer service rep WTF?! As I left, I called the Rouge customer service and filed a complaint. I was told the store or district manager would contact me but guess what, no one has. What was I going to write on the survey; Sandra racially profiled me as I looked at the back stock for a Tarte eyeliner. Sephora, you failed hard on this one. read more

Went into store tonight and a lady was great to offer a sample of Ms Dior fragrance; when I asked another lady, tall with long red hair, to help me find Sephora brand bronzer, she looked in the drawer and said we don't have it, and walked away. She never offer to order the product online and ship to me, or offer a different brand. I guess if you don't help customers, you don't need to work. And you wonder why they close retail stores? Bad experience at this location especially the cashier! Very rude and not personable. The other employees were very considerate and offered assistance as well as a basket. Back to the cashier, after giving her my email and paying for my items, she just says, "Thank you!" She didn't offer a bag or wrap up my items like I'm used to. I've been here a few times over the last several weeks. This location could do so much better in offering customers a great shopping experience. The management and staff need a customer service refresher course. There's this one guy (maybe the store manager?) who flits around like he's got a million things to do and can't be bothered assisting customers. Umm, there are two people in the store and it's your job. Make an effort. How hard is it to answer a question? Cashiers who look like they'd rather be somewhere else. I have been into this store a few times in preparation for getting what I need to diy my makeup for my upcoming wedding and have been impressed each time! Once I went in to scout out products and was given some very helpful advice by Jackie that was perfect, and totally not pushy or over selling which I greatly appreciated! Second time was to get my makeup done and both woman (one prepped my skin and the other did my makeup) were awesome!!! I requested a natural makeup look that I could replicate myself. She walked me through how to do each step and used colors I already had at home to reduce what I needed to purchase....SUPER HELPFUL AND FANTASTIC! She told me I could only have three - OK, thanks I am aware of that and am not here to get unlimited samples. After arguing with me that no foundation oxidizes she got me one sample and then forgot about me when I had already asked for two other foundation samples. When I tracked her down she muttered something about being busy and gave me the second sample, unlabeled, in the same bag as my other unlabeled foundation sample. When other people work out = look smokin' enough for an instagram-worthy selfie. When I work out = I look like Nick Nolte. It's not a pretty sight, but over the last 3 1/2 weeks I've taken 50 Pilates classes and while some parts of me are looking tighter, there's def parts of me that are getting run ragged. So I came to Sephora for a little pick-me-up in between classes to get some of my make-up basics that I'd run out of and a few treats for myself so that when I do get ready for a day that doesn't involve 4-hours of pilates, I won't look sub-human. The store lives on a pretty prime corner in downtown Burlingame, so don't forget to bring your quarters for parking because as progressive as this city is they still use coin-operated parking meters that only take quarters in a world where people only carry plastic. It's bright and airy inside and though it's a little tighter that most other Sephora's they carry just as much merch, if not more. Their displays are dangerously well put-together and they know exactly what I don't need but want to but and place it right on the route to the register. The line corral here is a little short and old people are clearly very confused by it based on the one woman who was so close to me I thought she was going to ask if I'd pay for her stuff, too. When my Sephora account didn't immediately come up in their system the girl at the register took the time to find it using other information and update my file so it wouldn't happen again, even though she could have just waived me off and taken care of the next person... who was that crazy old woman who was trying to juke my personal space. read more

My husband and I were on a day date and in Burlingame before we were supposed to go to dinner with some friends. We'd been out all day, and so I flipped down the car mirror to freshen my lipstick. I was aghast at how none of my make-up seemed to be on my face anymore! I spotted the Sephora and had my husband circle around while I dashed in, intending to buy some basics. I was the equivalent of a sure thing -- from a sales perspective, that is. Whoever helped me would have had a modest but quick sale -- I needed tinted moisturizer, powder, blush, eyeliner, STAT.
