They help me color match my skin and suggest products both good for my face and popular. They can also ring you out by a POS system on the phone if you're paying by credit or at the cash register. I had a positive experience here. I came in needing help, not sure what I needed and was basically overwhelmed. A very helpful greeter set me up with a very patient associate (I wish I could remember her name). The very patient associate helped me find what I needed, gave me tips for application and I left happy. I didn't like I was being upsold and felt like I was just given helpful info. The store itself isn't that big and it was very crowded when I was there, so it can get claustrophobic and hot in there quickly. If you need help with something, know the associates are very helpful, but you might need to wait. The plus side is that if you wait it out, the associates are very helpful and give you undivided attention. read more

I would avoid this store if possible. Several of the female associates I interacted with were dismissive and unhelpful, which made the experience uncomfortable. That said, the associate whose name starts with a J (I believe Jeremy) was excellent -- friendly, patient, and genuinely helpful. I highly recommend Tarte, high quality product. I need to explore other products from this brand. This Sephora Studio is much smaller than the one in Bay Ridge and Soho. The layout though is quite similar to those other locations. I asked where Tarte was and my shade and Juliana quickly guided me to it and found it within seconds. Quick and courteous service. I usually have nothing bad to say about this Sephora, but I went in today looking for the Rihanna gloss bomb and to my surprise there was a 50% discount sign that said "50% off today!" right underneath the glosses on the top shelf. I was super excited and decided I wanted to purchase. When I got to check out I asked to confirm if the gloss was 50% off and the worker said that she would check, at which point the manager came over and confirmed that the glosses were actually not 50% off and that it only applied to select products. I then asked her if I could take her over to show how misleading the sign is given that it is right underneath the gloss bombs. When I showed her, all she could offer me was "oh yeah I'm so sorry about that" and walked away. I am super disappointed given that whenever this has happened at any other Sephora they have honored the sign and what it says. Not a good look at all. read more

I came in because online customer service was incredibly unhelpful. I received a product that I've used 5 times already and is my go to in an online order and it was defective. I opened the tube and the entire inner contents of the foundation stick fell out as it must've cracked at the base during shipping. I initiated online chat to try and get a replacement and Stefanie said they couldn't replace it because I damaged/dropped it which I did not. I tried to explain what happened and she just kept stating they don't replace anything damaged after delivery. I used to work for Sephora so I know their in store returns/exchanges are usually quite simple so I was surprised she was giving me such a hard time/blaming me for something I didn't do. I went to the store prepared to have to do a lot of explaining and begging but shopped around a bit first. It's definitely a smaller location but the staff was very helpful in pointing out where certain sections were and helping me locate what I needed. The check out line was long but the two cashiers and mobile check out made it move really fast. I got to the front and said I wanted to purchase some new products but also exchange a damaged item and I didn't even have to explain what happened the girl just apologized for it coming defective and swapped it out for me as and then charged me for the other $150 dollars of product I was getting. I came in upset and left happy so thanks to the team at this location. I wanted this to be a 1 star review for my online experience but didn't want that 1 star to reflect poorly on this individual location because they were great! read more

Don't expect 200+ brands of makeup, skincare and haircare. Don't expect the craziness found at many larger Sephora locations. Do expect personalized and customized service. Do expect a nice, orderly layout. I'm referring to the new Sephora Studio located in the heart of Williamsburg. I missed the opening night/launching of this new location but visited a few days later. My opinion--very positive. The Studio is akin to a boutique where the artists pride themselves in offering customized assistance and mini (or full) makeovers. Raise your hand if you've visited a larger Sephora and couldn't find assistance anywhere in the store! Not with this Studio. You'll be assured of receiving help if you need it and when you need it. Fingers crossed that this service is consistent. I browsed the different brands and didn't miss the ones that were not available. Not sure about other shoppers, but I'm content with 50+ brands. I don't need 200+. Less is more. Just as long as they carry cruelty free brands. Note: many are NOT. I inquired about a matte lipstick to the lovely makeup artist, Kiki by informing her that it was impossible to apply, feeling so dry. Next thing I knew, I was given a seat for a mini lip makeover. Sweet. She let me know that I needed a few products/steps to allow the lipstick to glide on more easily: a balm, lip primer followed by the actual lipstick (Hollywood by Anastasia). Voila! I was lip ready. There was no pressure to buy any products. I didn't. And in case I forgot the products used--fear not--they were emailed to me for future reference. I stopped by here when I went to visit a friend. It's so cute and literally compliments the neighborhood and it's next to an Apple store and across the street from Whole Foods, Duane Reade, and a T-mobile. I was here on opening day . Customer service was good even though they were very busy . They took their time to swatch and test out products and didn't leave me hanging . The aisles are well planned out . Range of cosmetics: they have most of their major brands on display and are helpful in ordering something online / shade that they don't carry in store . Range of skincare : their skincare section is smaller compared to other stores and is located towards the back . Again they carry the favorites but if you are going for a specific face mask or a skin care product call before hand / ask for help Range of hair care products : so this was limited and they do carry some of the hair care flat irons / curlers but would be wise to double check before going in. Tip for moms and nannies : For those going in here with a stroller, the aisles are pretty tight for a single stroller. I don't think a double would make it through . I've not tested their beauty services or classes yet but will keep this area posted . read more

I booked my first ever make up service at this Sephora location for a maternity shoot I had later that afternoon. The staff is incredibly kind and let me tell you about the main event, Angelique, who made me look like a literal GODDESS. Y'all. I am a very minimalist makeup lady myself but I needed to bring the drama to the shoot and Angelique went above and beyond to make this mom feel like a Queen. We had an amazing time connecting about motherhood and she told me everything about all of the products she chose for me and why she chose them (long lasting performance, no flashback on camera, color contrast, etc.) Angelique worked such magic that in the store other staff members and shoppers kept coming by being blown away. She is truly a gifted makeup artist and a gem of a human (and a fellow native New Yorker ayyyy!). True to her name, You are in the hands of an angel getting your makeup done with Angelique. I stopped in on a Thursday afternoon since I had some time to kill and wanted to find a few new products. The location as other Yelpers mention is probably 1/2 the size of the smallest Sephora you have set foot in. The skincare selection is I think only 2 small rows and most of the store is devoted to makeup. I was able to find someone to give me recommendations without much trouble and they were able to quickly fit me in to apply a few products. The makeup artist told me that they had just reached the 1month mark of their opening - congrats! I found it a little odd that they can only apply a single type of product (i.e. contouring items) when I had expressed interest in a lip gloss, blush, highlighter and the contour palette. It seems weird since you'd think Sephora would want to have you get them applied by their stylists and want to buy the whole look - most people gravitate towards Sephora since they know its a no pressure approach and their employees are not working on commission. The employees are all very friendly and have great recommendations - definitely stop by if you're in need of some new face stuff. FYI - they don't have Charlotte Tilbury at this one yet (I've been stalking tons of Sephoras for this). read more

This was my first experience in the Bedford location in Brooklyn. I loved it!! It is a brand new shop with such friendly staff!! They make you feel welcomes as soon as you walk in. I made an appointment for makeup and was seated ASAP. The makeup artist I was scheduled with was "Kiki". She is professional, friendly, knowledgeable and funny. She had me laughing the whole time and gave me great makeup and skincare advice. I loved the look she gave me and will definitely request her for future bookings. Great job!! read more

This is Sephora's 'mini me' store. It's kind, sweet, naive (we'll see how they do after a few more months) but hasn't matured to the big Sephora because it's missing a LOT of makeup, skincare, and fragrance brands and products. There is also a very small checkout area with no grab and go travel size products available to snag before you check out. This location is more for the 'I'm in the area, have a date in an hour, ran out of x makeup so I gotta find something similar to what I'm used to and need a quick fix'. If you have a return purchased from another store, you'll be fine, but if you want to exchange, you just may not find the replacement (I couldn't). Good service and I was actually relieved I wasn't ignored like most Sephoras I go to because they're too crowded, make eye contact then walk past me without offering help. The staff here even went as far as pulling a product from the sales floor while I was at the counter and they all collaborated so well to try to help me. I appreciated that and really hope this store stays the same as far as service. I don't think they're meant to carry more products but they should call this the Sephora Express store so people can know the difference before arrival. Or, hopefully most people will be smart enough to check Yelp before arrival! read more

It's always difficult for me to purchase new makeup, because I truly do not know what to get for my skin (dry/oily/need it to last 12 hrs minimum). The worst sephora or any cosmetic shop I've ever been to. As mentioned in other reviews none of the sales associates will acknowledge you or talk to you. They ignore you or stare at you as if they think you might be stealing, or just stare through you vapidly. I've seen so many customers try to get assistance to no avail. It's laughable because the floor is teeming with staff, yet none of them seem to be doing anything but standing around talking to each other. Even if you tried to ask a question you couldn't get a word in. Samples are never restocked. Half the products you want to sample are just empty packaging- eyeliner, mascara, skincare. Just the worst, most off-putting vibe in this place. After coming in a few times today I finally vow never to go back. read more

I can't say enough about this- this is exactly how you prevent germs and gross breakouts! It took over 10mins simply to track down an employee and upon me inquiring more about the difference and reaching a conclusion on which product the I should get, the employee "helping" had the audacity to say "about time, that all you needed to say." I definitely did not feel welcomed to shop at this particular store nor will I be coming back to it. It did indeed smell like dog feces and strangely enough garlic there inside the store. One of the associates had pink eye.
