Egg: I asked for a well done fried egg (the main dish contains over easy) the egg was perfectly cooked and delicious. Steak: the steak pieces were generous and the seasoning on the meat...dangerous! There was a slice of provolone cheese melted on the egg and the sandwich also contained pieces of potatoes and tomatoes inside. When it came to taste, Seoul Prime felt very average. From the get-go, the raw Hanger Steak came out as cuts of irregular cubic chunks rather than the typically thinner slices. The meat itself was not stellar, even though it was tender. Pieces of fat were left on and it didn't seem like much of anything was really seasoned (and this is coming from someone who eats on the blander side). I expected the Marinated Rib Finger to be the most flavorful, but even that did not taste very marinated. At similar restaurants, the taste of the steak alone with maybe a dash of salt or wasabi is enough to carry the meal without much need for any other sauce. Here, I felt like I needed to save my steak with ssamjang, which tasted alright. Additionally, I would've liked a more traditional sesame oil-based sauce over the mustard, but that's personal preference. With this, the available sauces did not help make the steak any better. The sides we ordered (Soybean Brisket Stew & Volcano Egg Souffle) were average; there are definitely places in the area that do better on the sides department alone. From the ambiance to pricing of Seoul Prime, it's clear that the restaurant aims to present itself as a more upscale KBBQ experience compared to the many more casual KBBQ restaurants in the area. From dropping my fork off my plate when serving meat to continuously mentioning that they are new and conversing about all things not steak--our server's banter and visible lack of experience did not match the experience Seoul Prime seeks to give, even if they were really friendly. They also left our Marinated Rib Finger on for too long at the end, which definitely burnt due to the marinade. With the abundance of KBBQ restaurants in NoVa, I'm not sure I'd return.
