Until today this was a great place to have my FedEx packages delivered. Warning, do not go by what they state are store hours as they are not correct. I arrived at 4:55pm only to find it closed and looking like no one had been there for awhile. The saga started when I realized a package I had been waiting for hadn't arrived yet or at least I hadn't been notified of it's arrival. I checked FedEx's website that stated it arrived on Feb 28th and it's now March 8th. I am concerned that it is going to be shipped back. Today I was in office in East Van and this is in Newton but I figured store hours are 9am - 5pm so I can get in, get my package and they can still leave on time. I don't have to be concerned about my package being shipped back. That's not how it worked out at all. I get there with 5 minutes to spare and they are closed. I call their 1-800 only to be told that they usually close the stores at 430pm for their last unit check then go home. Great, then the hours should state that. If the store has hours of open until 5pm then that's not 430pm, that's 5pm. read more

Stored some furniture and boxes for 2 months to stage our home. We had to throw away anything that wasn't in a sealed box due to mouse infestation. Urine and droppings were all over everything. I had a very positive experience: I stoped by to find out how this works and the lady at the counter explained in a very plain language the sizes of the units and also offered me the first month free - I didn't have to ask for any specials or promotions. Had a rather pleasant experience with the Surrey location up until moving out. I'm an avid storage renter as work has me moving a lot therefore I have used several facilities throughout the country and for sure have experienced better service. All I have to say is beware of (1) periodical rate increases which they term as 'operating expenses' due to growth of their facility-that are not mention upon signing the move-in agreement; (2) Poor management communication (unfavourable customer service ) and (3) dirty units (I understand that storage facilities are prone to unwanted pests... but seriously management should ensure that the units are swept clean of mouse/rat/or whatever unwanted pest feces when units are moved into much the same as the management expects renters to clean up the unit upon moving out... it is just curtesy). That said this location gets 2 stars because of those things mentioned (my experience with them). I have no experience with other locations (only dealt with the Surrey, BC location when it was Access Storage and now Storage For Your Life) so I can not comment if the same practices are rehearsed at their other location. Receiving superior customer service is essential to me in any relationship/agreement I get into that requires the exchange of my money. All I can say is to please do your research and look well into a place where you plan on keeping your belongs at. Cheers! read more

We initially intended to become a short term storage user, thinking we would need to use the locker for six months or less. Their rates were more than others in the area, but still competitive. Their lockers appeared to be well maintained and in a concrete building. We liked that and thought their slightly higher rates were worth it. Due to unforeseen circumstances, became a long term storage renter of a large unit. We received a notice of rent increase after the first six months, then another at the 12 months mark. We are just reaching 18 months and have received another rent increase. Their contract says that they can review the rental rate every six months, and they take full advantage of that. We are now paying $100 more per month than when we signed up a short 18 months ago (each rental increase was $30-35 plus tax). We are now faced with the expense of moving to another nearby storage locker, or finally clearing it out (easier said than done)...or at the very least downsizing to a smaller unit. read more

This facility is clean and safe as previously noted. The 2 stars is for poor customer service. Having never used a storage facility before, I can only guess that dealing with the staff and manager is not something that is usually necessary. When the death of the storage renter and the possibility of the lock having to be cut off necessitates contacting the manager I would expect that there would be prompt, conscientious responses. Jessica, the manager, is friendly and helpful once on the phone. However, getting her on the phone is a nightmare. On 2 different occasions I had to phone 6 times before she called back. The other staff would take messages, assure me she would phone back or that they would phone back, "Today, for sure" and even days later there would be no response. In the meantime I was trying to arrange a mover. Dealing with a death and Covid 19 is stressful enough without being frustrated by someone with appalling customer service. read more

I would definitely recommend this storage facility. They gave me a free month on a 6 month rental plus a free rental vehicle to use, and there are also flatbed dollies to help move items. The units are indoor, climate controlled, clean and pest free. The office staff are always friendly and professional. read more
