Found this authentic Mexican restaurant via Yelp! I am on a business trip. I was craving some authentic Mexican food and WOW did I ever find a jackpot! Extremely good food with a nice atmosphere to go along with it! If I was a local this would definitely be my spot for Mexican food! Wish I had this down the street from me in Raleigh, NC! Genuinely the worst dining experience I have ever had. My party of three were all given incorrect cheques, some of which had prices that were double what was listed on the menu. On top of that, the cheques were not distributed properly and the waitstaff was very rude in terms of fixing this. The entire process of fixing this took nearly an hour (and many mean looks from the staff). read more

Señor Tequila has been our go-to Mexican spot since living in the Charleston area. This is a no frills standard Mexican joint. This is not a Mex 1 or Minero that serves craft tacos or uber-authentic food. This is standard Tex-Mex fare that is on the cheaper side. This is a great spot if you want a cheap night out. The food isn't spectacular but it's not too shabby. Keep an eye out for coupons in the mail. They come on the regular and I think it's part of what keeps us coming back. If your dinner plans include authentic Mexican cuisine and drinks, Señor Tequila is not the place for you. That being said, I would recommend Señor tequila for your Americanized Mexican and margarita happy hour cravings. From 4pm-6pm, large any flavor margaritas are only $9 and pitchers are only $14. Try the peach or mango for sure! 34oz beers are also an incredible happy hour price. I enjoy the atmosphere of the one in Mount Pleasant more so than the one in West Ashley, most because the store is larger, cleaner, and overall more comfortable, but both are nice. I recommend the fajita quesadilla which usually turns in to two meals for me because of how much food they give you. Pretty good for this type of Mexican restaurant. Extensive menu, good prices and friendly staff. They make a mean and strong margarita. Their chorizo cheese dip app is a must. Went here on a Tuesday evening. Fun decor. Great price for what you get. My husband got a mango margarita which was OK, but very weak. Once we mentioned this to the waiter, he generously poured another shot in at no extra charge. Loved this. The price for the beer was unbeatable! That was my favorite part. The food was decent. I did not like my spinach quesedillas as the spinach tasted like bad frozen spinach. My husband and his friend really enjoyed their meals which were borritos and tacos. This is your typical tex-mex restaurant. I get the same thing (beef burrito, refried beans, and cheese quesadilla) everywhere I go. The food came out quick and was good, just as I expected. The Dos Equis beer was great to go along with my dinner. My girlfriend got the margarita and I was disappointed in the amount of tequila. RUSHED TO ER! DO NOT EAT HERE. I have an allergy to peanuts and told the server before I even ordered the severity of my allergy (mole sauce has ground peanuts; not all Mexican restaurants list this). He assured me he would check with the chef. Food came, I ate it and I knew something was wrong. I asked them to list the ingredients in the sauce - they did not list peanuts. By the time I did my epipen (because I was gasping for air) and was rushed to the ER, I was covered head to toe in a hives. After several hours in the ER they allowed me to go home. I wrote a letter to Señor Tequila 1. To make them aware of this life-threatening situation where I could have gone into cardiac arrest and died. 2. To inform them that their employees need to be educated on food allergies and cross-contamination that can occur in food preparation. 3. To ask them to pay for my medical bills that were $1500! Waiter charged us full price for margaritas instead of happy hour price - then wouldn't come back to our table to fix the checks - we asked the waiter several times to come to our table, waved him down, etc and he blatantly ignored us. When he finally came to our table, 30 minutes later, he claimed it was 'no longer happy hour and we had to pay full price'. I chose this place because it was the only "1-$" restaurant I could find while here on vacation. Very pleasant surprise! I ordered the Chicken Mushroom Salad off the lunch menu. My wife & I decided we'd try Taco Tuesday for our 1st Senor Tequila experience. What a disappointment! 1st our server didn't know the rules of $1.00 tacos. We were told only beef and chicken tacos were $1.00 and they could be Soft or Crispy shells. We were surprised at checkout to find only Crispy Shells apply. $6.50 Mistake + the soft tacos come w/ beans or rice +$2.55 mistake but I was charged for them. My wife ordered Crispy w/ a side of Black Beans. The server's helper brought out Soft Tacos w/ Re-fried Beans. Tried to explain but the helper didn't speak English. The checkout experience was a disaster. Tried to explain to the cashier the server told us Soft Chicken Tacos were $1.00 and he refused to call the server to verify. He seemed matter of fact about it. I was pretty upset and decided leave w/o confrontation. A little surprised when I looked at my CC charge this AM $40.87 for what was supposed to be (6) $1.00 Tacos - (1 ) side of Rice, (1) side of Beans, (1) dish of Jalapenos, (1) dish of Sour Cream, (2) Regular Pacifico drafts, 1 Texas Margarita (Happy Hour Prices were in effect) The meal was pretty good not exceptional however we thought we had found a good Mexican Restaurant EOC. it was another boring night. i was hobbling around the house (sustained a nail injury to the foot earlier in the day. stupid me for being on the beach in the glaring sun. what was i thinking, anyway? but i have to say, the peeps with me were also irish and pasty, so we were burning ourselves together, which was somehow cool) when my friend (and distant cuz) summer called. margaritas and mexican food? why yes, i am always ready for margaritas and mexican, crippled or not. she drove; i hobbled. we settled for a pitcher (a mere 5 mini-bottles of tequila, which i always suspected was secretly spelled tokillya) and she launched into an in-depth when harry met sally-worthy ordering extravaganza. oh wait, and then changed it thirty seconds later and managed to be (i swear!) the most annoying customer ever. i waited tables for half a second, so i know i probably would've shrugged and left it up to god (or the chef to spit in her food), but our waiter was totally cool, even gave us each an extra shot of tekilya (because we really needed that) and, yes, samples of their various flavors of margarita (again, summer's request) so that we could make an educated ordering decision. wow, i just realized i'm actually reviewing the food/product/whatever in a yelp review. hell, i'm actually yelping. i mean, i could just get all philosophical about my hair or something. Anyway, all i mean to say is: these poor senor tequila people took some abuse and handled it so gracefully and kindly (even gave me what i thought was a candy necklace with our totally underpriced - because our waiter is awesome - bill. by the way, it wasn't candy. it was some hard indestructible material that can't be bitten into. i tried). i believe my greatest moment was when i realized the name of this joint is senor tequila. honestly, i couldn't think of a better name myself. senor tequila will take your annoying, your crippled, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, and give them some grade a margaritas. ...i decided that a restaurant review may involve more than just endorsing margaritas. so: the texan fajitas looked awesome (though summer complained that the vegetables were "too crunchy"), and i have yet to discover what qualifies them as particularly texan. i mean, are they dumber than other fajitas? probably. or just fatter. (haha! no really, i'm sorry, texas. my bad.) anyway, i got a pretty good spinach quesadilla for 5 bucks, and the guac was generally a mess and therefore pretty decent. in conclusion: by east of the mississippi standards, this mexican food was pretty good. read more

This place is great! I have been here 15-20 times. They are consistent, fast, and friendly. My favorites are the pollo mole, pollo chipolte, and the enchiladas suizas. All are delicious. Food is pretty good however, I have been here twice and both times they tried to over charge me. First of all, one sliced (hard as a rock) avocado was $4.95, second, the up charge on a kids taco plate was $3.80 for grilled chicken instead of shredded chicken which made the kids meal $9.00. I politely complained to the owner who was a complete bitch and did not try in any way to work with me. I will never go back and I will tell all my friends and strangers how horrible the customer service was... Went in on a weekday for takeout and the service was horrible. There was no one else in the restaurant but still had to wait a long time to just get a menu.
