Smothered burrito. Kids chicken quesadilla
Deepali P.

The smothered chicken burrito was SO GOOD. I chose to have the green and red sauce on my burrito and felt the green was a little more tart than I would have wanted but other than that the flavors of the burrito was so good. I asked for grilled chicken instead of shredded and that was a good decision! The staff here were also very friendly and it's a great cute spot especially after a day at Hershey park.

So, it's kind of pricey. I paid 28 dollars. I ordered the carnitas platter. It's carnitas, tortillas, beans, pico de gallo, and guac. I said, "Keep the guac and pico. Let me have onions and cilantro with jalapeños and a Jarritos as a drink."The food: the carnitas were pretty good, tender, and far from dry. The beans are what gave the rice flavor; the rice was very bland. The sauce they call very spicy, I'd give it a 6/10 on the spice scale and an 8/10 on flavor. Would I go back? Probably not. Service is good, but I told her it's for here. I sat at the table for like 5 minutes before I realized I had to order at the counter/register. The place is very clean and very nice.

We had a wonderful meal here. The staff was friendly, food was excellent. The guac was superb. Chips were very flavorful. Birria burrito was good, maybe a tad too much smoke but that's just my thought. Hubs enjoyed his carnitas. Plenty of food for leftovers. Would definitely return if in the area!

The food was decent and staff was kind, however the proportions were small for the cost. Nice Mexican decor, good ambiance

Overall: 5/5 Consistency is key, and Rey Azteca has it in spades. Great vibes, great service, great food. The best Mexican restaurant in the area and it's not particularly close. My brother takes her out often and it's usually to a chain restaurant. Mom likes Panera, 5 guys and McDonald's - she's comfortable with these. Not a whole lot of surprises. I'm not a fan of most chains. When I suggest we go somewhere else, mom usually sighs and rolls her eyes. Today was no different - when I pulled into the El Rodeo parking lot, I looked over and of course I saw the look that said that she would rather eat at Panera. I knew she'd come around. There was plenty of handicapped parking but the restaurant doors were pretty heavy and I had to get a little help to get her into the restaurant. The restaurant was empty sans one guy eating at the bar. We were quickly greeted and had our drinks well before we could even look at the menu. We first ordered guac to go with our chips. Very good, but I wasn't a huge fan of the salsa. Mom said she wanted shrimp and to order her something. I ordered her shrimp enchiladas while I ordered the Quesabirria Tacos for myself. Mom really enjoyed her enchiladas. She surprised me when she ate every bit of it. My tacos were wonderful. I know I'm a little odd - my leftovers made a terrific breakfast the next day. And I was right, mom did come around. She said she'd like to come back. I sent my brother the link to El Rodeo's website. He'll be happy for a change of pace. I also added to order mom shrimp enchiladas and guacamole. She's comfortable with that and her being happy is everything.

It was a Monday night so not super busy and we had about 10 people that they were able to seat right away. When we walked in, someone at the bar was getting their birthday celebration lol. The drinks were very good, very large, and strong! I had a jalapeno margarita and then another one with a chambord floater - both delicious! The menu was very large with lots of options but the option I wanted wasn't on there (I really just wanted one enchilada and one chili relleno) - they were not willing to do any substitutions on the combo menu. So I ended up just getting a 2 enchilada platter which was delicious! It was the perfect portion, I cannot do super large portions so this amount was just what I wanted. All of my colleagues also loved their meals, two of them got the fajitas in the pineapple which one of them dubbed "the best Mexican food I've ever had" haha My one colleague trolled another one by telling them it was his birthday so they did the whole birthday celebration for him - sombrero, maracas, singing, and icecream! When the bill came, everything was VERY reasonably priced! We raved so much about this place at the conference that several others went there in the days after that. Who knew Hershey had good Mexican food?? Thanks for the fun times!

I really appreciate the speed and the willingness to bring more free chips! Normally I go straight for the tacos, which are always a hit. The specials on the back of the menu are SO worth checking out for some more unique finds. Today I tried a torta (forgive me forgetting the menu name) with birria that was absolutely fantastic. The combinations are also a great price, especially if you can make it for lunch. Of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't also mention the happy hour. You can get some great deals here and they have an excellent drink selection. Alongside the alcoholic beverages there are also non-alcoholic smoothies with the same flavor options as daiquiris, so great options there too!!

Plaza Mexican is a cut above most. The decore is eclectic, walls covered with a zany mix of brown gunite-like gravel, white and silver tile, faux brick, etc.--a definite Aztec vibe, I believe. We went there with one of our toddler grandsons and our daughter. We ordered table-side guacamole, enchiladas, street corn, fried plantains, and a novel Philly cheesesteak burrito. Well our little guy loved the guacamole, eating almost the entire bowl. For the adults, it could've used a lot more lime juice, and seasoning. The street corn was okay, but could have been sweeter. My burrito was a cheesy mix of lightly sautéed green peppers, onions, and queso cheese. I was slightly disappointed with the meat. It was definitely ground beef, and I expected more like a minute steak. But it was an interesting dish that I would probably order again. The menu said it had mushrooms, but they were hard to find. I washed it down with a draft Negra Modello. Our grandson and daughter liked their enchiladas. Our server was pleasant and on the ball; she gave us excellent service. You're lucky to have the plaza in town. I know it has been in business quite a while and they do a great job!

Let me just start off by saying the place itself is beautiful, antiqueish like but also gave me Mexican culture to the max. Which I loved. I visited Mexico before so it definitely was nice to see that. Everyone from the host to our server were so nice and friendly. We loved our server, he kept us laughing and was great with his attentiveness to the table. The menu offers a lot! Lol from traditional plates to vegetarian options. I wanted to try something different so I picked the San Jose burrito. A burrito stuffed with chicken, rice, chorizo, beans and topped with a jalapeño cheese sauce.. it was beyond what I expected. It was so flavorful! Loved every bite lol if you come here, I highly recommend. Hubby got the Tacos Del Mar which came with three tacos. 1- shrimp, 1- fried fish & 1-seared fish. His plate came with rice too. Which I think is great for the price and the portion they give you. We also order table side guacamole because you always need to have some gua when you're at Mexican restaurant right?!?!! Lol. Everything was absolutely delicious. Friendly staff , very nice spot. Go check it out if you haven't.
