When I'm in town, I try to take my mom out for lunch everyday. She's 84 and wheelchair bound. For a lot of reasons, each trip is an ordeal but I'll do anything for this woman. My brother takes her out often and it's usually to a chain restaurant. Mom likes Panera, 5 guys and McDonald's - she's comfortable with these. Not a whole lot of surprises. I'm not a fan of most chains. When I suggest we go somewhere else, mom usually sighs and rolls her eyes. Today was no different - when I pulled into the El Rodeo parking lot, I looked over and of course I saw the look that said that she would rather eat at Panera. I knew she'd come around. There was plenty of handicapped parking but the restaurant doors were pretty heavy and I had to get a little help to get her into the restaurant. The restaurant was empty sans one guy eating at the bar. We were quickly greeted and had our drinks well before we could even look at the menu. We first ordered guac to go with our chips. Very good, but I wasn't a huge fan of the salsa. Mom said she wanted shrimp and to order her something. I ordered her shrimp enchiladas while I ordered the Quesabirria Tacos for myself. Mom really enjoyed her enchiladas. She surprised me when she ate every bit of it. My tacos were wonderful. I know I'm a little odd - my leftovers made a terrific breakfast the next day. And I was right, mom did come around. She said she'd like to come back. I sent my brother the link to El Rodeo's website. He'll be happy for a change of pace. I also added to order mom shrimp enchiladas and guacamole. She's comfortable with that and her being happy is everything. read more

This was such a fun find! I was in town for a conference at the Hershey Lodge, so one night a bunch of us walked over to Rodeo for dinner. It was a Monday night so not super busy and we had about 10 people that they were able to seat right away. When we walked in, someone at the bar was getting their birthday celebration lol. The drinks were very good, very large, and strong! I had a jalapeno margarita and then another one with a chambord floater - both delicious! The menu was very large with lots of options but the option I wanted wasn't on there (I really just wanted one enchilada and one chili relleno) - they were not willing to do any substitutions on the combo menu. So I ended up just getting a 2 enchilada platter which was delicious! It was the perfect portion, I cannot do super large portions so this amount was just what I wanted. All of my colleagues also loved their meals, two of them got the fajitas in the pineapple which one of them dubbed "the best Mexican food I've ever had" haha My one colleague trolled another one by telling them it was his birthday so they did the whole birthday celebration for him - sombrero, maracas, singing, and icecream! When the bill came, everything was VERY reasonably priced! We raved so much about this place at the conference that several others went there in the days after that. Stopped in on my way to business meeting in Herndon VA. Seating was requested for a table as they have bar area seating with TV on soccer tournament on going. Service was fast and after leaving menu and taking my order of Lime Margarita right away!! Larger quantity of my chili Rellano- green peppers filled with cheese covered with sweet sauce! My husband and I occasionally visit this location after work or an event. We like to sit at the bar and get some drinks, guacamole, and a meal to share between us both. We had some guac and ordered birria tacos that is my favorite Mexican dish! I did enjoy the tacos, but felt the meat needed to be a bit more tender and seasoned. Food and drinks were excellent and our server, Kaden (I think I have his name right) was fantastic! It was mentioned that it was my birthday (when he offered us a free drink that we are assuming was accidentally made) and he and other members of the staff sang their Happy Birthday song and provided a dish of ice cream. This was not requested by the party that I was with. We were a group of 7 and he, and the rest of the staff, provided phenomenal service. Drinks were served quickly with food not too much longer after. We did not feel rushed, though, to have to leave when we were done. Would highly recommend and will revisit the next time I'm at Hershey for a conference! read more

Figured I'll write a review since management could never call me to address my experience. I decided to go to el rodeo on cinco de mayo around 3pm. We were sat very quickly but that was the only thing that was quick. Once the server decided to arrive at the table she left the menus and was about to leave right away when I had to tell her the drinks we wanted. Eventually she came with the drinks but once again had to wait to get straws. Fine ok. We had to call her to come and tell us the specials and she wasn't even sure of them. Eventually she came back again we ordered and she didn't bring the food out guess they had a food runner. He leaves the food and I immediately see a thick black straight hair in the food. My husband food was fine but it took me at least 5 min to get her attention. Once they remade the food the same guy brings the food with an attitude and asks me to check the plate and rolls his eyes like I lied. The server said ok sorry but sadly they weren't and didn't care as soon as she came and asked if the food was ok this time i asked for the bill and a Togo box that just ended up in the trash. There was only one table occupied by us for us to be waiting and waiting to get hair in my food. After I left I called and left a message for the manager with no response. I will not be going back. Service was awful, food was better when they first opened. And yes I did tip because Ik that's her job but they need better training to attend to customers read more

We eat at the chain often and are familiar with the food and the large portions. Enough for leftovers Ordered on Mothers Day through DoorDash. Was shocked with the portion size as the entrees were less than enough for 1 person. Ordered the cheese dip and container was less than half full. Contacted the store and spoke with the manager. She argued continually over the portion sizes and even told me I was lucky to even have gotten the free chips, as it is only complimentary. We ordered cheese dip specifically to have with the chips and she stated it's portioned out at 4 oz, and there was less than 2 oz in the container. The main chicken entree was not enough till fill up a small child and to compensate they added rice, Again trying to rectify and plead with the manager she only continued to argue and refused to offer any resolution and blamed DoorDash somehow. Was in the mood for Mexican food and decided to give the place a try. The place looked nice and clean inside. It was somewhat busy, which is a good sign the food is good, but I was underwhelmed. I ordered a spicy margarita, but it was pretty weak and didn't taste spicy at all. The chicken fajitas I ordered were very bland, almost no flavor at all. I would rank them below Applebees, which is about as mid as it gets. There isn't many restaurant options in Hershey so that explains why it was busy, but I probably would not return. read more

We recently moved here from another state that has a lot of Mexican food, so we don't know what passes for a good Mexican restaurant around here. El Rodeo definitely looks the part, although by the time we finished our meal we were not overly impressed. The food and service were both marginal. First I should mention that we liked the guacamole and chips appetizer. Very tasty! We then ordered some fajitas, which were just passable. The meat and veggies were soggy and not well cooked, and the portions were small. For example, on the side plate that has toppings for your fajitas, we were given small portions of lettuce with only a dollop of sour cream and guac. We were glad we had leftover guac from our appetizer. The service was nothing to cheer about either. Our waitress seemed to be doing double duty by serving as the restaurant hostess as well as waiting tables. It was only 5pm, so maybe this is just something they do during the slower hours. Or maybe they were short staffed because someone called in sick. Either way, the service was not off the charts. All this being said, this may be great Mexican food by PA standards. We won't know for sure until we try other places, which seem few and far between. In any case we will keep looking for the truly excellent and authentic Mexican food. read more

Negra Modelo on Draft! Fajitas, you get just as much as any other Mexican. They have grilled jalapenas . Fajitas were the most sizzling I have ever had. Which means the steak and chicken are a bit overcooked. But I always find the steak is over at all Mexican restaurants. For tender steak fajitas, go to Chilis. Salsa was very good. Service was excellent! Atmosphere is better than most Mexican restaurants I go to. I live in Florida and eat Mexican once a week. Travel a lot and this is a good Mexican Restaurant!. read more

We came here on a sunny evening in June. The atmosphere was well-themed and the service was speedy. The food was standard Mexican-American fare. The lime and strawberry margaritas were delicious; however, the cucumber-jalepeno margarita was not. It was too spicy and our poor friend couldn't finish it, it burned her taste buds and left her with trauma. Busy Friday night with some people from church- 11 people. Service was good though they did have to return multiple times to bring us corn tortilla instead of flour due to someone being gluten free. Probably went back and forth with it 3 times delaying the meal. I love their chicken enchiladas, and rice but the refried beans could be better. Went here one of the first weeks they opened. Great ambiance and great drinks! However, the food was not as flavorful as I would have liked. The Mexican rice was very bland. I ordered the vegetarian chimichanga, and it was as if it wasn't fried at all. It didn't have the crispy texture I was looking for. Instead, it looked and tasted like a regular burrito. Overall, I think this place has a lot of potential and I would love to give it another chance. Would love to see more flavor, seasoning, and spice added to their dishes. read more

I recently went to this location after being an El Rodeo fan for years. It's an interesting experience because the building wasn't built for El Rodeo so it looks very different from the other locations. Once inside the decorations are less exaggerated than usual but still fun for sure. However, it being a newer building led to much nicer bathrooms than the older locations. The food and service was exactly what I expected, which means it was great. The guac could've used a bit more salt but other than that the food was fantastic! If you go you absolutely have to get the cheese dip, it's to die for! I got the vegetarian quesadilla with a few modifications that they followed perfectly. Went for a late lunch before going to a concert. The skinny margaritas were excellent. The guacamole was perfect with just the right amount of heat. I got the chicken fajita salad and it was amazing! Came in was empty as it was an hour left until close. We were in the area as we came from NYC for the weekend, was craving Mexican food before we left the state and stopped here. Immediately my expectations were high for this place as the decorations seemed very authentic! Sat down and ordered horchata. It was a 10/10. I ordered the steak and the one chicken enchilada and chicken burrito combo. The food came out 10 mins within ordering and honestly I was a little worried. The steak tasted mid nothing too crazy I would've preferred that the plate came with some rice but it didn't. The chicken enchilada and the chicken burrito was essentially the exact same thing I couldn't tell which one was supposed to be the burrito or which one was supposed to be the enchilada.. the sauce for the enchilada was a 6/10. The flour tortillas were given to us As well and they were cold when I was handed them. To be honest the food tasted like it was microwaved but I really hope it wasn't. Server was nice though! it started off good. and then we were the only table in a semi alcove when all the remain tables were sat with a travel baseball team. the sound level skyrocketed . The adults sat together and "they're just boys" sat in booths alone. predictable... yes. maybe the manager should have predicted this. let's just say this thoughtless move left us with our desert unfinished and our hasty escape. what was the manager to do ?!? nothing. she ruined our dining experience & did not care one bit. read more
