We were in town for a swim meet and this place was close by. The food and service here were so great!! We had the chicken bowl, steak bowl, egg rolls and cheesecake egg rolls with strawberry dipping sauce. Everything was delicious!! The rice is amazing and I loved the jalapeño popper egg rolls! Plus the owner was extremely thoughtful and generous when I left my purse at the restaurant and didn't realize it until we had already left town. He offered to take it to my daughter's swim team's hotel after restaurant hours. I am forever grateful and highly recommend this place for food and service. My Shrimp tacos were some of the best I've had in San Angelo. Hot, juicy and comes with rice and a salad. Salad was good and I loved the rice. Service was quick. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table, quickly! Interior decor was ok and the ambiance is definitely casual with a lot or working people having lunch. Well, this place is fast casual, the clever name drew us in. The decor is kind of industrial modern. The menu is, as the name suggest, half fajitas and half rice bowls. Portions were generous. Presentation was attractive. Produce seemed fresh. Vegetables were cooked properly, not overdone. Proteins were tender and tasty. My fajita salad had a dusting of Cotija cheese that gave it a little extra pop. I should have paid more attention to the listing but I was on the road and this was the highest-rated place in town that was open after 8 pm. With the name, Chang, and the words "El Chino Latino" painted on the wall, you could forgive me for thinking this would be Chinese-Mexican fusion. But then there was the Japanese imagery, and a vaguely Japanese-adjacent menu. I found the whole experience confusing and frustrating. I ordered a spicy steak hibachi bowl. It came on a plate. It wasn't spicy. The only reason I'm sure it was steak is that it was tough as hell. It appears the only seasoning this place uses is soy sauce. It's also the only seasoning or condiment on the tables. And there are a bunch of five-gallon buckets of it in their pantry. Full disclosure, I ate all the meat. It didn't taste bad, so much as it didn't taste like anything at all and I didn't want to have to stop again tonight. Rice tasted like soy sauce. Vegetables were gross. Threw most of it away. Service was fine. I don't want to get anyone in trouble. But really, why does this place even exist? I can only assume they cater to a clientele who doesn't know what they're eating and thinks lots of salt equals flavor. We were passing through and staying at a nearby Airbnb for the evening and popped in to Senor Changs just before check in time so it was early afternoon and we were the only customers there. I saw the great reviews and thought we should give this a try. Upon entering, the clean smell was so nice and the lady that greeted us was very kind and explained the menu so well since it was our first visit. I chose the the steak and shrimp hibachi bowl and my husband chose the chicken hibachi bowl. I loved that they stir fried fresh seasonal veggies for the bowls and it all tasted so fresh. The star of the show is the meat. It is all very well seasoned and the fried rice had corn in it, which I enjoyed. We order the jalepeno popper eggrolls as a side and those were so delicious. The texture was very creamy in the middle as it looks like they take all of the popper ingredients like cream cheese, bacon, jalepeno, etc. and blend it all together for the middle of the eggroll. They were piping hot and very good. I wish I did not live so far away; because I would definitely order from them regularly. I would be interested in trying everything on the menu because the food we received was so hot and fresh. Their sauces are very nice too. I highly recommend! read more

Great place, friendly staff, clean area to eat. Chang's would do GREAT in Houston,TX! It has a good truck feel in terms of hustle in the kitchen but really great flavored food like from a fancy Hibachi grill. I would definitely come back when in San Angelo! My review might be a little biased bc i'm from LA.... But in all honesty this place isn't bad but it's not amazing. We got the spicy chicken fried rice bowl and the portion size is decent! I was happy about that but the chicken they use is tasted like the frozen chicken chunks u can get at walmart for like 2.99. The flavor was honestly just meh and there was nothing special about the dish. Prices were not the cheapest either but the service is great! The waiter was super nice and made us feel really taken care of. The ambiance isn't bad as well! Nothing to really note. Really disappointing. The chicken breast teriyaki chicken plate was pretty dry did not have a strong savory taste. Not a lot of sauce. Although the outside had some sear which was good, the inside was bland. This was not really "Asian fusion" because there was nothing being fused. It doesn't taste like the mall teriyaki chicken which on the contrary is really soft and juicy, made with chicken thigh. I wanted to meet Adrian Soto the owner of this place just as bad as I wanted to try his food so I got to quell both cravings on this visit and left more impressed than expected. Adrian is a local tycoon of sorts in business and the kitchen. Never one to sit still or be content, he is always on the look for what's next. I love that spirit about this guy. His fusion of fast-casual Mexican cuisine with Chinese street food is 100% all it's hyped up to be. I have many more menu items to try still mind you. The hibachi plates and hibachi salads are solid picks. I got the trio meat on both which is steak, chicken, and shrimp. Each is seasoned with different spices and oils to best pair with stir-fried veggies and steamed white rice (my swap over fried rice) or the fresh greens used for the base of the salad plate. The place can turn these things out lightning-fast for sit-down dining, drive-through pick up, and delivery, all at once!
