I hate leaving a bad review especially on a place that I enjoyed previously. I'm not sure what exactly changed in the quality of their food, but we ordered $60 worth just to end up hungry afterwards. Calamari had a foul taste to it. Small portion size with big chunky fried pieces. Miso soup was okay, but wasn't packaged well ended up spilling on the ride home. Genuinely didn't enjoy the four rolls we ordered this time. Got the TNT Roll and California Roll we typically order, but didn't live up to the memory. We arrived at the time our order was supposed to be ready, but had to wait over 30 minutes for the pick up order. Floor was pretty dirty inside, but the tables were wiped down well. There are better options for sushi in Abilene. I do think Little Ninja's is comparable to running to the grocery store at this point. On a silly side note, several of the previous reviews highlight the lore and appeal of meeting Miguel at Little Ninja... I think that might be the most noteworthy aspect of this restaurant. read more

In town for buisness and went to yelp to look at my dinner options. That's when I stumbled upon little ninja. Like any normal Person I click and go straight the reviews and let me tell you I knew right then and there, where I was going for dinner. Another reviewer named JOE told a story of a wonderful little twink behind the counter named Miguel, it intrigued me. Who is this mysterious Miguel? So me and my buddy walk in and who did I lock eyes with? You guessed it, my knight in shining armor, Miguel. I approached him and said "I've heard so much about you", he blushes. This was my first time here, it's not a great place to go late at night on Sunday. Might as well go to a grocery store. I waited about 25-30 minutes for the food. The sushi is decent. I drank about a third of the bubble tea and threw the rest out. It didn't taste too good to me. I got the buy 1 get 1 free, and gave the other one to a random person. The price isn't worth it for the bubble tea. If I go back I'll try the smoothie or just go with the old fashioned fountain drink or water. The food was so good! It arrived hot off the grill. Food was ready sooner than estimated, but while we waiting, we were given free appetizers. It was such a nice gesture and unexpected. I ordered hibachi chicken and would definitely order it again. I had enough left over to take home for a 2nd meal. Though, I don't have a big appetite. We also ordered chicken noodles. It was fresh and hot, and you could tell it was all made to order. The restaurant was very clean and organized. I feel like the owners take pride in their restaurant, and we plan to return on a future trip to Abilene. On the last note, the yum yum sauce (that's what I've heard it called even though it might not be the real name), was delicious and not too sweet. It balanced out the hibachi meal very well. Went to little Ninja over by Wingstop on the south side. Waited at least 45 minutes just to pick up an order. Everyone that came in after me placed orders and got them all well before I got mine. Worst experience at a restaurant in Abilene. After all the time I wasted waiting on the order, they forgot to give me the drink that went with the order, and all they said was sorry for the wait, after watching multiple people who arrived well after me get their orders quickly. My boyfriend and I are huge sushi critics. He's from California and has seen the world and when we travel, one of the first things we try in a new place is sushi. I'm an Abilene local and have tried sushi from every place that sells it. We have a preference to raw sushi and raw, fresh sushi is hard to find this far from the ocean. We got the Lava roll, Houston roll and the Sunrise roll and we were in AWE of how fresh and big the pieces and the fish were. Their sushi is better than anywhere in Abilene and we will NEVER get sushi anywhere else! Took it back to the hotel and it was 1 small portion of salmon and 10 small cubed pieces of meat over veggies. Seemed like a lot but it was the veggies underneath. We got our food really fast. The spring rolls were crispy and hot. Little ninja told us they didn't have sweet and sour sauce to dip them though so that was a bummer. We had to use duck sauce. The chicken hibachi was alright. Nothing great, nothing bad. Just okay. My husband got the steak ramen and that was completely bland. He had to add soy sauce and a ton of sriracha to get any sort of flavor. The tempura volcano was the best thing we got. It was a 8/10. Overall, the experience was mediocre. Place was clean, and lady at the front was nice, but the food was very mediocre. Flavor was bland for both the meat and the rice. We added more soy sauce but it didn't help much. Rice was also very sticky and wet still (so was more like just doing white rice instead of fried rice). The restaurant itself is nothing special. There's not an atmosphere that is created here. But their food is really good. Their rolls are well made. Maybe not fancy or the absolute highest quality sushi, but their prices and service are UNBEATABLE. They do a decent job of getting things done on time.
