Tried this place for the first time and I'm so happy I finally did, the regular tacos were so flavorful, an explosion in my mouth of delicious birria with onions and cilantro, I ordered the taco dorado and the taco with cheese and wow it was a mix of velvety, rich, moist and decadent flavors. The ambiance is a small yet family friendly place. When I got there I asked the cashier what she would recommend and she hit it on the money bc everything we got was so delicious. First time at this restaurant. It's hidden in the corner of a strip mall. The interior was clean and neat. The food was delicious and freshly made. The way to my heart is through good food... Yes, I yelped my way into my own heart! lol I was passing through the neighborhood and was looking for a quick and easy lunch spot. I remembered another Yelper raving about a dipping taco place in Downey. So, I yelped it! Yelp had this spot at 4.5 stars and without a doubt I led myself to this taco joint. I pulled into a pretty empty strip mall and could not find it... I finally saw it hidden in the corner. I parked my car and walked into this small establishment with about 6 tables max. They also had an outdoor seating area with 2 tables around the back. I ordered tacos dorado (hard shell) with consome with meat. Apparently they have two different types of consome... The food came out pretty quickly so I rushed over to the sauce bar where they had a red hot spicy salsa, limes, spicy pickled onions, and napkins. That's all they have and that was all I needed... I squeezed a lime over my taco and one into my consume. I then dipped the taco into my consume and put some hot sauce over the dipped tacos. It was DELICIOUS! We found this place by accident as we thought dipped tacos sounded delicious. Located in a very quiet plaza, this place was busy. We ordered Birria Tacos with a Birria dipping sauce, similar to a soup base. It was flavorful and delicious! I had a hardshell along with a softshell taco. Very liberal proportions of meat inside. The dipping is basically the contents of the gravy from the Birria as it was prepared. Onions and cilantro was added in it for additional flavor. Anyhow, a taco of a different nature, and I liked it. Came in on Sunday around 2:00 p.m. 3 of us, quiet little place ample seating, a few tables on the outside too. There is no table wait service, you have to order at the cashier and pay they will take it to your table. The staff is friendly and helpful. The menu is a little hard to read because the lettering is so small. Managed to make our way through it using a lot of time, but eventually ordered the birria egg rolls, California burrito, and a quesadilla with birria, plus 1 drink, everything came up to $40. The egg rolls come 3 to an order and have a lot of meat it was supposed to have cheese but I think they over fried them and the cheese got melted out as the outside of the egg rolls were just a little too chewy hard, not crisp and light. My husband enjoyed the California burrito it had plenty of birria and avocado and french fries. The third person in our party had the quesadilla with the beef and it looked very good she said it tasted very good. The birria egg rolls come with consomme, which was very delicious and had shreds of beef in it too, we all used it for what we ordered, they have a red chili at the salsa bar that is tasty good, but very hot, we used it minimally so we could taste our items, and the consomme, and enough heat to compliment it. There is also a catering menu, I would strongly suggest for parties. I came an hour before closing on a Saturday night and there was a good amount of people in line already and only more after us. I ordered a quesataco, regular tacos and consume. The limes, salsa, and pickled onions were self-serve. They make handmade tortillas which were super fresh but too thick for my liking. The meat portion on the tacos were super skimpy. I'm not sure if they were trying to portion enough birria til closing but it was not enough in the tacos and consume. The flavor was good tho. The salsa was SUPER spicy. So I have been meaning to try this spot as it keeps showing up on my Instagram and here on Yelp and thanks to the rainy weather cancelling some plans we had my wife and I stopped in for an early lunch and all I can say is wow. The birria itself had a really great flavor and the consumé was good as well but what made it better was how it was served. Let's start with the birria crunch wrap. This thing was loaded with birria, lettuce and cheese and was so good dipped in the consumé. The birria nachos were mostly birria which was a plus and the fresh chips held up well with the juice. The real star of the show though was the birria egg rolls. These things were heaven and they should be sold by the dozen. The wrapping was perfectly crunchy and airy and the inside was filled with onion, cilantro, birria and cheese. We even got a couple orders to go to share back home. The restaurant itself is tucked in the corner of a little plaza and has a few tables available for people to dine in. It was somewhat busy when we got there but not too loud. The food is delicious. I have tried almost everything on this menu. BUT I can't get behind their staff or the fact that they won't give me my avocado on the side and yet somehow I still have to pay for it if I don't get it---that's theft. I always place phone orders and every time I call by the end of my call I'm fuming. It's the staff laughing meanwhile they take your order, or them cutting you off mid sentence.
