The way to my heart is through good food... Yes, I yelped my way into my own heart! lol I was passing through the neighborhood and was looking for a quick and easy lunch spot. I remembered another Yelper raving about a dipping taco place in Downey. So, I yelped it! Yelp had this spot at 4.5 stars and without a doubt I led myself to this taco joint. I pulled into a pretty empty strip mall and could not find it... I finally saw it hidden in the corner. I parked my car and walked into this small establishment with about 6 tables max. They also had an outdoor seating area with 2 tables around the back. I ordered tacos dorado (hard shell) with consome with meat. Apparently they have two different types of consome... The food came out pretty quickly so I rushed over to the sauce bar where they had a red hot spicy salsa, limes, spicy pickled onions, and napkins. That's all they have and that was all I needed... I squeezed a lime over my taco and one into my consume. I then dipped the taco into my consume and put some hot sauce over the dipped tacos. It was DELICIOUS! I then ate the pickled onions to clean my palate. The consome was a little on the greasy side for me. Pros - Tacos itself had great flavor and were delicious. We found this place by accident as we thought dipped tacos sounded delicious. Located in a very quiet plaza, this place was busy. We ordered Birria Tacos with a Birria dipping sauce, similar to a soup base. It was flavorful and delicious! I had a hardshell along with a softshell taco. Very liberal proportions of meat inside. The dipping is basically the contents of the gravy from the Birria as it was prepared. Onions and cilantro was added in it for additional flavor. Anyhow, a taco of a different nature, and I liked it. Tried this place for the first time and I'm so happy I finally did, the regular tacos were so flavorful, an explosion in my mouth of delicious birria with onions and cilantro, I ordered the taco dorado and the taco with cheese and wow it was a mix of velvety, rich, moist and decadent flavors. The ambiance is a small yet family friendly place. When I got there I asked the cashier what she would recommend and she hit it on the money bc everything we got was so delicious. She was so extra sweet and friendly, very welcoming and made us feel like we belonged. I've had better birria. I usually go to Birrieria Gonzalez and I think I like theirs a lot better. I came an hour before closing on a Saturday night and there was a good amount of people in line already and only more after us. I ordered a quesataco, regular tacos and consume. The limes, salsa, and pickled onions were self-serve. They make handmade tortillas which were super fresh but too thick for my liking. The meat portion on the tacos were super skimpy. Birria! Birria! Birria! I'll make it quick: I'm very picky when it comes to birria. As a Mexican, I don't fool around with birria places unless I know it's good from a trusted friend. I took a chance with Señor Birria because I want to start experimenting. And I love supporting local spots. I've never had a birria torta. Seems like a bad idea. I figured The broth (juice) from the meat will make my bread soggy. But I wanted to try something new. Now I know. Bad idea lol all though my torta wasn't good, my party loved their food! I put up photos so you can see what they got and they loved it!!! So on behalf of them, yes, this place was good. My dad said the birria was "suave". Soft, for you non Spanish speaking folks lol and that says a lot because most places use thick, chewy cheap meat. But not Señor Birria! I'll just get something else next time. I came to check out this place since I was next door of the location. I wanted to order queso birria tacos and was told I need to buy the consomé cup that was $5 .. I kindly asked if a small size consomé was complementary and she said no. I was a little perplex since I don't need a 12oz consomé cup for two tacos. I have to say I was very disappointed. So I have been meaning to try this spot as it keeps showing up on my Instagram and here on Yelp and thanks to the rainy weather cancelling some plans we had my wife and I stopped in for an early lunch and all I can say is wow. The birria itself had a really great flavor and the consumé was good as well but what made it better was how it was served. Let's start with the birria crunch wrap. This thing was loaded with birria, lettuce and cheese and was so good dipped in the consumé. The birria nachos were mostly birria which was a plus and the fresh chips held up well with the juice. The real star of the show though was the birria egg rolls. These things were heaven and they should be sold by the dozen. The wrapping was perfectly crunchy and airy and the inside was filled with onion, cilantro, birria and cheese. We even got a couple orders to go to share back home. The restaurant itself is tucked in the corner of a little plaza and has a few tables available for people to dine in. It was somewhat busy when we got there but not too loud. The service was fast and attentive and the food came out pretty quickly. I definitely recommend trying this place out and getting those egg rolls! read more

I wasn't planning to go here, but I ordered the Taco Tuesday special of Birria tacos. One per dollar. Service was quick. I'm not very good with my Spanish, but I was able to order my food as best as I could. Music is somewhat loud, but I love the vibes of this restaurant. Everything they have is Birria inspired. There is no other type of meats. You can order Birria ramen, quesadillas, and even a crunchwrap. I will definitely be back every Tuesday! BUT I can't get behind their staff or the fact that they won't give me my avocado on the side and yet somehow I still have to pay for it if I don't get it---that's theft. I always place phone orders and every time I call by the end of my call I'm fuming. It's the staff laughing meanwhile they take your order, or them cutting you off mid sentence. So I was up in the area waiting on my Porto's order. I was starving and well... I get quite evil when I'm hungry so..I couldn't wait for Porto's' So I Yelped what was close by. Hello Senor Birria!! Let me tell, had i known how good this Birria Burrito was I would have ordered a few more to take home to San Diego! I've had Birria a few times including in Mexico and I have to say Senor Birria, you definitely earned 5 stars! The staff was friendly and my burrito came out quick. I had to hurry because it was almost time to pick up my Porto's (don't judge me haha). The burrito is a good size and comes with onions, radish and a banging ass salsa all on the side. I wouldn't recommend eating in your car like I did because it can get quite messy with all the juice from the Birria. The Birria meat was so tender and packed with flavor. Once you add the onions and the salsa and a nice squeeze of the lime..Wow!! I ate half in the car and wrapped the rest up until I got home! It was just as good the next day let me tell you!
