Residents get to look out their windows and enjoy something fresh and beautiful to look at. Other first impressions were multiple air filtration systems outside the doors of every room. Not sure if that was a 'leftover' from COVID kind of thing or what - but I liked it. Shared rooms were small and good to know is only two visitors at a time. It's hard to imagine it but the reason is purely for function. Placing 3 chairs around I think would be very difficult to navigate anymore. Luckily for those who might not like shared rooms - singles are available. If you've been saving money all your life and here - this might just be the time to spend a little extra if you don't like people around. My friend's neighbor was a pleasant person - and that's what I've found going to these types of places - its not bad to have another nearby... If your friend or family member is here its your job to visit. People make up excuses and there really is no excuse. I was able to slip in 30 minutes before closing after work and anybody can do that. I think visitors are an important part of recovery. You can't visit your friend or your mom? Just keep the excuses to yourself I don't want to hear it.

The administration will cheat and lie to get rid of patients when copays incur regardless of your health condition. They will encourage you to stay only as long as your insurance covers 100% of the cost. A "Safe Discharge" cannot be relied on at all. They will do everything to criminally kick you to the curb before you are medically healthy enough to take care of yourself to avoid copays mounting up. They will bum-rush you out to rent your bed to fresh patients only to avoid billing copays. To top it off, the language and cultural barriers are extremely. Nice workers but confusion is constant. The food sucks and your call lights are ignored. Pray you never experience an emergency. This is your warning... Avoid the San Leandro Healthcare Center.

Our family used FirstLight Home Care for about two months. Many of the caregivers who worked with…read moremy husband were kind and compassionate (shout out to Elite and Mechelle!)--this review is not about them. My issues lie with agency management. As my husband's care needs changed, we did not receive any reassessment or proactive involvement from management. Continuity between caregivers was very limited. I also saw that care documentation was inaccurate (e.g., marking things as done that were not done and things done that weren't documented). After discontinuing services, I took time to write several clear, detailed emails to the manager outlining specific concerns. But the responses I received left me feeling unheard. For that reason, I have not felt comfortable pursuing phone discussions. What was especially upsetting was the sense that responsibility for identifying care gaps appeared to rest largely on the ailing client and family. My husband was unwell, and I was managing work and other responsibilities -- which is why we hired an agency. In our view, agency management plays a key role in proactively ensuring quality of care. By analogy, a school principal does not wait for parent complaints before attending to student safety and educational quality. Since transitioning to AuCare, we have observed more direct managerial involvement. Their manager actually met with my husband directly (something that never happened with Firstlight) and offered helpful suggestions. Caregivers also demonstrate strong continuity, supported by accurate documentation practices and communication between staff. To top it off, Firstlight was so expensive. AuCare costs slightly less, and our experience has been better. I remain open to updating this review if management meaningfully addresses the concerns described above. Again, this review is not a reflection on individual caregivers. Our experience was shaped by gaps at the management and oversight level.

My mother lived here for over five years and received wonderful loving care from the two home caregivers that live there round the clock. The home is clean, safe and reasonably priced. My mother had loving care from her caregiver who actually became my mom's friend too. Esther who is the administrator/owner of the home is a registered nurse. Medication disbursement was always safe. The residents eat home cooked meals every day. I can't say enough about the excellent care she received here.
