I have also reported the incident directly to CarMax Customer Relations so CarMax has the opportunity to review and address it appropriately. The employee involved was identified to us by another CarMax employee as Sophia. I had an extremely upsetting experience with an employee who another CarMax employee identified to us as Sophia. My father's first language is not English, he has a noticeable accent, and he has difficulty clearly enunciating some words because of a previous stroke. While he was trying to communicate with Sophia, I repeatedly observed her smiling and grinning in a way that appeared mocking and condescending, as though she was suppressing laughter while he spoke. I did not hear her explicitly say anything about his accent or ethnicity, but the timing and repeated nature of her reactions were extremely upsetting. Later, my father simply asked for another copy of the receipt for our down payment. Sophia said it appeared we had already received one. When I questioned why another copy couldn't be provided, she became argumentative with me. I acknowledge I was frustrated, but I specifically told her I wanted to END the conversation with her and asked for a manager. Instead of getting one, she continued arguing with me even after I repeatedly said I no longer wanted to speak with her. Another employee eventually stepped in, and when we asked him for a manager, he immediately got one. Even while I was explaining the situation to the manager, Sophia remained nearby looking toward me, grinning, pursing/pouting her lips, and raising her eyebrows in a way I perceived as mocking. The manager, thankfully, was professional, understanding, and handled my complaint appropriately. He told me he would speak with the employee because the behavior was not acceptable. We were there purchasing a vehicle and trading in another one. Regardless of the issue we encountered with our trade-in, no customer should be made to feel mocked or belittled while struggling to communicate, and a request to stop an argument and speak with a manager should be respected. I have formally reported this incident to CarMax Customer Relations and requested that the surveillance footage from that evening be preserved and reviewed.

The engine had good power and the automatic transmission shifted smoothly as well. The automatic power top was not working at the time and this was not a critical item for me. I will fix it in due time. The ride was not as smooth as it could be and so I will replace the shocks and/or struts when time and money permits. This is my 3 used car purchase from Hani in over 20 years. He is an avid car enthusiast as I am. He always buys special and or unique cars e.g. some with immaculate leather interiors, all the repairs records and/or with OEM books, new or almost new matching tires, very fast cars with Turbos or superchargers, sporty, luxury, or both. Any used car we buy will always need additional work, maintenance, parts, etc. But, in my experience with Hani's cars, he has been very successful in acquiring cars with a lot of potential. And, his prices have always been extremely competitive and more than fair and reasonable. When buying used cars, it is always "caveat emptor" (Let the Buyer beware). That is Latin and legal terminology used when purchasing used homes and/or cars, etc. It is our job as Buyers to examine the products and to decide whether or not we are willing to accept the flaws and or issues along with its great selling points as well of any used property we purchase without any warranties whatsoever.
