He said "Hi" back & immediately input our info. He asked for the keys & had us wait in the waiting area. I would say it took about 15 minutes for the eval & for us to come back to discuss the estimate/offer. I thought it was undervalued as I've been getting emails from Carfax almost monthly. I had even gotten my car washed but I guess they have some formula. Josh mentioned something having to do with tariffs being a factor but I didn't see the correlation since it isn't even a new car that needs to be shipped?? Anyhoo, they must have some formula. There were only maybe 3 other families there so it wasn't crowded. There were lots of cars in the lot, though. Once the vehicle is evaluated as they drive it off the parking spot, they drop it off in a designated "Express Pickup" spot. This review is for selling a vehicle. We came in around 1:30pm to sell a vehicle. We waited 15 minutes for an appraisal then another 40 minutes while it got appraised. Once it was appraised, we had to empty our vehicle, bring the vehicle to the service side and turn in the appraised form to the business office. It took an hour for the business office to process everything. You'll turn in the title, give your IDs for them to copy and the keys. Once the business office is ready, they make you sign the sales agreement. Then they make you sign the title, they also made us sign a POA for the title since our title is from Hawaii. 10 minutes later, we were given copies of everything we signed and a check for the full amount from the appraisal. The whole process took 3.5 hours and was minimal stress. Staff was friendly despite being a busy Saturday. Wonderful sell experience! read more

Hello! On December 26th, 2024 I bought from Carmax San Antonio (Fountainhead Dr.) a RAM 1500 made in 2015 for $24,850. Not even two months passed and the car broke on February 18th. I wasn't able to start it. The car was towed to the Carmax facility and kept there for 11 days. They were going to repair it because it still had the Carmax 3 month warranty. Being a commercial car, my company has lost a lot of money because I wasn't able to work with it for 11 days. Carmax agents told me that Carmax does not take any responsibility for that. In these 11 days the communication from Carmax was very poor. Unreplied e-mails, unanswered phone calls, they promised to call back on the same day but called the next day after I have reached to them again. It was always me who had to reach out to them. They took the car to a third party repair shop. I had to call the shop myself to find out updates about the car. Carmax agents told me: "We weren't able to get a hold of them." I called the repair shop and in 2 minutes they gave me all the updates. I've decided to sell the car back to Carmax and they gave me an appraisal for $17,000. That is almost $8,000 less than what I paid for not even 2 months earlier. I have put into the car only 2,000 miles. The last drop was when I realized that the 11 month warranty they gave me for the repairs does not apply for commercial vehicles. So, basically I'm left out with nothing. I would have been open to buying another truck from Carmax had they evaluated my RAM for the price I paid for it. I've never documented my Carmax experience, so here it is: My experience with purchasing a vehicle from Carmax was very easy. I found the vehicle online and made the decision that I was going to buy the vehicle. I uploaded the pictures of my trade-in and scheduled a test drive. The entire process was smooth. I was approved by multiple lenders and was given some very good financing options even the option to keep my trade-in and low to no down payment. The gentleman who assisted me was Mr. K. (Kafele Starling). He's a great salesman and very honest. He was available via phone and email, and even assisted with providing options when I was car shopping again. Although, I decided not to purchase my new vehicle from Carmax, it was not due to bad experience because again, I had 0 concerns with my previous purchase. Carmax sells cars that has underlying issues. My daughter car kept creeping after a few months of getting it. We finally found the issue after a year and alot of money spent. There is the piston on the driver side that should have a bolt but it was held together with a zip tie.WTF!!!. Went into this Carmax to see if they had a particular Enclave in stock. Lisa looked it up and told me they don't know when vehicles will become available but that she would place a HOLD on it for me to come and look at when it did become available. She sent me a text on July 20th asking if I was still interested in the that particular vehicle. I told her I was interested in the vehicle. So Sunday July 25th rolls around and I received an email stating that the vehicle was ready from me to look at and that there was a hold on it for me. I followed the prompts of the email verfiying my interest. This morning I called the Carmax where this vehicle is located and the run around begins with Christine. Apparently there was a hold placed on this vehicle by someone else not that long ago---- so even I had a hold on it first they're now just going to dishonor my hold and basically sell the car to someone else. The only reason I did not purchase from CarMax is due to the high interest rate and required down payment with 14k negative equity going into a vehicle. My FICO credit score is 743 and ended up buying a truck from Universal Toyota, as it was able to to carry my negative equity with a lower down payment and 0% interest. So I loved my experience buying the car and had no issues for a full year. My ac compressor went out and luckily I had purchased the extended warranty. Dropped my car off and picked up a rental for 7 days which I had been told was enough time for my car to be repaired. This is where things get a little mucky with the level of service. Positive- *Provided a loaner vehicle when my rental expired until the repairs were completed *I had a damaged bumper that they further damaged/ broke while getting ready to install the new compressor. They replaced my bumper at no cost to me. * updates were regular Negative- *Received a call the day before I was to pick up and told that the new time frame for my repair was going to be 60 days later as they could not find the part. * the loaner vehicle left me stranded and needed to be jumped. There was no one who could help me as it was a Friday evening. The service department was closed over the weekend so I was without a vehicle for two days. *When I picked up a different loaner I got home and the battery in the key fob died. I sourced and replaced it myself as it had a push start ignition so had no other option. *received a call that the technician reported my battery was bad and that they had to jump start each time to start my car. They offered to replace it (for added cost) I informed that my battery was only six months old and to not replace as I would deal with the manufacturer. I asked if they had checked the alternator to ensure it wasn't the problem. They said they could run the diagnostic for 90.00 After running the diagnostic they stated the alternator was fine but that battery was still an issue. I didn't have it replaced but had no issue starting my car when I picked it up or when I took it to where I purchased the battery (autozone) The retailer ran a second test on the battery and alternator and both were fine. *I found a diagnostic readout from Carmax in my car that said the battery was fine. When I called and asked about it I was told that it was from the alternator test that required a new battery be put in to complete. I asked for the read out that showed my battery was bad as autozone said it was not and I was told that they don't provide that. I pointed out that I had paid 90.00 based on them saying there were issues with my battery and that it didn't seem to be the case and was told " I don't know what to tell you, I was there when the tech ran the test and it read bad" The whole battery situation seems suspicious /dishonest but I'm looking at the silver lining of a new bumper for 90.00 read more

They do the inspection on the vehicle and they mentioned everything was good. How come you can't even tell what the issue is and just counter offer for a lower price. My vehicle has 54,000 miles on it. Hence this place is a total waste of time and they come up with the issues which the vehicle doesn't even have. Where do I even begin? I went in Friday and purchased a 2015 Subaru Outback. My sales representative practically swore up and down the car was vetted to be safe and dependable. I was told the car had been through an inspection with their service department. After spending around 9 and half hours in the dealership we left the lot with the car. Immediately we noticed a squeaky sound before even pulling off the lot. We brought this up and the salesman tried to tell us it was because of a plastic tag and that it had been removed. However, we still heard the noise, he then lied and said the noise would stop after the car "warmed up." Unsurprisingly, it didn't. In fact, 2 days later, on Sunday (car was bought Friday). The check engine light comes on. We go get the car diagnosed and there is a sensor issue with the engine. The same engine CarMax was supposed to have checked. To say I am upset is an understatement. This was supposed to be my first car and now it must be returned. My mother flew down to help me buy this car but now she must extend her stay which as you can imagine is not cheap. This has been extremely inconvenient and I am super disappointed because I had heard that CarMax was a great place to do business but I see otherwise. Oh, and their service department is only open Monday-Friday. So if you have a weekend issue like me, you're out of luck. Think long and hard about purchasing a used vehicle here. Bought a 2017 Cadillac XT5 for 31K Cash, They refuse to help me get my plate or title, when i call they are rude and tell me to just keep waiting. My temp tag expires in 2 more weeks and I have already waited 6 weeks. Last time i called they told me the plate takes 2-4 weeks to arrive. I called back yesterday and they said 6-8 weeks, its clear they are just making this up as they go. Also they were 1 hour late when delivering the vehicle to me. Tried to scam me out of $700 because of a "faulty" hood latch and cable. I was struggling to open my hood. Ended up paying over $100 to have my oil changed and the latch "lubed up". Come to find once I access the engine myself that the pin for the cable fell through the latch and was able to put it back on without replacing any of the parts they told me I needed. Rock Auto was great for ordering parts but now I will be returning the parts since nothing was needed in the first place. Sales department was a good experience. I was told if i had any issues to call the service department. Within the first week of having my car I noticed when reversing in my Camry there was extremely loud squeaking. I scheduled an appointment to see if they could fix the issue. Went to my appointment and was told breaks were changed. My car was still squeaking extremely loud I called back and they kept telling me I have to "break my breaks in" to me that sounds absolutely ridiculous. I scheduled for a SECOND appointment and all they did was sand down my break pads. My car STILL has extremely loud squeaking when reversing and I left my appointment thinking my vehicle was tested in reverse before leaving and IT WAS NOT. It took me FOUR DAYS to have a manager contact me. This next part is important I injured my leg and was not able to reschedule for an appointment when the manager contacted me due to not being able to drive for three weeks. Finally I scheduled my THIRD appointment at 10:00AM i arrived 10 minutes early and was staying there until my car was fixed at 10:30 I was told the parts have been ordered and my vehicle will be worked on soon they offered to Lyft me home and I kindly denied since this was my THIRD visit for the same issue I was going to wait. I never was updated I had to find someone and ask for a status on my vehicle. At 4:00PM I was told someone had to go pick up the parts needed to fix my car. I thought that was outrageous since I was told the parts were going to arrive before but now someone has to actually go pick them up. To top it all off they told me they couldn't fix my front wheels because that's considered "maintenance" but I was told when I bought the car if I had a issue they would fix it and the squeaking happen on the first week of me buying the car. I did not leave with my car until 5:40PM and still has the same issue nothing was resolved. The service department has absolutely terrible customer service no empathy for customers they don't know how to keep customers updated while there car is there and warranty just means they will pick and choose what is fixed even if you come within the first 90 days or 4000 miles of owning the vehicle. Such a terrible experience with the service department absolutely terrible and I hope they will treat other customers better. read more

TERRIBLE CAR BUYING EXPERIENCE I got a car from y'all on August 10, 2022 and it's been hell ever since. I immediately had to take it to y'all's service department bc the rear deferential wasn't properly inspected. The undercarriage came off while I was driving it home from the lot and tires make a noises while driving into a turn. This has been one of the worst car buying experiences. On top of all that the service department keeps lying about the part and when the parts are coming in and aren't ever reachable. They never call back after plenty of voicemails.
