Had a cut and colour done two weeks ago and couldn't be more pleased with the lasting result. My cut was by Acasia and colour by Jen. I had an idea of what I wanted but the result went above and beyond my expectation of what could be achieved! I'm very lazy when it comes to my hair and often it's styled however way I wake up. Now, 2 weeks later I'm still so happy with my low maintenance re-vamp and still getting compliments for the new 'do. The salon specialises in thick, wavy hair which was such a pleasant surprise because I didn't realise how much of a difference the look and styling of my hair could be with the right knowledge and treatment. Thanks so much to Self Salon. I'll definitely be back and recommending it to friends read more

Finding a stylist that cuts my hair the way I want it to be has always been a struggle for me. I've found it best if it's a good balance of my vision together with the stylists creative talent...a little bit of give or take in a sense. Having just moved to the neighborhood I decided to give Self Salon a chance and I was not disappointed! The location is fairly small but everyone is very friendly from the moment you walk in. Acasia cut my hair and honestly this is probably my favorite haircut I've ever received. She was super friendly as well as took into concern my thoughts while slightly changing things up (which turned out great!) I'll definitely be coming back every time I need to get my hair cut ^_^ read more

Easy online booking. Clean and cozy environment where I instantly feel relaxed walking through the front door. Staff warmly greets me, hangs up my jacket, and offers a comfortable seat for waiting. A good mix of style meets tradition, edgy yet practical. Stylists are well trained and spend time to cut in the haircut. They are not an average salon, you can expect a highly skilled and technical cut. I've been going regularly for one year and walked out satisfied, my expectations were exceeded. My colleagues are always full of compliments of the quality after each of my haircuts. Go here if you need to make good impression in your career. Acasia Rose is my gal, go to her!!! read more

I went to Self a few times over the course of two weeks to get my hair cut and bleached white, every time I was there I felt super welcome and comfortable. Torrie gave me the best haircut I've ever had, she was incredibly nice and easy to talk to too. Anna Rose did the coloring. It took two trips to get it really really white but both times she was patient and meticulous and also rad to hang out with over the course of ~4 hours. She also did an incredible job, I'm bumping into people on the sidewalk checking myself out in windows now, it's embarrassing. I couldn't be happier with my whole experience and don't have any reason to look for another salon. Thanks :) read more

Sarah came highly recommended by a friend, and I was absolutely ecstatic with her work! I am not a "hair person" and came in with fairly ratty hair but left feeling like a literal space mermaid. Sarah was sweet and professional. She definitely made me feel comfortable throughout our session and I felt well cared for. I originally asked for a turquoise balayage, but was excited to try Sarah's suggestion of adding more colors for a more dynamic, fun hairstyle. This woman is truly an artist. I cannot stress how much I love this style and cannot wait to come back for a touch up! PS: The salon itself is very clean and cute with a bright, minimalist atmosphere. read more

This is my second experience at Self and I am so pleased with my hair. I booked my first appointment with Susan for a haircut and my hair came out beautiful. For my second appointment, I decided to get a hair color. I never colored my hair before so I was a little nervous but Sam listened and made sure I was happy with my hair before leaving the salon. My coworkers been complimenting my hair cut and color and wanted to know where did I get it done. I highly recommend this salon because I had a wonderful experience, I felt pampered and I appreciated that both Sam and Susan took their time with my hair. read more

I just want to say that I literally downloaded the Yelp app just to leave a five star review for Self Salon. I went in for a correction haircut after I had let a friend drunk cut my hair and it was all wonky. The staff were very welcoming and put me at ease immediately. Paul Keo cut and styled my hair and he did a great job! I told him that I needed something low maintenance that I could wash and air dry- it's perfect. I honestly can't remember the last time that I have had so many compliments on a haircut! All of the stars :) read more

I've been getting my hair colored by the phenomenon known as Kat for years. She's a true artist and the only person who knows how to concoct the perfect platinum for my hair. I trust her so much that I let her tweak the color as she sees fit (last time she mixed in subtle touches of violet to give me a gorgeous, cool toned white. It is beyond GORGEOUS!!!). I refer everyone I know to her and they all get hooked!!! I can't say enough about how talented and amazing Kat is. Every time I leave Self salon I feel like a new woman!!! read more

I came to the salon to get my hair lightened but instead, I ended up over-processed hair and damage to my curl pattern. I have had my hair bleached previously at a different location and had a really good experience, so the problem is not my hair. I felt ignored as a customer for my concerns. I feel that businesses providing a service should be as quick to respond (if not quicker) to concerns their customer's voice as they are to take money from people's hands. read more

Great Haircut with PAUL KEO today. The whole experience was painless. I called for a same day appointment, I waited only about 5 minutes for Paul to be free and then the consultation was fast and clear. He knew what I wanted right away. 30 minutes later I was done. I will come back. I love the relaxed atmosphere and the fact that it does not have the characteristic hair salon smell, you know the one, burnt hair, and toxic chemical stuff. Love it. read more

I really felt like they really listened to my needs, and I'm very picky regarding my hair. As soon as I walked in, receptionist and assistant offered me a beverage and asked to hang my coat. It was raining and they were definitely attentive. My stylist was AMAZING. I love my haircut! My stylist was Antony and he was fantastic. He was very thorough with my hair and took his time. I will definitely be coming back! read more

After going to the Williamsburg location & loving it, I decided to stop in here for a curly haircut. Paul was my stylist - he was so attentive to what I wanted & gave me my favorite cut ever! He was super helpful, making sure I knew all right tips - definitely going to go back to him for future cuts. The receptionist & salon assistant were also kind. definitely try it out if you're just thinking about it!! read more

I hadn't colored or cut my frizzy-then-ugly-blonde hair for a year. Anna Rose is ahhhhhmayyzingggggg with color. This is by far the best highlighting/coloring/whateva ya call it I have ever had. A coworker of Anna Rose's (sorry I can't remember her name, I didn't get to see her before I left) did my cut and I just couldn't be happier. I feel fabulous! Thanks girls! read more

I recently visited Self Salon and had a pleasant experience. The atmosphere was inviting and the staff super friendly. My stylist listened to what I wanted and delivered just right! However, I felt the wait was a bit longer than expected. Overall, a solid choice for hair care; I'd definitely recommend it! read more

I'm thrilled with my haircut & overall experience. I came in with a vague idea of what's I should change with my hair, and Chelsea worked with me / showed me images of the perfect cut for my face shape and style. I was so well attended to and definitely recommend this place to anyone. read more

Acasia Rose is the absolute best. She has been cutting my hair for over two years and I couldn't be happier. I look forward to seeing her each and every time and she has been instrumental in my hair evolution. I just know I am in good hands. read more

The staff is nice and the place is also nice but if you're looking to get a color job be prepared to pay at least $200. You'll be happy with your hair, but $200? I don't think so. read more
