When I went to replace my progressive (distance) glasses with prism lenses (to correct double vision) and computer glasses without prism, they quoted a price of $6,200, including a charge of $4000 for the prism refraction with lenses made by Zeiss. The next day I discovered that COSCO Optical can provide similar frames and same lenses for only $330 (20 times cheaper) with lenses made by COSCO Optical Lab. I am not aware of any complaints by other customers about the quality of prism lenses made by COSCO. The prices at Medical Eye Center are way out of line.

Mid September, on a Friday evening (after closing time), I received a text requesting a copy of the insurance card and my appointment would be cancelled if I failed to respond in 72 hours. On the 17th I arrived 1/2 hour early to be told that in fact my appointment was cancelled and it was their fault, but I would need to reschedule and take another day off from work. Within the destroyed apartment, was a pair of prescribed glasses. The American Red Cross provided a voucher, for an eye exam and a particular brand of frames to replace my prescription eye glasses. After some on-line research, I came across Eye Associates. I scheduled an eye exam, informing the receptionist of the American Red Cross voucher. I provided my contact information, and a link was emailed to me for first time clients. There was some confusion with the Eye Associates receptionist, regarding my American Red Cross voucher. I don't believe Eye Associates receives many vouchers from the American Red Cross. Some additional staff members of Eye Associates became aware of my situation, and immediately informed Dr. Hatal Rana. The Eye Associates staff was very professional and provided words of encouragement due to my recent crisis. Dr. Hatal Rana informed the staff the American Red Cross voucher was acceptable, and I was asked to be seated. Dr. Rana provided a through eye exam, and I was sent to the other side of the space for my prescription eye glasses. Mark provided excellent customer service throughout the entire process. Two weeks later, I was informed my glasses were in the office. I appreciate Eye Associates exceptional customer service during this difficult time in my life.

The office manager very sarcasticly said, "you still can." So I said "cancel my appointment," and walked out. By the way, while I sat waiting to be seen for that 15 minutes, I found it very unprofessional for staff to be discussing another patient, which is what I heard. Terrible Experience & Unprofessional Handling of Insurance…read more I arrived at this office dealing with severe eye irritation that left my left eye swollen shut and highly sensitive to light. Unfortunately, the care and professionalism I received matched the physical pain I was in. Upon entering, the staff was unapproachable and cold, and Dr. Jan addressed me only by name to give staff directions in front of me while entirely skipping a basic greeting. Before my exam, which included a painful laser photo that left me needing a moment to recover. I explicitly verified my insurance coverage again. Despite having called ahead to confirm insurance, receiving two text reminders, and having the appointment confirmed day-of, the receptionist shouted across a crowded, very small waiting room immediately after my procedure: "You can't see the doctor without paying out of pocket. We don't take "Name of insurance!" She literally yelled outloud the name of my medical insurance carrier. When I reasonably asked why my appointment and insurance had been repeatedly confirmed beforehand, the receptionist simply shrugged her shoulders coldly and demanded I leave, while Dr. Jan closed her office door to avoid the situation steps away from me. To be subjected to public humiliation while in acute physical pain, with zero empathy, compassion, or accountability from the staff or the physician is completely unacceptable. I left in pain and deeply disappointed by this establishment. Avoid this office inside of Costco if you expect basic respect and competent administrative communication.
