The poc choc chicken had good flavor but was hidden by the mound of flavorless slaw. The el pastor was good, fiiled with flavor and nice diced pineapple taste. My wife enjoyed the asada and puerco taco. We had requested medium salsa but there was no heat. My chips were more like the crumbs from the bottom of the bin. The grilled veggies were decent. For all the hype, I was not impressed. The food was fair to good but the cabbage or slaw overwhelmed and hide the protein flavor in the tacos. I met Esperanza, the grill mastress, on my way into the Convento location, which is the perfect place for a winter weary traveler to dine. The courtyard is large and sunny and full of plants and pups and cyclists stopping in after their morning ride. The restaurant does not serve margaritas, but the restaurant in the same courtyard has a walk-up window to spike the jamaica or prickly pear juice you just ordered. The portions are large enough for several diners, so be prepared. It's somehow a fresh spin on something traditional and classic. The only way i could love this place more is if they had fresh green corn tamales. I now have a standing date with Seis anytime I'm in Tucson. read more

I'm a huge fan of cochinita pibil and was so happy to find it on Seis' menu. I ordered the quesadilla version and it came hot and cheesy with a side of cilantro rice. I wish I could do justice to the cochinita with my words, but honestly, I was too hungry and happy eating that I didn't get a picture. I also requested the medium heat salsa which was the verde, and it was consumed just as fast. I ordered the pineapple cucumber agua fresca and it was almost as thick as a smoothie. The flavors were good and well balanced, but there was no way this drink could be had with a straw. It's kind of a meal in itself due to the pulp. It's not a huge gripe, but I would have liked it to be a little more liquified. I believe all the seating is outside and the order taker/cashier will assign you a table. It was nice to sit in the courtyard but at certain points of my meal, I was being basted by the sun. Prepare to wait in line, bring your patience. My go-to food is always the tacos. They have a great taco plate in which you can mix and match different tacos. There is a large variety so that you can get something new each time. For sides/apps, the guacamole and the calabacitas are my favorites! Very fresh and full of flavor. I've been coming here for years & know it can be busy at times. Fish, Fried Avocado & Shrimp Tacos were all very good, decent portion of fish & shrimp as well as the avocado. Ingredients were fresh & the 3 salsas they always have were very good. Mom had the Calabacitas side & I had Cilantro rice & Black Beans, all were well prepared & enjoyed. There is no indoor dining at Seis, it's in a patio with several space heaters that can be moved if needed, but keep this in mind during winter. It can get cold! No beer or alcohol is offered at Seis, but there is a nearby bar attached to another restaurant that will serve you & allow you to take your drink to the Seis seating area. They kinda "share" the patio, but be aware they don't allow Seis diners to sit in their seating area which is right next to Seis' area. If you know this in advance it can help you to avoid being told to move to another table with your food. You order food & pay at the window & they give you a number to put on your table & a server brings it when ready. There isn't much more customer service after that so don't expect them to check in on you if you need anything else. People watching can be good here as you will see couples, families, bike riders, tourists, locals with dogs & everything in between. My go to is the Avo Breakfast Burrito with the Hot Salsa. After confirming I liked burritos, he gave me directions. I ordered the Pac Huc burrito. It was stuffed to the size of my head with guac, rice, beans, and grilled pork. Mid food, mid experience for premium price. Group of 6 ordered and the price was well over $150 for tacos and aguas! That's a hefty price & raises the expecations. Unfortunately we felt we've had way better tacos from traditional taco shops and street vendors. To start off, the good. The Aguas were great! We had the watermelon limon aguas & they were the right blend of sweet & sour on a hot day. The bad: chips are yellow corn tortilla chips, not hot, just room temp with red & green salsa that had flavor but no heat. We asked for a hotter salsa & they gave us a habanero salsa which was a little hotter, but not much. For the tacos, we collectively had pastor, poc chuc, adobo, birria, & crispy fish. As they came out in the steel taco holders, I knew we'd be getting the overpriced bar tacos. Tortillas were yellow corn, room temp & flimsy. All of the tacos were room temp, even the meat. The adobo had good flavor, but gotta be hot. The pastor tasted like orange chicken. The poc chuc seasoning was nothing to write home about. I personally didn't have the birria but those at the table said those were the best of what we bought. Overall for $25-30/person we expected HOT food, better ingredients & better flavors. Apparently this is a Tucson institution and rightly so! There's always a line at this casual Mexican spot. I tried the crispy chips and salsa, best chips in town! The salsa was good too. The crispy fish taco was my favorite, hot and fresh fried fish with a homemade corn tortilla and A perfect blend of cabbage, cilantro, cheese, guacamole and House sauce. Our table and my seat were facing Estrella Bakery so of course I was forced to go in there and buy some delicious baked goods. We waited for our food about 15 minutes tops? I want to start off with saying that the food is AMAZING. The tacos and sides were all fantastic. I ordered the al pastor with black beans and seriously no regrets there. Someone else with me ordered the fried avocado and was a big fan as well. The drink selection was great, loved the horchata and other aqua frescas. The line takes forever though which is the only reason for 4/5 stars in my opinion. Once we did actually order and sat down the food came out quickly in comparison. It just wasn't a ton of fun standing in line for over an hour. After we did sit down (at the table they assigned) I was able to check out the other little shops in the market.
