I think See has a great selection of trendy frames but their customer service stinks!!! I ordered a pair of prescription driving glasses with non-glare coating that were supposed to be finished within a week to 10 days. I never got a call from them. I went in after a month and was told they were on backorder ( a phone call telling me this would have been nice) Then I was told they'd rush order them with a possible discount. Nope, a week later I go to get them and there's no non-glare coating on them. So then their response was "we will overnight them to you AT NO ADDITIONAL COST. REALLY??? Why should I have to pay extra for their mistake??? When I finally get them they'd forgotten to put my prescription in them. I call this BAD customer service. No compensation was offered just a lousy "sorry, I don't know how this got overlooked." I can understand one slip up, but three? I paid them well over $400 dollars for my glasses. I received them during the Ann Arbor Art fair when I could have easily bought more frames that were on sale but I didn't want to give them another cent for such horrid service. To make matters worse the son of the franchise owner was in the store and when I told him what happened he simply walked away. As for return business from me...NO thank you very much!! I was SO impressed with SEE, from start to finsh! My eye exam was thorough and the doctor explained everything at each step of the way -- not a small job since I have a number of genetic factors that need to be checked regularly. He made lots of spatce for me to ask any questions, and he was so thorough that I didn't have any. Then to picking out frames -- one of my least favorite jobs in the world. The staff (so sorry I don't remember your names) made it a breeze -- one of them went and selected about 15-20 pairs in all price ranges that she thought would look good on me, and suggested that I try all of them. She then waited patiently while I dd that and sorted them into great, ok, and reject piles as a first step, then narrowed down the selection. Another staff member joined us and they both gave me opinions on which looked best. I had expected to get something close to my existing frames, but with their coaching, ended up with a pair that make a much bolder statement. I absolutely LOVE them, and have gotten many compliments in the week since I picked them up -- and they came in faster than they said! I went to SEE because I had an employee discount from Zingerman's, and they earned a regular customer from this experience. You are in good hands when you go here. I had an appointment for an eye exam and was directed right back to the exam room with no wait where the doctor got right to work sculpting my prescription. He checked the health of my eyes and explained everything along the way. The doctor was very easy going and thorough. I then sat with Krystal who was very helpful and offered her opinion when picking out my two pairs of glasses. She took care of the insurance end, I paid my balance and was on my way. read more

I came in for an eye exam with Dr. Johnson on the day of the Women's March (not so good planning on my part), and I had a great experience. The store was packed, but the people working were very nice and let my boyfriend and I sit and wait for the doctor. Dr. Johnson was very professional and performed my eye exam quickly. I just visited See for the first time, and I am so impressed! April assisted me with booking the appointment on the phone, and she also helped me in-store. She is truly an expert in customer care. She manages to find the perfect balance of personal attention, warmth, and efficiency. She chose glasses for me that I never would have picked myself, and I love them! Amazingly, the optometrist, Dr. Andrew Johnson, was just as wonderful. His exam was thorough but efficient, and he explained things to me that no one had ever taken the time for in the past. He identified and corrected problems with my previous prescription, and I'm so pleased with the changes. I had long been intimidated by the boutiquey atmosphere of SEE, certain that a heavy price tag would be attached. My final cost was totally reasonable. Plus they offer a credit card - 6 mos, no interest. What a great way to finance your new specs. The staff they listened to all of my zillions of questions and answered them knowledgeably and without making me feel like I was a neurotic weirdo. I was offered help without feeling pressured + the staff made me aware of discounts and special offers. The frames feel sturdy, quality, but the prices on the stickers seemed high. I found myself trying to rationalize the cost assuring myself the quality would be far better than what I'd find in cheaper frames. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that prices aren't just for the frame, but the pair of glasses including scratch resistant lenses. Talk about how things should be done; way to go SEE! Go here for the frame selection, not for the price. If they don't accept your vision insurance, they give a size-able discount, which is nice. Ordered glasses/lenses and got them in about 10 days. If you see something you like, don't wait around too long because their selection changes every few weeks. I dock them one star because the staff are not as attentive when you first walk in as they should be. On the couple of occasions that I was recently there, they took forever to acknowledge my presence even though there was usually only one other customer there they were helping. SEE has a relatively small selection of frames, but they are truly excellent. The consultant I worked with picked out frames that I would have never selected. After wearing them I day, I was crazy about them and received numerous compliments from strangers. Their prices fall along the bottom of the high-price scale. You can by cheaper, but with less qulaiity and style. You can buy more expensively, but will be just as happy with the quality and style. They frequently have coupons and promotions on their website. So I had a limited amount of time to devote to finding the perfect pair of eyeglasses to compliment my everyday look. I rushed to make sure I had my prescription because fate told me I would find them at SEE. Boy was I glad I did! I walked in there today to find a....party in the house!! Apparently they were having a Fall Trunk Show this weekend which meant even more savings for moi...always a win! The staff there was extremely helpful...especially Vito. They would give you time to focus on your mission and then check up every so often to make suggestions. The snacks also helped since it seemed like I was in there forever! Horrible customer service. In the store browsing frames for 20 minutes before I quietly waited by the desk of THREE unhindered "saleswomen" to ask a question about a frame. They then told me that none of the frames I was interested in would work for my prescription and did not assist me with finding any that would. My first experience with SEE Eyewear was this year. Although I have lived in the area for the past 6 months, I had yet to find an eyecare facility that I felt comfortable with. Previously, I had been going to Bennett Optometry. I WAS NOT impressed. While the office was presentable, the staff made me feel that I was an inconvenience to them rather than their patient. I believe that being surrounded by excellent service and environment can make all the difference in the world, so I kept searching. Que SEE Eyewear. When I entered the store, I was pleasantly surprised at how laid back and fashionable the office was. I loved the selection and atmosphere that I found myself enveloped in. To say that the service exceeded my expectations is an understatement! I was helped by Joe'L, whom I would recommend to ANYONE looking to actually enjoy picking out eyewear! He is extremely intelligent and was able to determine both my needs and wants when it comes to my glasses. He has a sparkling personality that made me feel at ease. I fully trusted him to find the frames that worked best for me, not the ones that would provide him/his store/company with the biggest profit. As we made our way through several frames, we determined which ones flattered my face the best, and I feel that he truly did care that I be happy with my selection. Also, to my GREAT surprise, Joe'L brought to my attention several discounts available to me without even asking! I ended up purchasing 4 frames from Joe'L, and can honestly say that he provided me with the BEST experience possible at SEE Eyewear. Fantastic customer service here. I came in because BOTH of my pairs of glasses (non-See brand) needed repairs and I was desperate. I was sheepish as this is a very nice shop and I hadn't purchased here before, but the employees fixed my glasses quickly, kindly, and FOR FREE. I took a look around at the displays before leaving and decided that I'll be back when I'm due for new glasses later this year. While I was there, I observed customers being served with expertise, grace, and professionalism, so this is a shop I'll definitely patronize. read more

Great people and great products! I'm new to glasses and new to everything that people who wear glasses probably have forgotten about needing to learn. I.e. Like how to clean them lol... These people were great and took a ton of time to help fit me with two pairs that I felt comfortable in and then give me some tips for daily care and such. I will say that if you are looking for more of a traditional feel to your glasses, this may not be the store for you because they are basically all super trendy unique looking. I plan to always get my glasses here even though they don't take my insurance, I was able to walk out of there with two pairs of new glasses with the prescription lenses and a eye exam for a reasonable price. My experience at see was terrible, the "mean girls " clerks ". I told them that I didn't want really big frames do you my eyesight making my eyes look really big,the clerk said to me,well look at my frames they are in fashion and make the bags under my eyes show more but that's better than wearing unfashionable frames. Worst customer service. I made an appointment for an eye exam for me and my husband but his wasn't scheduled and they acted like they did us a favor "squeezing him in". Then I was told my glasses would take a week to come in, when we tried to pick them up at the same time as my husband's they weren't there. No updates for another week. Called back and there was an "error" so they sent them back to the lab (without telling me) but expected them early the next week. Thursday I call back again and was told they "just arrived". I was fed up with the lack of communication so I cancelled my order. Beware of ordering if you actually need glasses to, you know, see. read more

I walked in with a snapped pair of glasses and a back-up frame, and a *wonderful* lady there happily put my lenses into the backup frame (same as the ones that snapped). I didn't even buy these glasses from SEE, nor am I able to buy my next pair (I need specialized lenses that SEE doesn't carry), but this lady freely offered her time and skills without charging me even so much as a dime. What an incredibly wonderful experience I just had at this great establishment that I would highly recommend for all of your vision needs. After having awful experiences with my prior eyeglass place I found myself over 500 miles from home with broken glasses. Fortunately I walked into the right place. I was immediately greeted with a wave and smiles from the kind and courteous staff. April - with over 25 years of experience managed to cleverly replace parts that are basically unobtainable so that I could wear my main pair. Elaine, the other excellent staff member pointed out that my current glasses weren't sitting right. She didn't have to say anything but she did AND fixed it! I had been so frustrated by going back to my eyeglass place in NY and complaining that I gave up. These people went above and beyond to provide world class service. I was pleased to find out they have locations in NY that provide full service exams, contacts, and both prescription and non-prescription eyewear and I will definitely be going there. I had a situation in which my old frames were wrecked but my lenses were still in pristine condition, so I wanted to replace the old frames with an identical set of new ones. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the same style in stores anymore, but they still could be found online, so I ordered a brand new set of frames. I then took them to SEE, based on good things I had read about them on Yelp, wanting simply to have the old lenses installed in the new frames. I expected to pay for the service, and gladly would have, but I was not charged. That's the good part. Vito, who assisted me, was very sociable and gregarious, and in fact was gabbing with another customer, turning around frequently to chat with her as he was working on my glasses. Once he handed me back the glasses and I went home with them, I discovered that the screw that now held the eyeglasses together on one side did not at all match the manufacturer's screw on the other side: 1) It was a different size from the manufacturer's screw size, having a much larger head and being longer than the original, so the end of the screw was sticking out; 2) it was upside down, with the head of the screw on the bottom and the sharp end sticking up beyond the top of the frames, so that it was visible over the top of the glasses; 3) it was not the original color of brass, but instead silver colored metal. It was clear to me that in his carelessness, i.e., turning around to chat and not giving my glasses his full attention while working on them, Vito had dropped the new pin, had not bothered to look for it, or I would have seen him do so, and lacked the honesty and courtesy to tell me that he had lost the pin and had replaced it with an ill-fitting, mismatched one. When I returned, a different employee offered to send my glasses to their lab to get a correct screw installed, which would take a few days (leaving me unable to see during that time). He then glibly commented "You get what you pay for," a comment that was rude and not warranted. If I had payed for the service I received, which I had been prepared to do, I doubt that the outcome would have been different. I doubt that if my glasses were sent to SEE's laboratory they would have matching brass screws and anyway, and I do not want to entrust my glasses to SEE again. If you are only concerned with being hip and dealing with hip-looking staff, then perhaps the SEE shop is for you; if, however, you are seeking attentive, careful and honest service, look elsewhere! read more

I hate to rain on the SEE parade of glowing testimonials, but there is sure room for improvement from where I sit. Bought a nice pair of specs in 2011. Great service. Great frames. Problem is the lenses started to show a hazy or frosty appearance in about a year. Store said the anti reflective coating was degraded, and it was because I must not have cleaned them properly, not because they were defective. I clean my glasses the way I have cleaned them for the past 60 years with no problems. Though just out of warranty, the store refused to extend it to cover this problem and said they could replace the lenses at a cost to me. Since I felt this could be a quality problem, I talked to the store manager over the phone to discuss. She said she would get back with me, but never did. I contacted the headquarters customer relation department and left a message. They never got back to me either. Everybody at SEEs I have dealt with has been courteous, but my problem has not been addressed. My solution was to get a new pair of glasses with nice frames at a competitor for far less than the price SEEs wanted me to pay for the replacement lenses. I want to say something about SEE's lens's and frames first. Their lens's are great,I can see!!!,and their frame selection is amazing!! I was shopping at another place before I went to SEE. I had the hardest time seeing with the glasses I'd purchased from them----. So, I took my daughter's advice and went to SEE Eyewear.She's been a customer of SEE for over 10 years. I couldn't be happier. I will say I had a little problem with one pair of the frames not fitting quite right. Their also was a bit of conflict with a employee. I called See headquarters with my concerns and I could not believe the quick responds. They contacted me the very next morning. Andrew and Alexis apologized with great sincerity for the incident that happened. They assured me that SEE is a family owned business and cared very much about their customers. They were so very understanding and went above and beyond to fix the problem . I can not believe it. They really did compensate me for my troubles . They greeted me with welcome and warmth at the Birmingham store. They gave me a full refund,two pairs of progressive lens eye glasses and a beautiful box with eye glass cleaner to hold all my eye glasses.WOW!! Again, if their eyeglasses sucked I would not be going back no matter what.I do like their products/eyewear. I'm so glad they did reach out to me.
