She showed us a specific 10x30 unit we liked and quoted us $219 per month, compared with the $199 rate shown online for a generic 10x30. We particularly liked the unit's location and the fact that Suzi lives onsite, which gave us some comfort from a security standpoint. She also told us that, under a new California requirement, storage contracts must disclose the maximum rate a customer could be charged during the first 12 months. We appreciated what appeared to be transparency. Unfortunately, everything unraveled once we tried to reserve the unit. Suzi told us that, to receive the $219 rate for the specific unit she showed us, we would have to make the reservation online because the price would be higher if we rented it in person. The problem was that the website would not allow us to select or reserve that specific unit. My husband therefore made an online reservation for a 10x30 so that we would at least have a reservation in place, and then called to make sure it could be applied to the unit Suzi had shown us. Unfortunately, he was unable to speak with Suzi because she was not "on duty," so he was instead routed through StoragePRO's centralized customer service and an onsite employee named Danielle. Over the weekend, he was bounced between centralized customer service and Danielle. By then, the price for the same unit had already increased from $219 to $249. Danielle initially resisted taking a message for Suzi, insisted she could handle the issue, and then ultimately said there was nothing she could do. My husband called again on Monday. The price for the exact same unit had now increased again, to $279, just days after we had been quoted $219 in person. He again asked for Suzi to call us. She never did. I finally reached Suzi on Wednesday. Her first response was that "corporate" sets the rates and she could do nothing about them. After I explained that we had followed her instructions and tried to reserve the unit online immediately after our visit, but the website did not allow us to select that specific unit, she agreed to email corporate to see if she would be able get us the rate she initially quoted for the unit we wanted. She said she would get back to me early the next day. She didn't. When I had still heard nothing by that afternoon, I left her a message. Again, no response. So, within a few days: * We were told we had to reserve online to receive the quoted $219 rate * The online system would not let us reserve the specific unit we had inspected * The price for that same unit then went from $219 to $249 to $279 * We were repeatedly passed between centralized customer service and onsite staff * Multiple requests for a call back were ignored * A promised follow-up never happened * Even a follow-up message after that missed commitment received no response This was before we had even signed a contract or moved a single item into the facility. That is the biggest red flag of all. Once a storage unit is full, customers have very little practical leverage because moving everything again is expensive and disruptive. If this is how pricing and communication are handled before they have your business, it does not inspire confidence about what happens afterward. We decided to walk away and give our business to a storage company that actually seemed interested in renting us a unit, provided a written quote for the specific space we inspected, and understood that responding to and communicating with prospective customers is part of the job. Storage Master and StoragePRO gave us every reason to believe the pricing problems and communication failures would only get worse once all our belongings were inside and moving elsewhere became difficult and expensive.

beware!!!! dont rent…read morea storage space here unless you want to risk all of your valuables being stolen. shout out the "manager" lamont. i moved from a unit where my stuff sat safely for 2 years, into a bigger unit for cheaper (shouldve known) down a hallway without a camera, and 4 ways in/out. hmmm. within about a month, my lock was picked, whole unit torn apart, and all of my most valuable possessions stolen. ironically there are no cameras that show that unit, and if someone had access to other units they could move my stuff into a different unit in the same hallway, without any trace. and then sell the items later. this could only be accomplished by the manager or an acquaintance of his. my lock was picked, unit rifled through and the lock was picked again to re-lock it. only someone with time on their hands would be capable. draw your own conclusion there. i was paid out a tiny insurance payment that covered about 25% of the value of my stolen items. do not rent a unit here!!! i would give negative stars if i could. i paid thousands of dollars for over 2 years only to be robbed.

in the last week The two lovely ladies Terry and Mary who manage this facility are wonderful. They go out of their way to make sure every customer is a happy customer who is important to them. They treat you like family members and they are professional in the highest sense of the word! After having close to 40% of the storage units destroyed in the October 2017 Wine Country Fire Storms they worked hard to care for their customers and oversee the clean up operations. I hope they will be able to rebuild the units that were destroyed very soon so more people needing a clean, safe and secure place to store their belongings will be able to take advantage of the wonderful service provided by these very lovely ladies! Like most people who have used public storage more than once I have had a few bad experiences. Not with Terry and Mary ! These two beautiful ladies do their utmost to make sure each customer gets the best unit for their possessions, that the units are clean. This is a secure facility with 24/7 surveillance cameras everywhere. I have had some of my possessions like tools, fishing gear, antique electric trains and assorted household " stuff" I don't have room for in my apartment stored at Security Public Storage in Santa Rosa, California for 5+ years. I opened a unit at Security Public Storage a couple months ago. I had initially gone to another facility in the area and did not feel good about the location, staff, or security of the premises. The lovely ladies at Security on Hopper were immediately welcoming and friendly in a sincere way. They offered us free pens, a calendar, candy. Tracy and Terry were considerate and inclusive with my teenage daughter and chatted with her about several things while I completed the paperwork. During my transaction another customer came in to open a unit after having used them in the past and they remembered who he was and greeted him with a hug and a smile. Running a small business is all about creating relationships with your customers and they definitely do that. The business was started by their mother and the four sisters now run the operation. A photograph of their mom is hanging in their front office and you can tell the family ties run deep. We had such a good experience and I highly recommend this facility to anyone. I have had storage units in the past at other companies and never had this same quality of customer service. Maybe it is weird to have warm and fuzzy feelings about a business but this is certainly the atmosphere they create. read more

Security PS is in the second cluster of storage unit locations in Santa Rosa. Don't store anywhere on Santa Rosa Ave / Roseland even though the prices are slightly lower. Those units are easy to break into and I personally know people who have had things stolen from their units. So if you're going to go with a nicer and more secure storage service, you're smart to look at the hopper locations. I recommend Security Public Storage because Public Storage and Hopper Storage are not responsive and "checked out". While there are some things you can do to differentiate your storage as a "product" the main thing that differentiates storage unit companies is SERVICE and Security PS has the best service. They called us back right away, were flexible on when our contract date started and are just super nice all around. It's a franchise arrangement with a "mom and pop" feel--though in this case it's a mother-daughter operation. Also, I know for a fact that one of those big ABF Upack trailers fits in there. Security Public Storage on Hopper Ave. in Santa Rosa is a pleasant experience! A clean place to store your important items, and a place where the staff and workers always have a smile and wave, and take the time to listen to the needs you have for your stored items. Judy and Traci a Mom and Daughter duo run the place and make sure the grounds are clean, and picked up, and their water fountain always decorated for any particular season, a human touch that makes me smile everytime I come through the gate. I do not feel that my important heir looms and valued personal items are in somebody elses place. It feels like a storage closet, at my home. So if you are looking for a place to store important items, for whatever reason, this is the place, these are the people! I give it a 5 star rating, glad I'm storing my things here. read more

I have been searching for a safe place to store my extra stuff and have been very disappointed with several of the facilities where I have stored my things in the past. This place makes me feel like home. When I called around looking for storage they were very pleasant. I looked at the video online of the employees that worked there and they made me feel like my stuff would be safe. It took me awhile to make a decision and then they called to see if I was still interested. I said that I was and I signed up. I cannot express how thankful I am to the employees who made me feel welcomed. We moved our stuff in and I never feel uncomfortable going to the facility by myself. They always have coffee, a clean restroom and always are polite. I highly recommend this place as the employees treat you with respect and like family! read more

I can't say enough about how great these gals are to work with. In the process of moving, I was given their number to call by my fiance and they held a unit for me for about a week without a deposit. When I came in to sign the papers, they showed it to me, and I instantly realized it would be too small, so they found a unit that had been reserved for several weeks but never confirmed (they called that person to make sure they didn't still want it) and then offered it to me. They were honest about the fact that the units are actually slightly smaller than 'advertised' and explained how the owners get around that with the verbage "approximately". They have been great and would recommend them to anyone... Being new to the area, I feel so welcomed and feel like they are actually friends and looking out for me! read more

I have been a customer since 2004 when I moved out of state temporarily. The staff has always been courteous and helpful. In fact more than that, they have been welcoming and kind, treating me as a friend rather than a customer. I have never had any problems with their lighting, or with pests, or theft or property damage. In 2010 I actually finally had a local place big enough for all my stuff so no longer needed storage. My things were exactly as I had packed them, just a little dust and cobwebs but no animal leavings! Circumstances came up a year later and I yet again needed one and without even looking anywhere else, I immediately went straight back to them. I give them a 5 out of 5 and I will always go to them with my storage needs! read more

I don't normally take the time to comment, but I want to this time. I was searching for a large unit for my sons belongings who was traveling from out of state to move here. I had checked with other rental agencies and was very pleased when I found Security Public Storage. I was very happy with so many things. First of all the staff. I was greeted by Terry who is very professional and friendly, what a great personality... I was very pleased with the cleanness. She was able to get me all set up and ready for my sons move. I was so pleased with the prices and security that my sons belongs are in a safe place. and loved that there were supplies in the office in which I purchased a lock. I feel I have to write this review after receiving such excellent service from this company. I was forced into moving recently with less than a weeks notice. I was trying to find not only an apartment but a storage facility. After narrowing that search to 4 places I chose the Hopper av. Security Storage after 3 phone calls with Terry. The other locations didn't take any time answering questions and sounded like I was bothering them. Not Terry I could talk to her all day. When she showed me around and gave me the terms I had to go with her because it was everything I needed and it could not have been presented any better. Let me just start by saying that Terry and Tracy are angels sent from up above. They are so sweet and caring. To them they honestly take customers in and really go above and beyond. When renting there, I have been treated with the utmost courtesy. I am pleased to have met these two gals who have showed me that there still are good people out there. This is by far the best storage facility I have ever rented from in my life! Judy Freitas and her daughter Tracy Van Eck are truly real nice people who know how to treat the customer with respect and professional service. They are always ready to solve any issues and show you the best options as to type of unit needed for your property. I get a feeling that it is a "secure" place to store your property. The location is always in shape and very convenient to Hwy 101 and north west side of Santa Rosa. This storage facility is clean, well-tended, and seems secure. Security access is not complicated, easy drive-up and input code. "Streets" are wide enough to pass others parked in front of their storage and are kept clear. Turns within the facility are not tight. The proprietors are friendly, delightful, and helpful. Location is convenient to Highway 101 and Starbucks. Hours extend enough to access around employment schedules. My preference would be for longer hours, but so far we have had no difficulty in working with the current hours. Safety mirrors to see around driving corners would be a big plus. read more

I called around multiple places in the area and spoke to Tracy on the phone- her service was outstanding and is what led me to select them. Her follow up was thorough and timely and she made me feel very at ease, as I had never used a storage facility before. Very impressed by this facility!! We really needed an affordable and reliable place to store our stuff in a short amount of time. The on-site manager Terry was so amazing and answered all of our questions and helped us find exactly what we needed. The facility was affected by the fire so there are areas that are damaged but they are already in the process of getting everything repaired and upgraded and had no affect on our unit. Very flexible and accommodating. Could not have asked for a better experience! Highly recommended! read more

I have rented since 1997 and have had consistent friendly service from both Judy Freitas and Tracy Van Eck. They are extraordinary. I love Security Public Storage on Hopper Avenue in Santa Rosa. I started with a small unit (5 x 10) one year and 9 months ago, on the row close to the office. Even when I came in late or stayed late, I felt safe. One year ago I upgraded to a larger unit (10 x 15), just across the driveway from my smaller unit. The facility is clean and other tenants are friendly. Staff members are always cordial and helpful. I've given it a 5-star rating: I am so pleased with my experiences there! read more

From the time I called in the friendliness and customer service was top-notch and very genuine. I personally appreciate this as a consumer, no matter what business I'm dealing with. They talked about my needs and pricing and how they operate and it was super helpful. No pressure from the reviews and pictures I felt and my phone call. I felt comfortable to do everything remotely in securing a unit with the idea once I needed needed it after office business hours I would be able to access and use it I went in person after my phone call and again the personalities of both employees super friendly and helpful and the facility facility is very clean. I feel like my stuff is safe here pricing is very competitive. I'm a very happy customer. Communications are excellent. Do yourself a favor and check them out. Thank you.

I am going to name the good…read morethings before the bad because I do respect them for allowing me to have a space there for so many years but I have to say my peace about my overall experience. Firstly if I was ever late they always made sure to give me a call. I did appreciate that as life these days moves so fast it's hard to keep up. I may have been late once or twice but I ALWAYS paid. (Even during the entirety of corona virus.) which brings me to my next positive. The front desk woman who usually is almost always there on the property has always been a very kind soul. She ALWAYS goes out of her way to communicate for the lack of (her management) and accommodates everyone as well. If it wasn't for the front desk woman I probably would've left much sooner than I did. I always enjoyed speaking to her... Now I must warn folks about this next part because as a customer who paid for so many years I believe constructive criticism is needed for a successful business to thrive. In the beginning in 2014 I paid 55$ for a small unit with the gentleman who owns the place. Back then that was a very reasonable price. I believe I moved up in size and that was 99$ for years. Last month when I paid for that said unit it was 109$ without my knowledge...apparently they (management) had sent me a letter in the mail notifying me CERTAIN units would be up charged. While I understand California is not easier to live in as the days go on I believe it would've been much better if someone had called me to tell me exactly why my CERTAIN unit was being up charged instead of a sneaky letter in the mail. So I decided to take my storage out that month and the management was so greedy they didn't even mention to me that they SHOULD pay me back for the days I wasn't in the unit anymore (about a week). When I asked the manager women (I am assuming Mark's Wife) if I could leave a small single table in the unit because my car was full of stuff from packing up she quite rudely replied "YOU CANT LEAVE THAT HERE." Not even a thank you for all the years I paid them. I sincerely feel bad for anyone who has to work with that woman. Last thing I will say is that 10am - 4pm hours are literally the worst times for a storage unit to be open. Some people have to work and those hours are terrible. Please change them to at least 7-7 for gods sake. It's very hot in Santa Rosa in the summer & the current hours are downright cruel to be in if your storage unit is directly in the sun. Anyway I wish I could give my experience a better review but I couldn't let this slide. I hope this place can sort itself out for that woman in the front.
