Amazing food, service and the portion sizes are huge!!! I dined in for my first visit and all though the server was working the registering and waiting tables he did a great job making sure we had what we needed. The ambiance was pretty causal and I loved all the plants. For my entree I ordered the orange chicken and I was shocked by the amount of food. The portion was enough to serve 4 people. I also ordered a side of veggies. But the orange chicken had a great balance of flavors and came out hot and fresh. The veggies needed season but were also hot and fresh. Third visit second review & last of 2025. Flawless! Massive portions & awesome flavor even without the spice I'm a 0 to .5 guy on spice level but it's undeniable this is a must try you have to go to this family style portion restaurant and when you finish you have enough food to eat the next 2 days completely worth it. The food here is tasty, the serving sizes are large, and if you request it - or miscalculate - it'll be spicy enough that you'll regret your life choices. Excellent. The restaurant itself is a bit small, and cars tend to scrape on the curb getting in and out of the parking lot, but overall I definitely recommend it. read more

Small family owned restaurant in Chalmette! The food is delicious and the portions are huge! Be careful on the spice because I typically get medium which I'd say is a 2/3 at other Thai restaurants but here a 1 is too much spice for me! I love their drunken noodles and the different stir fry vegetables! Tonight I tried crab rangoon here for the first time and I typically don't like them but the ones here are great. They use a mixture of imitation and real crab meat and the real crab really enhanced the flavor. The chicken satay is also a great appetizer and the peanut sauce and cucumber onion sauce were both really good. If you love Thai definitely check this place out! read more

Yelp & "Secret Thai Restaurant" owes me a undeserved star! I would have given them - ZERO stars ! On July 1st 2026, A regular and frequent customer, a friend of mine, a female came alone to Secret Thai Restaurant. She asked me to write this on her behalf who until today, loved this restaurant and the food, and recommended it to everyone in her very large circle of family, friends and many associates in the New Orleans Food, Travel, Hospitality and Tourism industry of the City of New Orleans. She had a most insulting experience in Secret Thai Restaurant. The order was given to a female waitress for a large Tum Yum Soup with extra rice. The waitress disappeared never came back! It arrived over an hour later, 1 & 1/2 hours later! The Tum Yum soup was instead of the large one, a small one! Instead of extra rice as ordered, no rice! As is normal an eating bowl is brought together with the soup, not this time, nothing to eat out of! Forty minutes later the soup was cold, a request was made again, and again and again for the rice, and additional compliments as ordered! However, nothing came, only a bowl of soup, she waited for the rest of the food and rice. Nothing came! Then approaching the window she said "Hello"!!! "I have been waiting nearly two hours for my food! I asked several times for rice already and nothing came in two hours!" This is ridiculous! can I please have my rice"!!!?? The owner, a man, cooking at the time, looked at her, with the meanest, ugliest, sour face, as if she did something wrong. It was mayhem inside the kitchen, orders wrong, endless returns of wrong food, repeat orders, total chaos and everyone in the kitchen and front of the house screaming, arguing and complaining! The waitress came to the table, finally, with the rest of the food of the original order. The bill came along with the missing food, which arrived two hours later, she placed the bill just above the soup in front of her face, cold soup together with the bill, and My friend said to her "thank you please leave it on the table", the waitress replied "No! I am not allowed to step away from this table without your credit card, by direct orders of the owner"! My friend paid right away, and could no longer eat this very cold soup. She asked for containers from a young male waiter, again it also never arrived! He came by thirty minutes later, asked are you ok? She replied "No I'm still waiting for the containers"! He ignored her and never came back! Finally she got up went to the kitchen window, frustrated, demanded forcefully, "can I please have my containers!! Forty minutes after her first request!" A total of three hours passed! Lots of time for a cold bowl of soup!!!! I arrived at 5pm I left with my cold soup at 8pm ! read more

Secret Thai is the winner for portion sizes among all the various Thai restaurant options we have in the New Orleans area. Their food is also able to be spiced at multiple levels so tread carefully with the spicier levels. The soup bowls here are the largest I've ever seen at any Thai joint and they are a full meal by themselves. The prices here are also very affordable and they offer a great value here for the amount of food that you get. Overall this is definitely one of the Thai places I frequent as the quality has always been good and the price is amazing for what you get. read more

This place is crazy! The portions are huge! And they have a spice system all their own starting at .5 which is quite spicy and then a1 which is very spicy and so on. We got the red curry no stars, the ghost gate pad thai with 1 star and the beef salad with .5 star. It was all very delicious! Especially the ghost gate pad thai which I've never had pad Thai like that before. The curry was quite spicy without any stars, the beef salad was pretty spicy and the pad Thai was very spicy. It was so much food probably could've fed 5 people. And the prices are decent for the amount of food you get. We went on a very cold day. I known what you're thinking, "is this place worth the drive to CHALMETTE?" to you I say "HELL YES!!!!" The exterior is not much to look at but what waits for you inside will not disappoint. First start by picking the spice/heat level. I like heat a lot but I would not go above 2 maybe 2.5. Portions are huge so be ready to take some home. First time dining in and food was delicious. The portion they give you is definitely a little more than what you pay for. Beware their spice level is pretty high. I got the Pad See Ew spice level of 0.5 and it was pretty spicy but delicious. Probably my new favorite Thai place in Nola. Their thai tea was sooo good too. I saw they had Green thai tea on their menu, which i haven't seen common in other Thai restaurants. Will have to come back to try it. The staff was friendly and service was pretty quick. Holy crap, the portions are HUGE. I mean ENORMOUS!! This place is possibly the best bang-for-your-buck restaurant in the entire greater New Orleans area. It's completely worth the drive to Chalmette! I swear, each order of entrées is enough to feed me for two meals, and that's coming from someone who eat a massive amount of food for each meal! Not only that, they don't just load you up on the carbs, they don't skimp at all on the proteins or veggies either. Disclaimer: Thai food tends to already be a little spicy. If you order extra spice to your dishes, start off with 0.5 level (not even a whole 1) because their dishes can get HOT! I haven't had an item I didn't like yet! I've tried the: *Pad Thai with Chicken ($14) - It's different from other Pad Thai I've had at other restaurants. The noodles are thin here. *Massaman Curry ($15) - Sort of like a red curry with potatoes and peanuts. It's a creamy, milder curry. *Red Curry ($15) - Yummy and as expected, a classic! *Thai-Styled Fried Rice ($14): Classic fried rice with eggs. *Basil Fried Rice ($14) - This is an amazing undersold fried rice. The basil gives it a flavor I can't get enough of!! *Chicken Satay ($9) - Basically chicken grilled on skewers covered in a savory peanut sauce. Now I have only gotten my food to go but the ambiance is inviting, very colorful with plenty of plants. The food is delicious, and the portion sizes are ridiculously large. I always get the drunken noodles and I can eat off of it for days! I also recommend their Thai tea, so rich and creamy. The prices are very low considering your portion size. The service is good but they take a long time. I recommend calling in advance with your order. Also, food is spicy so make sure you request the right amount of spice for your tastebuds. Food is still amazing as ever, but service is a little disorganized. Tried to dine in on a Saturday night around 6:30pm but we were told it would be an hour wait since they were saving some of the open tables for a large group reservation later that evening. So we opted to just place a to-go order and come back. We were told it would be a 2 hour wait until the food was ready -- typically their wait times are long but expect even longer during prime weekend hours. Staff seemed a bit occupied and stressed out with other orders and inquiries so it was a bit of a hassle finally placing our order at the register, but finally we paid and were told we would get a phone call when it was ready. 2 hours passed and still no phone call so we checked inside and were told another 20 minutes. Finally got our food around 8:45pm. Really disappointing as I love their food. The kitchen definitely prioritizes getting orders out for dine-in customers first before to-go customers, which is understandable, but a 2.25hr wait is crazy! We definitely should have just opted to wait for a table to begin with. To top it all off, my credit card statement is showing that they added an extra, *unauthorized* $3 to my bill. It could be an honest mistake, but nonetheless added to my most recent lackluster experience at Secret Thai :( read more

I mostly went because it was the only place in the area claiming to serve 'Ghost Gate Pad Thai'. It is not that. It is regular (if not overly sugary) pad thai with a side of egg. I FINALLY got my ass up and drove to Chalmette and tried Secret Thai. I'm in spice heaven! Anyone that knows me, knows I LOVE spicy food, LOVE LOVE spicy food and my spice level is pretty high up there. So I was pretty intrigued while reading the reviews that their food is pretty spicy, that a level 1 makes them sweat, and that no one should go higher than a 3. I ordered the Yum Woon Sen salad and they had no problem substituting the ground pork for ground chicken for me. When I said spice level 4, they asked if I was sure and if I ever ate there before, and I reassured them that is what I want. I really wanted level 5 but I convinced myself to go down a level. Also ordered tofu basil fried rice, spice level 0.5, I mean one spicy dish is enough right. Let me say, true when you read the reviews, the portions are HUGE. And the flavor is definitely there. It's soo good!! Yum woon sen salad exploded with flavor. The mint, cilantro and red onion brought the freshness and the glass noodles soaked up the juices and the spices, all of that went well with the ground chicken and nice size shrimps. The SPICE, oh the spice, it's spicy but, TO ME, Not overbearing. The kind of spice that I WANTED and that had been missing to every single thai food I ate before. I tried them last night. I got the "cup" of Tom Khar soup to start. I put cup in quotations as this is the smaller size of the 2 size selections. This came out in a large bowl! Was not expecting that but I was smiling when the waiter came to our table with it. It was delicious. Easily could've fed 2 people just off the soup portion. Then I ordered the drunken noodles with pork. Again, very large portion! Very tasty. I was able to take most of my food to go. I have plenty leftovers! You get value at this Not-So-Secret place!
