We always make a point to visit this restaurant whenever we're in the Marigny, and I'm so glad we did again this weekend. From the start, the experience was excellent--we were seated right away, and our server came over promptly to get everything moving. Although the restaurant was busy, it was comfortable and not overly loud. As always, the food did not disappoint. I had a cup of Tom Kha soup with chicken, while my husband ordered the Tom Yum soup with chicken. Both were perfectly spicy and absolutely delicious. We also shared a sausage appetizer, which was very good, and then split a shrimp and scallop entrée that was truly outstanding. I will definitely be ordering that again. I can't wait to go back.
While a group of us were in town from Chicago, we needed a break from local food and this place did not disappoint! 6 of us all have different spice levels too so it was nice when the waiter asked us individually a number between 1-5 and described them too. I have the lowest spice tolerance so I said mild/1 and it was spot on. Lychee martini had the right amount of sweetness. The chicken pad thai is a classic dish which was authentic and fresh. We were flying back early next morning so I gave my leftovers to a homeless person to give back.
I was really shocked at how great this Thai food was. I didn't see much Thai food or Asian cuisine in the area so I didn't know what to expect. The service was great, our server was very kind. I got the panang curry four star and it lived up to my spice expectations. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a change in pace from the local food.
Stopped in walking back from a jazz club because it smelt good outside had five dollar cocktail special on Sundays, which was fabulous very clean very good service fair prices delicious food. They are very serious about their heat levels. Be careful of that. I was overzealous in order to level four and was crying lol but the food was delicious.
Sukho Thai is a MUST if you're in the area. We ordered the Butterfly Pea flower Dumplings, pad Thai with the seafood combo and the eggplant lovers. Everything was amazing. Not only was it the best food we've had so far in NOLA but it was hands down the best Thai food I've ever had. Meg P was our server. She was so kind and helpful. She gave us great recommendations and was a real joy. Thank you Meg. The place is super cute too.
I have been on a mission to try every Thai place in the city and this unfortunately was my least favorite so far. It does have a lot going for it though as I gave it 3 stars. I just didn't love the food. I got the special and it was the pineapple fried noodles. The shrimp was a good size but I just didn't enjoy the flavoring in this dish. I would be willing to come back to try a different dish though. I will tell you what I loved now. We had one of the most enjoyable waiters I have had in a while. He was professional while still making some. I wish I could remember his name; I remember the tattoos and the fun socks he wore. I also loved the tea. I would probably be back to try all the different teas they offer here and at a great price too. I enjoyed the ambience as well. The umbrella decor and the space is bright and open with lots of beautiful natural light. Overall, it was aesthetically pleasing. They also have a very good happy hour M-F that lasts till 7. Those are sometimes rare. And there are good prices for their beers and they have a good variety of sakes as well.
We were in the area and decided to stop here. We have been a few times and this place never disappoints. The ambiance was very nice . Also Decorated nicely. I had the crab rice with level 1 . Yes it's still spicy but delicious and the crabmeat was plentiful. My daughter and husband loved their noodle dishes. Levels 3 which was quite spicy but they both still enjoyed. The service was great ! Food came out fast and hot !
I love Sukhothai. We have been to both locations. Our most recent visit was to the location on Royal. Didn't need reservations but still had nice vibes with people eating dinner on a thursday night. Our server was really sweet. We ordered the halloween cocktail specials they were running (1.75 for a martini is a steal.) We also ordered two appetizers, the dumplings with shrimp and crab and the veggie rolls. Both apps came before our drinks did, which wasn't a big deal, just kind of unusual. However, they were both very tasty. We also got the drunken noodles and the garlic beef as entrees. These were soooo tasty. My only complaint was I wish the beef was a little hotter temperature wise. The flavor and taste was so good. They give you an option of spice range 1-5. We did 2 on both which had a nice kick but nothing crazy. A good classic reliable thai spot.
Still one of our favorite places to eat on this side of town. Classic Thai flavors. Lots of options including vegetarian. Efficient service and staff. Calm vibe and comfortable seating.
My friends and I love local Thai restaurants and search for the best when we travel for work conferences. We were definitely happy with our choice for New Orleans. For my vegan/vegetarian friends, they have a really good selection of menu items, not just 1 or 2 entrees or appetizer options. We always order a bunch of appetizers and split them so we ordered roti with peanut sauce (or curry sauce), veggie tempura with tamarind sauce, chicken satay skewers with peanut sauce, and crispy tofu with sweet chili sauce and crushed peanuts. OMG!! The tofu triangles were battered and fried and the inside was soft and creamy and had a delicious crispy exterior. Way better than flash fried tofu you see at other restaurants (they all call it "crispy" or "fried" tofu but those are always chewy and not crispy. The veggie tempura had broccoli, carrot sticks, onion rings and zucchini spears- a good variety of vegetables! Their roti reminded me of the scallion pancakes without the onions so they were chewy and flavorful and perfect to dip into the peanut sauce. I ordered the chicken pad thai and it was stuffed with pieces of white meat chicken and very tasty. We split their dragons puffs (their version of beignets) which were basically triangles of sopapillas drizzled with honey and topped with fresh berries. Super tasty and light!
My wife and I visited this place a few times several years ago and she had been talking about it ever since, so this week we finally went back. There is one specific dish here that is over the top delicious: the herbal garden whole fish. It's a perfectly fried redfish/snapper with a spectacular sauce with various herbs, onions, and nuts. It was just as amazing this time as it was on our previous visits. It's my favorite fish dish, anywhere. Their other dishes are good, but the fish is what we love.

I was taken here by a friend. They're a frequent flyer - our server (shoutout to Maria!) already knew everything he was going to order, down to the desert! All of the food is priced extremely reasonable - I'd happily pay more for the meal I had today. The fried rice dishes offer a spice level choice ranging from 1 to 5. I had the Thai fried rice at a spice level 3... eating this dish was the first time I've ever tasted flavor in a fried rice dish. A 10/10 flavor profile from a dish I usually steer clear of. The restaurant was lit very nicely; warm, moody lamps on each table and dimly lit overhead lighting ran through the entire place. Everything was clean and looked nice! I look forward to coming back to dine in. read more

Great dining experience. Beautiful food service from thr hostess to the food. Our server was friendly and attentive. We went on the Saturday of Krewe of boo an hour before. They were busy but not packed. Our food came within perfectly reasonable time and was fresh and delicious. We tried several things and all were good. Shrimp pouch was my favorite. read more

Wow. Based on the good reviews I was expecting better. Our server was off from the first. She offered specials then checked while she was telling us what they were. I didn't know if she was new or uninformed. We also ordered drink specials which we never got. At the end of our meal I saw the bartender finally start to make our drinks and asked her to stop. It wasn't busy. Not sure what happened. We ordered egg rolls and green curry with Scallops and brown rice. The cook came out of the kitchen to say they were out of brown rice. We were served anemic egg rolls with no crunch, bland and somehow raw. The curry was oddly aromatic and again bland. Although the cook did deliver a half bowl of brown rice. It was a overall chaotic experience. Everything looked like it could get a deep cleaning. I would not return. read more

This was such a disappointment. For the price of the food vs the amount of food received to thumbs down. I have eaten at this establishment is the past, I really enjoyed the food. This time was not pleasant. The environment is welcoming but the entree was simply not good this time. read more

Kind and attentive staff, that are friendly with great suggestions! Fridays are happy hour all day, which means $4 beers and $6 wines... great deal! We tried the sampler appetizer (underwhelming because all of the wrappings - shrimp pocket and spring roll - had the same flavor. The presentation of the app was lovely though! The eggplant was delicious and packed with fresh flavors & veggies, the scallops and mussels were cooked to perfection, and the zucchini on the skillet was probably my favorite vegetable on the table! I wish we would have tried their pad thai, but will have to save it for our next visit! Bathroom and restaurant were clean, we were just a little bit warm where we were seated (corner by windows). read more

Wide rice noodles with/ fresh chilies, galangal, garlic, peppercorn & basil, stir-fried in light soy sauce with/ red bell, green beans, onion, carrot, cabbage, and tender beef meat. I really liked the tom yum noodles and thought that the broth was so good. The pad thai was alright. We ordered 2 orders of it and they came out a bit different from one another. I thought mine was good but my brothers was a bit oily and saucy for some reason. The thai tea's were good as well. Our waitress was really nice and there was a lot of seating inside and had a lot of natural lighting during the day which I enjoyed. read more

Slim pickin's for good Thai food that delivers, I get that. SukhoThai was one of the better ones, but my latest orders haven't been great, and my last order compelled me to review. In the most recent order, we asked for Drunken Noodles and Pad Kee Mao. Veggies were overcooked, there was not a single basil leaf in sight, and noodles were pure mush, not a single noodle in tact. Sweet soy sauce mush was what we received. In past orders, we received Eggplant Lover with barely any eggplant, sticky rice mango with undercooked rice and no condensed milk, dry meat with fried rice...just to name a few grievances. I don't expect to love every dish from any establishment, so I gave those a pass. I've ordered from here a lot through the years, and we had some decent dishes. After this last order, I give up. read more

Love this place!!! The ambience is incredible- low lighting, soft acoustic music, amazing smells of course from all the spices. The menu was more affordable than I expected it would be- this heavenly beef dish was to diieeee for. Also highly recommend the gyoza & roti bread appetizers (get both the peanut sauce and the spicy one- trust me). Perfect spot to go with a group of friends to share dishes family style. Team was very welcoming and I can't wait to return here! read more
Worth a visit though could not spot anyone on the staff who looked Thai; must have been in the back as the food was good as was the cold Sake. Friendly service, good value, funky space. They offer different "heat" preferences for some of the dishes so if you like it hot don't be afraid to order five out of five. read more

Wow!! I did not expect this spot to be so delicious! The food was absolutely amazing. So authentic, so fresh and so rich in flavor. We were here for a conference and after a few days, we just needed some Asian food or noodle soup in general. So glad we found this spot because we left SATISFIED. Cannot go wrong with the pork tum yum noodle soup. The portions were perfect and we went a little crazy with ordering but it was worth it. Highly recommend the black sticky rice with coconut milk. DELICIOUS. Servers were amazing and so attentive. read more
Date night worthy! We were attending an event nearby so we decided to dine somewhere near the event. Small, quaint, and inviting. When we arrived the hostess wasn't very welcoming. She showed no real emotion or really greeted us but she was saved by what ended up being our waiter, who was much more pleasant. We were seated by the window facing Elysian Fields which was great for people watching. I had a glass of house Cabernet which was excellent (can't remember the brand) and we had the soft shell crab for an appetizer. The food came out quickly, was perfectly seasoned and spiced, though my significant other preferred a tad bit more heat to his. Overall we had a great experience and will be back, though I'd love to try the Magazine Street location. We had a reservation, however it wasn't very busy. It's a small location so I'd imagine it getting busier as it gets later as we dined at 5 pm on a Friday. There were several people coming in for take out orders. It's in the Bywater so parking is hit or miss but we lucked up. read more

We decided to finally try this place after passing it so many times while in the Quarter. Since it's on the outskirts of the main areas, you may miss it until you are leaving and heading home. Don't do that! This place is great! The food is so fresh and packed with flavor. The restaurant itself is really inviting and cozy. Solid and yummy food choice! read more

Absolutely delicious food and great service! Sukho Thai on Royal St is a hidden gem. We stopped by in November 2023 on our third day in New Orleans after trying most of local cuisine dishes. The food was absolutely delicious! Perhaps the best Thai food we ever tasted. Flavorful, rich, perfectly done, with heat level exactly as ordered on a scale of 1 to 5. The menu was so big that we had hard time choosing as many dishes looked equally appealing. We settled on Tom Kha Gai soup and Ahi Katsu for appetizers and Salmon Pineapple Curry and Green Curry with Scallops for mains. The soup was one of the best Tom Khas we had and both mains were amazing like out of this world. The service was top notch as well. Our server Tasheika was very friendly, attentive, and helpful choosing dishes and the heat level of the food. We felt warm, comfortable and really enjoyed our dinner. Thank you! We highly recommend Sukho Thai on Royal St if you like Thai cuisine and you are in the area! They are just one block away from famous Frenchmen St. read more

Is the chicken pad thai more limey than peanut sauce?
The chicken pad Thai is one of the best in the city. Definitely not too peanut-y. Not too lime-y. And the fact that you can spice it to your preference is great.
