Cucumber Chutney

Stopped in walking back from a jazz club because it smelt good outside had five dollar cocktail special on Sundays, which was fabulous very clean very good service fair prices delicious food. They are very serious about their heat levels. Be careful of that. I was overzealous in order to level four and was crying lol but the food was delicious.

Sukho Thai is a MUST if you're in the area. We ordered the Butterfly Pea flower Dumplings, pad Thai with the seafood combo and the eggplant lovers. Everything was amazing. Not only was it the best food we've had so far in NOLA but it was hands down the best Thai food I've ever had. Meg P was our server. She was so kind and helpful. She gave us great recommendations and was a real joy. Thank you Meg. The place is super cute too.

so many teas!

I have been on a mission to try every Thai place in the city and this unfortunately was my least favorite so far. It does have a lot going for it though as I gave it 3 stars. I just didn't love the food. I got the special and it was the pineapple fried noodles. The shrimp was a good size but I just didn't enjoy the flavoring in this dish. I would be willing to come back to try a different dish though. I will tell you what I loved now. We had one of the most enjoyable waiters I have had in a while. He was professional while still making some. I wish I could remember his name; I remember the tattoos and the fun socks he wore. I also loved the tea. I would probably be back to try all the different teas they offer here and at a great price too. I enjoyed the ambience as well. The umbrella decor and the space is bright and open with lots of beautiful natural light. Overall, it was aesthetically pleasing. They also have a very good happy hour M-F that lasts till 7. Those are sometimes rare. And there are good prices for their beers and they have a good variety of sakes as well.

We were in the area and decided to stop here. We have been a few times and this place never disappoints. The ambiance was very nice . Also Decorated nicely. I had the crab rice with level 1 . Yes it's still spicy but delicious and the crabmeat was plentiful. My daughter and husband loved their noodle dishes. Levels 3 which was quite spicy but they both still enjoyed. The service was great ! Food came out fast and hot !

I love Sukhothai. We have been to both locations. Our most recent visit was to the location on Royal. Didn't need reservations but still had nice vibes with people eating dinner on a thursday night. Our server was really sweet. We ordered the halloween cocktail specials they were running (1.75 for a martini is a steal.) We also ordered two appetizers, the dumplings with shrimp and crab and the veggie rolls. Both apps came before our drinks did, which wasn't a big deal, just kind of unusual. However, they were both very tasty. We also got the drunken noodles and the garlic beef as entrees. These were soooo tasty. My only complaint was I wish the beef was a little hotter temperature wise. The flavor and taste was so good. They give you an option of spice range 1-5. We did 2 on both which had a nice kick but nothing crazy. A good classic reliable thai spot.

Still one of our favorite places to eat on this side of town. Classic Thai flavors. Lots of options including vegetarian. Efficient service and staff. Calm vibe and comfortable seating.

Crispy tofu with sweet chili sauce and crushed peanuts

My friends and I love local Thai restaurants and search for the best when we travel for work conferences. We were definitely happy with our choice for New Orleans. For my vegan/vegetarian friends, they have a really good selection of menu items, not just 1 or 2 entrees or appetizer options. We always order a bunch of appetizers and split them so we ordered roti with peanut sauce (or curry sauce), veggie tempura with tamarind sauce, chicken satay skewers with peanut sauce, and crispy tofu with sweet chili sauce and crushed peanuts. OMG!! The tofu triangles were battered and fried and the inside was soft and creamy and had a delicious crispy exterior. Way better than flash fried tofu you see at other restaurants (they all call it "crispy" or "fried" tofu but those are always chewy and not crispy. The veggie tempura had broccoli, carrot sticks, onion rings and zucchini spears- a good variety of vegetables! Their roti reminded me of the scallion pancakes without the onions so they were chewy and flavorful and perfect to dip into the peanut sauce. I ordered the chicken pad thai and it was stuffed with pieces of white meat chicken and very tasty. We split their dragons puffs (their version of beignets) which were basically triangles of sopapillas drizzled with honey and topped with fresh berries. Super tasty and light!

My wife and I visited this place a few times several years ago and she had been talking about it ever since, so this week we finally went back. There is one specific dish here that is over the top delicious: the herbal garden whole fish. It's a perfectly fried redfish/snapper with a spectacular sauce with various herbs, onions, and nuts. It was just as amazing this time as it was on our previous visits. It's my favorite fish dish, anywhere. Their other dishes are good, but the fish is what we love.

seafood dish - mussels, calamari, shrimp, scallops, veggies

Kind and attentive staff, that are friendly with great suggestions! Fridays are happy hour all day, which means $4 beers and $6 wines... great deal! We tried the sampler appetizer (underwhelming because all of the wrappings - shrimp pocket and spring roll - had the same flavor. The presentation of the app was lovely though! The eggplant was delicious and packed with fresh flavors & veggies, the scallops and mussels were cooked to perfection, and the zucchini on the skillet was probably my favorite vegetable on the table! I wish we would have tried their pad thai, but will have to save it for our next visit! Bathroom and restaurant were clean, we were just a little bit warm where we were seated (corner by windows).

The food was good! Prices are fair! Very classy indeed if you're looking for a nice setting and style! Maria was awesome at servicing us!

The food was great! Especially the plum sauce added to the drunken rice! Meg was awesome as well! Excellent service and really sweet!

A Traditional Thai sausage with onions, cabbage, cucumber, and pork rinds in dipping sauce.

Over twenty years ago, my husband and I stumbled upon this excellent family-owned Thai restaurant in New Orleans, and we have been coming here ever since. Whenever we visit the city, We make sure we visit one of our favorite restaurants. We have traveled the world and tried many Thai restaurants, and time and time again, this restaurant holds a special place in our hearts. It's one of the best, if not THE BEST, Thai restaurant we have ever had. If you're craving authentic Thai cuisine in New Orleans, SukhoThai's Elysian Fields location is a hidden gem that consistently delivers bold flavors, generous portions, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Nestled just steps away from the French Quarter, this spot captures the energy of downtown and the elegance of traditional Thai cooking. SukhoThai offers a cozy, intimate vibe with tasteful Thai-inspired decor gold accents, carved wood, and soft lighting make it a great setting for casual dinners and date nights. An elevated Thai dining experience in a relaxed, neighborhood setting. Whether you're a spice lover, a curry enthusiast, or simply looking for a comforting bowl of noodles, this place delivers consistently and deliciously. Service is professional, warm, and attentive. Our lovely waitress knows the menu well and is great at helping guests navigate spice levels and recommendations. It's clear the team takes pride in both the food and the guest experience. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Supreeya, and the Chef. Supreeya generously offered us a taste of one of her favorite appetizers, a traditional Thai sausage with onions, cabbage, cucumber, and pork rinds in dipping sauce. It was delicious! When visiting New Orleans, this Thai restaurant is a MUST!!! The menu is expansive and impressively authentic. A few standouts from our most recent visits: Panko Softshell Crab Softshell crab deep-fried in Asian bread crumbs, with/ spring greens, spicy garlic aioli, and mango tomato chutney. Crispy Tofu ( Vegan) Fried tofu strips served with plum dipping sauce and ground peanuts. Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao) Bangkok-style spicy street food.  Wide rice noodles with/ fresh chilies, galangal, garlic, peppercorn & basil, stir-fried in light soy sauce with/ red bell, green beans, onion, carrot, cabbage, and tender beef meat. Packed with heat and flavor--ask for "medium" unless you're ready for serious spice. Panang Curry Beef A mildly spicy aromatic Panang curry with your protein of choice, zucchini, green beans, bell pepper, and sweet basil, topped with fresh coconut milk and garnished with lime leaves. It's rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced with just the right level of coconut sweetness and herbal depth. And for beverages we opted for Lychee Martinis

Tom Yum Noodles
Darian C.

I really liked the tom yum noodles and thought that the broth was so good. The pad thai was alright. We ordered 2 orders of it and they came out a bit different from one another. I thought mine was good but my brothers was a bit oily and saucy for some reason. The thai tea's were good as well. Our waitress was really nice and there was a lot of seating inside and had a lot of natural lighting during the day which I enjoyed.

Ask the Community - Sukho Thai

Is the chicken pad thai more limey than peanut sauce?

The chicken pad Thai is one of the best in the city. Definitely not too peanut-y. Not too lime-y. And the fact that you can spice it to your preference is great.

We arrived sans reservation, but were whisked straight into the courtyard -- arguably the best seat in the house on a pleasant Louisiana evening. Between the soft night air and the glow of the courtyard, the atmosphere alone deserved applause. The cocktails arrived first and immediately set a dangerously high standard: beautifully crafted, perfectly balanced, and the kind of drinks that make you consider canceling your plans afterward. Fortunately, the food rose to the occasion. The edamame and roasted Brussels sprouts disappeared with alarming speed, and the Amelie Salad was a standout -- generously portioned, fresh, vibrant, and substantial enough to be an entrée or ideal for sharing if you're pretending to be civilized. A special nod to Liz, who elevated the entire experience with spot-on recommendations, warm hospitality, and the rare ability to be both attentive and effortlessly relaxed. In a city famous for memorable dining, this meal still managed to feel special -- equal parts elegant, welcoming, and unmistakably New Orleans.

The host was extremely welcoming and friendly. Our server and helpers were over quickly to drop off waters and greet us. I ended up ordered the salmon. With it being so early and only one or 2 other tables besides my friend and me, the food did take longer to come out than I expected it to. Both of us did thoroughly enjoy what we got. The salmon was crispy on the outside with a nice sauce over it. We thought we'd have time to get dessert so we ordered a couple but that too took a very long time. We finally waved down our server to cancel and get the check since we had to be somewhere and he apologized and said their WiFi was going in and out so it could be that it was registering on the kitchen side. That may have explained why our entrees took too long. If it wasn't for the service and the food being great - I would not be thrilled about timing. We got there around 5:30p and had to leave by 7:15p so an almost 2 hours experience that probably could have been 1 hour.

Getting there about 5 mins before they opened, there was one couple in line in front of us waiting for them to open. Once they opened, we were immediately seated. They have a nice menu loaded with all the typical NOLA favs. We opted for a half order of their Muffaletta and a Cubano as well as a side of red beans & rice. Their red beans & rice was tasty! Nice texture and flavor. The Muffaletta was really good! Loved the warm, soft, fresh bread... I believe they make it there. The meats and the olive spread were so very fresh and tasty too. The Cubano was a fav as well... made so nicely and packed with flavor too. Their Cuban bread was spot-on as well. Service was great! The warm Italian Muffuletta was another highlight, loaded with ham, Genoa salami, pastrami, Swiss, provolone, and olive salad on fresh seeded Italian bread. Absolutely delicious and a must-try when visiting. To finish, we had the Chocolate Doberge Cake, which was rich, decadent, and the perfect ending to the meal. Entering through the tunnel you get the sense that you're stepping into a place you shouldn't really be and Sylvain seems to accentuate that with this secretive environment that feels almost like a cocktail lounge. The service was fantastic with the hostess seating us for our reservation right away and the waiter being incredibly patient and helpful during our dinner. We had someone in our party love the playlist here so much they asked the bartender for it as well. The menu is bold and complex but they were happy to strip it back to basics if needed. It was extremely cold in the restaurant though, so make sure to dress warm, especially in the colder months. We ordered their cast iron cornbread, chicken sandwich (no pickles or hot sauce), and their special of the night which was a pork-veal mix sausage on a milk bread bun and topped with sauerkraut. The cornbread was dry but the flavor was good. The butter they gave with it had cajun spices infused and gave it a nice zip although it was a bit too salty. Their fried chicken sandwich was delicious, light and crispy with salty shoestring fries that hit the mark. Lastly, their house special of the sausage was great. The sausage itself was well seasoned and the bun was soft and sweet. It was a bit salty with the added sauerkraut but the mix of flavors was still delicious. We also ordered a drink, just erotic not kinky, which was delicious. It's a bourbon with blackberry and lemon juice that was strong and refreshing at the same time. Sylvain is a culinary delight surrounded by an area that demands it. The food could be a tick better but it is still very, very good with fantastic service to bolster it. Whether you want a casual dinner or to drink cocktails in the French Quarter, this is a spot that is worth a look and your money, especially if you're with a big party.
