This is a great hidden treasure in Maui. Look for the walkway between the rock fences. The beach is small but beautiful, and there is a little area that you can wade out into. The most picturesque beach we went to in Maui. Soft yellow sand, ultra clear blue water, swaying palm trees, and black lava rocks with tidepools. You won't be the only one here but it's much less crowded than Makena Beach to the North. We went during "peak" time in late afternoon and at 9 am and both times there were other people there. It's very easy to find, google maps will lead to it accurately. You'll be in a residential neighborhood trying to find a break in the black stone wall but most likely you won't be able to spot it because cars will be around the entrance. The cove you walk into is part of the secret, you can go exploring north and south to find more though the only entrance we could find was through the black stone wall. read more

I honestly would have thought that it wouldn't be really secret since this place showed up a lot online but it really was beautiful and a little secluded still. When we found the entrance and got onto the actual beach, there was less than 15 people around this area. It was nice to be able to relax around here and dip our feet in the water. Keep in mind that it's a little rocky and also may not be safe to swim over here if you're just looking to hang out in the water. Definitely worth a short trip here, especially if you're staying in Wailea. read more

Secret Cove is a hidden gem. The water was clear and cool and the sunset there was stunning. Finding the cove was a bit tricky, and there's not much shade, so bring sun protection, but it's a lovely spot to relax and enjoy Maui's beauty. read more

The entrance is a walkway between 2 rock walls. There is no official lot and parking will be the handful of unofficial parking spots along the side of the road. From there it will be a very short walk to the beach itself. The main beach is quite small. It was quite crowded when we went around 1pm. It has soft fine sand (with not a lot of rocks or driftwood). There are some shaded areas under the trees which would be a great area to relax or read. It may not be the best location for swimming due to the large rocks. Note that there are no restrooms or lifeguards here. read more

I only stumbled upon this hidden beach thanks to online research and coming across people parked purposely in a more isolated residential area. It's like your own private cove away from the bigger more populated Makena Beach. We stopped by afterwards on a late afternoon and were literally only 2 of 4 people there. There's limited unofficial side street parking and a random narrow passage way along with ducking underneath trees to access the cove. Most of the shoreline is rocky and surrounded by cliffs. The incoming fast surf water somewhat resembles Makena, without the neck breaking height and strength. It seems like a great place to hold private events, but not much else going for this as a beach. I'd rather stick to the sun, sand and water of Makena. read more

Well, if I know about it, it's not a secret. This was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL place for me to watch the sunrise and sing "I Am Moana" for my Instagram story. I saw crabs and tiny fish, and the ocean view is gorgeous. By the time the sun rose, two other people showed up to get a view. I saw a tent pitched on the rocks, too. Love it! read more

AKA Po'olenalena Beach on Yelp. The dirt parking lot is small and gets filled pretty quickly. There are no restrooms or showers. The beach is made up of 3 cove-like areas. The northern most cove is pretty protected from winds but is also unofficially clothing optional. The water is usually calm and nice for swimming, and is shallow for quite a few feet out. Sunsets are gorgeous! My only two gripes are the thorny kiawe trees that line the trails and parts of the beach which result in numerous foot pokes, and the droves of ants that seem to come out of the wood work in the late afternoon. read more

SUPER SMALL LITTLE BEACH, but very relaxing and hidden from large crowds. I love that they have a little lava rock area with tons of water coming in, so it was refreshing going in the water, taking a bunch of photos and laying out on the sand. read more

Ohhh how i miss you Secret Beach! Wish we have you here in California. Clear blue water in a tiny secluded beach, south of Big beach called Makena beach. Clothing optional but being naked is mucho better in the water. Party every sunday and the sunset is so romantic, freaking amazing. Sorry no pictures of sunset my phone died at the end of the day. No cellular signal. Take another camera with you if you want to stay all day. I don't have problem with parking. I'm always lucky to find parking anywhere i go. read more

We heard that this was a cute little clothing-optional gay beach. But apparently, when we clarified later, that's mostly Sundays. Other times, it's a little bit like a heterosexual retirement nude beach. Which is fine, just not my jam. read more

It's a beautiful beach, for sure, BUT be very aware of your surroundings! My friends and I parked here for 5 minutes just to check it out (for a potential pop-up wedding location) and in the time we were away her car was broken into. I think potential thieves realize that tourists are attracted to this beach and the parking along the dirt road makes it easier for people to grab and run. As for the beach itself, it's a little small (we opted to not use it for the wedding location) but the view is gorgeous. read more

We found this place on our last day in Maui! I kept feeing like I was missing something on my time on this island. I wanted to find a beach that I found it calm, not so crowded with shade and okay for the kids to play in. We sat by the shaded area when the tied would come in the water would hit all the way up and leave like a natural pool and the kids would play in it, we spent 4 hours lying around, playing in the sand and water, taking photos by the rocks and cliffs (beautiful photos came out). I am sad that I didn't find this place sooner. Although we found it through yelp this place should remain a little in the low that way it doesn't get over crowded it would suck for the people that live there to have the amount of tourist ruin their spot or worse have it so bad the band people that don't live there all together. read more

Beautiful! My husband and I went here early this morning. A couple was getting their pictures taken, and an artist set up to paint. There were never more than a handful of people on the beach at a time! And it is gorgeous! We saw a turtle, a cute gecko, and the sand is soft and white. No bathrooms or showers, and I probably would not snorkel here due to the rocks, but it is lovely for hanging out and relaxing! We may plan professional pictures here on a future trip! read more

Such a cute little cove. Really low key and not crowded despite seeing a wedding and several photo shoots. Saw some turtles and fish while snorkeling but it's a pretty rocky area. A must see if you are looking for a relaxing and casual spot to enjoy the day! read more

I got married on Makena beach (secret beach) and it was amazing! This small hidden gem is beautiful for a sunset beach. Parking is on the side next to the stone wall. We got a permit so that we can have the ceremony here but there will still be other people visiting. No one bothered us but it was hard taking pictures because of other visitors. The waves were extra hard and it was just breath taking! read more

This is a tiny double beach hidden behind a wall with one small entrance that is easily overlooked. It is just south of the big beach at makena. It is very secluded and popular for weddings. There are rocks pools on each end and also in the middle, and is about 100 yards long total. There is some shade from the trees overhead and the sand is beautiful.not suitable for kids esp when the surf is up. read more
