I called numerous times to try to make an appointment but kept getting either a continued ringing or a sound that seemed to indicate it was waiting for a fax response. I finally got through to an answering machine the day before my daughter was due to be in the area. I left my wedding dress at this shop on consignment before the pandemic. Let them know when their time to sell it was up and the pandemic was in full swing that I could not come retrieve it given the circumstances of everything being shut down. I checked back with them much later, once everything had settled down, and they told me it had been sold and they would pay me what I was due. Only to then email and say that since my dress had been left outside the time (due to a global pandemic!) that they would not be giving me the money I was due after all. I went back and forth with the shop several times and was told the owner said they would not be paying me. So, this shop kept the hundred of dollars I was due for selling my wedding dress. I would suggest NOT taking your dress here for consignment. And not shopping here if you think you would be upset if this happened to you! read more

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! I had high hopes going into this appointment, from previous experience when shopping for my sister in law's wedding. Sadly, it was a different experience for myself. It seems they have different staff. Right away, when getting there the energy was off and very unwelcoming compared to my first appointment. The blonde associate was speaking to us like children. We started off looking for dresses, I selected three dress. As I was rushed into the fitting room. While my bridal party was still in the process of adding a blue tags to any dresses they would like me to try on. I let her know if she wanted to get started, if we can gather my bridal party so they can see the dresses I picked out. She opened up the curtain and was like okay, already seemed annoyed. I asked my mom to call the girls since they were looking for dresses, and us not knowing because the rules were not explained. We would get reprimanded for walking around the store looking at dresses. Keep in mind there were no rules gone over at the beginning of the appointment and if that was the case why would she rush me into the fitting room until all dresses were selected. After talking to her about what I was wanting, she was not getting it, she even asked for photos and it felt like she was showing me dresses she wanted. She stated, I have to be open minded. I asked, if I could put on my clothes back on to look for dresses since again, she was not understanding what I was wanting to try on. After walking to the other side of the store, the manager and the blonde associate not remembering my friend was still on the FaceTime call. The MANAGER signaled the associate to cut the appointment short. As the manager stated, "she clearly doesn't know what she wants, And she's clearly not going to buy anything". After my friend cleared his throat letting them know he was still on the call. They jumped and said did you hear that? Once they realized he was still on the call they moved somewhere. Then when I found two dresses, the blonde associates says well you only have five minutes left. I looked at the time and i was confused since this appointment was 90 min. The associate said her manager said it was for one hour, but as a type A person i am, I knew I added it correctly to my phone. At that point, I got the message. I am very disappointed in the manager and how she handled this situation, instead of helping her associate help me find a dress, she felt like it was a waste of their time to cut my appointment short. IT WAS ALL ABOUT THE SALE TO THEM. If you are looking for an enjoyable and welcoming bridal shopping experience this is not the store for you. read more

The receptionist was very kind, but store policy requires credit card information over the phone to secure an appointment. I"m sorry, but this is not okay in this day and age. Also, when I made the appointment I was asked to divulge my tastes in wedding dresses. I was at a DMV while attempting to make the appointment and I stated I wasn't willing to discuss over the phone. Maybe an email/text would be a more discreet and professional option? I don't really know what my tastes are yet again unnecessary pressure. The best place to buy a gown to get more bang for your buck. My gown was a sample dress- originated for $2800 and I got it for $1400. Lots of beading and glam detail. Pros: Excellent service. Lots of options, nice brands, and styles. Cons: Bad lighting. The lighting does not do these gowns the justice they deserve. Tip: Make sure to take pictures as you try on! I reflected on the pictures that night and then was able to decide on a gown. read more

Was really disappointed in my overall visit and left feeling upset and crappy. They started the visit by asking my dress size which I said was usually a 2-4 depending on the dress. My consultant then proceeded to call out I was probably going to be closer to an 8! I was shocked and felt like I had been insulted. I understand bridal gowns run differently but she did not explain that well at all. She let me pick out a few and I told her I was looking for something boho and if possible a two piece dress. She pulled multiple tops and skirts for me to pair (none of which matched well). She helped me put the skirts on and she kept trying to clip them in tighter than they needed to be to the point I couldn't breath. When I did breath they came undone. She then pinched me with the clip while trying to adjust a top never once saying sorry. She was overly aggressive and made me very uncomfortable. My consultant ignored all of my comments and even my bridesmaid agreed the consultant was more focused on pushing a sale than trying to help me find my dream dress. The dresses themselves looked dirty, had tears, and were overly priced for their condition. I will not be back. read more

They continuously did not answer email or phone. Second Summer Bride is the only boutique in Austin to carry Vera Wang (non - White). Audrey is awesome. Had they been open during the two days I went dress shopping, I most likely would have purchased from Second Summer. They are closed Sundays and Mondays. Most of their dresses are in ivory, the color most haute couture dresses are purchased in. All of their dresses are in immaculate condition. I was very impressed. They have more floor space than Melange. Their dresses are in better condition than Serendipity. I will be coming back to sell my designer Christos gown, veil, and hairband after my wedding. I was thrilled to find out most of the gowns had never been worn, some even still had the original tags, yet are still discounted healthily. My gf and I walked in for my appointment and were helped by a lovely brunette attendant. She was chatty and pulled 3-4 dresses for me. Most importantly she wasn't pushy, and entertained us with details about her own wedding. I found a dress that I fell in love with but it was $1,800 and more than I was willing to pay for a second-hand dress. There were a ton of ornate, high quality dresses but there didn't seem to be a ton of dresses under $1,000 in their inventory. Either way, it's a more environmentally friendly than buying a dress that is worn once. i ended up going with another dress, but I def recommend SSB to my fellow shopping brides! read more

Update 2/24: I got a call from the Manager. She apologized for my experience and it felt sincere. She offered a few solutions to earn back my business and did tell me that they do have orderable dresses so there is actually more than what I saw. I am impressed they took the time to call and that they read their yelp reviews. I edited this instead of updating because if you update it doesn't change the stars or average for the business. The previous review was 1 star. I would give this business another chance because I understand one employee is sometimes all it takes to ruin a business experience and that's not really fair. I did not have a good experience here. I called to set up an appointment a week ahead. I told them my size and budget and asked if they would have a good variety of dresses to try on. This was the only appointment I made for the day and my first stop with my friends and family. When I got there the consultant had is look through dresses and pull a couple I might want to try and then said she may pull some additional choices and we could try some order able options as well since we had enough time before the wedding. They had a very small selection in my size to choose from and I pulled 4 dresses to try on. I liked one and 2 I didn't come out in because I didn't like them. The last one was just ok. After the 4th dress the consultant came back and said "ok so I will see what else we can do on that first dress you liked" and that was it. She didn't pull any dresses. Didn't try to accessorize me and didn't seem happy I was there. 20 minutes and the appointment was over. I am a size 16 in Bridal. It seemed like she saw me, knew they didn't have anything for me and gave up on me immediately. The woman who greeted us was friendlier than my consultant. I have gone in twice (so far) and had a great experience both times. Sarah B helped me back in July when my fiancé and I stumbled in after driving by. We didn't have an appointment but Sarah treated me like I did. That was my first time trying dresses on, so I wasn't terribly serious about it. I went in again today and worked with Katelyn who was also just fantastic. Again, we were driving by and I was like, "let's just see what they have." I found a dress online I'm not quite sure about so I guess I wanted to see what else is out there. Probably don't be like me - make an appointment like a good bride. Well of course I tried on this amazing pink dress that I just love, but it's not one that is a re-sale (be warned the entire store is not off-the-rack). So it's more than I can afford and there probably isn't enough time to order it before my April wedding. Yeah, I know I said I can't afford it but I can't get it out of my head. Clean and sunny with no wait time and friendly, helpful staff, I found an absolutely stunning Saison Blanche Boutique dress for more than half off its original sale price. Crazy!! SS is conveniently next to a stellar seamstress who's done dresses for Blush. She had worked on the exact model of dress before and knew just how to bustle and hem it. For the bargain-hunting, on-a-budget Austin gal used to finding all her clothes at vintage shops and Buffalo Exchange... this is the only place to shop for your wedding wear. read more

My appointment at Second Summer Bride was my first time trying on wedding dresses. The staff made it exciting, comfortable, and absolutely wonderful. I worked with Natalie and she was sweet, extremely helpful, and engaged in the process. She pulled a dress for me that ended up being my favorite that day. They have a wide variety of gowns and at great price points. The gowns are also in wonderful condition. They staff was wonderful and professional. I called a few times after the appointment and they continued to be helpful and warm. ********* update. I ended up returning to second summer to buy my (final) wedding dress. I bought a dress elsewhere, and decided I didn't quite feel like a bride. I requested another appointment with Natalie and again enjoyed and appreciated the experience. She listened to me and helped direct our appointment in a way that was productive/helpful but never pushy. One of my favorite parts of the experience was taking my dress to the tailor recommended (Olga Bridal Fashions- best!!) and she exclaimed that she'd never seen a dress like it -- in her 31 years in the business. I purchased my wedding dress from Second Summer Bride a month ago and am so happy with my experience. After trying on more than 20 wedding dresses, I had nearly given up hope. I decided to give Second Summer Bride a chance, and am so happy that I did. Second Summer Bride is modern but cozy. They have large store front windows that let in a lot of natural light. There is plenty of cushioned seating available for guests and a roomy but intimate fitting room. After trying on several beautiful and unique dresses, I found 'the dress'. It was a 'sample' dress in my size. It just needed hemming and a few inches taken in. It was very affordable and was in my budget. I had visited the store alone, so I wanted to send pictures to my mom and bridesmaids to get a second opinion. Audrey at Second Summer Bride wrote down the dress information for me and was very helpful in my decision making. She also took very detailed pictures for me to send to my mom. After visiting with friends and family about the dress, I called Audrey on a Saturday and asked if I could come by again to look at the dress one more time. Since Saturdays are their busiest, I was afraid there was no way they could squeeze me in. They were more than happy to have me drop by. When I arrived, Audrey even allowed me to try on the dress one more time to ease my mind, and told me to take as much time as I needed. I got on the phone with my mom and decided to purchase the dress. Even though I didn't have an appointment that day, Audrey took the time to put a veil and bling on me to give me the ultimate bridal experience. She then bagged my dress for me and gave me a list of preferred seamstresses for alterations. I did end up selecting one from her list and am very happy with my experience with that as well. I arrived shortly after they'd opened up hoping to browse around, I didn't have an appointment but figured it wouldn't be packed on a Tuesday at 11am. I had the best experience ever! Kristin, the manager was super helpful and made it a great experience all around! Nothing like the big bridal chains! They have a great selection without being overwhelmed.
