Collective Coffee Co gets 5 stars for sure. They have a large menu with something for everyone. Their breakfasts looked awesome, though I didn't order one. This place is a totally snobby, pour over only, we're going to take ten minutes to prepare your coffee experience. Totally worth it! The staff are all actually very nice and accommodating. I'm pregnant and was craving a decaf latte, so I stopped by before work. They didn't have decaf espresso, but seeing my disappointment, the barista said he could do a decaf pour over with steamed milk. I added almond syrup. Seriously satisfying. Even though it's pour over, they work fast, and it's not that crowded. The best place I've found to get a quality cup in Charleston. And they have organic coffee. read more

It would have been much different had they just..............( fill in the blank ). Ordered dark roast. We don't have dark roast. Why ? We don't want to taste like "other " places ( said with a tone of indignation ). Ok then give me med roast and I will order shot of espresso if not rich enough. I get a number ( a number..why ? ) set down fire up computer. Wait five minutes. Finally get coffee with espresso already added ( now it makes since why cost was $4.60) Kid didn't listen to what I said. Got different cup coffee- ask for help logging onto wifi. Spent the morning at Collective Coffee Co. Great WiFi. I had an almond milk chai tea latte plus an almond croissant. Both were perfect. For lunch I had the turkey sandwich on an everything croissant that was very special. It was complex, soft, easy to savor. I was sad once it was gone. I'll be back often. Wonderfully presented pour over coffees coupled with amazing food to include juicy omelets and massive wraps all made with fresh ingredients make this a great coffee shop. Hmmm. Not that great. Staff was very nice but the complaints of this place far outweigh the good. The use of ceramic and steel dishes was a nice touch. Noise level is ear-piercingly high. Should have ear protection to dine here. No use of local food, including the shrimp, which is ridiculous in Mount Pleasant. The tomato on my husband's BLT was white and hard, and this is mid-July!!! Inexcusable! And the "fruit cup" was taste-less and inedible. And the reason we give this one star: We witnessed the manager using his hands to wipe off the table. No cloth or disinfectant. Did not see him wash his hands before waiting on the next diners. Bus your own table. Tea is $3.75 per cup. C'mon now. read more

I use to really love this place when it was Collective but now that it is Second State I really don't any more. I wanted to. But we came toward closing and were rather rudely told they'd shut down the coffee machine and only had two options: Chai and Matcha. So we got one of each. The barista then asked if we wanted it for here or to go, we said for here and he again informed us they were closing soon. Why ask if we wanted it for here if you were going to be rude once more and act like allowing us to stay for five minutes would be too much of an inconvenience? Even though you were not closing that soon. So we got the drinks to go. They were both lackluster, barely drinkable honestly. I was excited they had cute plants now too which I saw on their insta if we liked them we could take them home so I inquired about the price of one. I was told the price and then asked if I could have one on the table near all the rest and was told that I couldn't because that one was for decoration and that I should just go to the plant store. Only come to find out you got a huge shipment of the small plants the very next morning. I'm not sure why you couldn't sell me one and just replace it in the morning? You still had plenty even without a shipment. But I guess you considered us more of a nuisance than a patron. We won't be any more. There are nicer coffee shops in Mt Pleasant, with friendlier staff. read more

Overall it's a cool place for coffee and a bit of brunch. I had the French toast w/berries, grilled falafel sandwich and a latte. Everything was good although the French toast only came with maybe 2 sliced strawberries and the falafel sandwich wasn't quite as described. It was described as grilled falafel with arugula on naan, however it came on a pita(very different to me) with butter leaf lettuce. I didn't mind the substitution on the butter leaf, but the pita bread was a miss for me. read more

Food was good, I had an omelette. Since it was late morning there was very few options for bread. I thought the coffee was a bit bitter, went up for a refill and was scolded by the barista for being at the wrong end of the counter. Seems to me a $3 cup of coffee should be refillable. Great place for a quick bite for breakfast and coffee. We were on vacation with our kids and were looking for a breakfast place. When we walked in we were given some strange looks since they do not accommodate parties of 3 or more people. There is only one large table in the front of the place, and no high chairs. I just had a cup of coffee, and although I am not a coffee afficionado, it was clearly very high quality, and very precisely brewed, by hand. The interior of the shop has a fairly barren feel and is not really designed to be comfortable for a couple hours of laptop use in the way Kudu (downtown) is, but it's much easier to find parking here. read more

I've been a regular ever since I happened upon this place. The staff are always warm and very friendly, and it's apparent they love working together. I walked in to the beautiful space of Collective Coffee Co on a Saturday morning at 9:30-ish. Not too crowded, a couple of families were leaving, my boyfriend and I grabbed a sun-kissed table beside the front doors. We promptly ordered 2 Counter Culture pour overs, an egg & cheese biscuit with a side of fruit, and a ham & cheese omelette with home fries. Both coffees were delicious, however the mugs were very awkward to drink out of due to the inconveniently thick lip around the cup. And they're enormous. Not the end of the world, no, but not the most comfortable morning joe. The food was delivered hastily: the biscuit to me, the omelette to my boyfriend. The egg & cheddar cheese in my biscuit sandwich were warm, but the biscuit itself was ... Cold. Like it had been popped out of a frozen container and cooked 3 hours before it was served to me. I thought it weird, but was rather ravenous, so I scarfed it down with my side of fruit. The cantaloupe had enough rind left on it to make me spit it out after chewing through the ripe meat. Again, not the worst thing ever! But maybe not worth the $23 + tip that we paid. Boyfriend says omelette was good, the home fries were maybe a bit too salty. We won't get the biscuit or the omelette again, but I would go back for coffee on my way out of Mt. Pleasant, and probably go for the avocado toast. read more

The to-go sizes are all a size smaller than they should be, and there is nothing about this place that justifies the ridiculous prices and snobbery! They made my daughters drink incorrectly and when she asked them to fix it they told her they are too busy, she can get some milk at the bar.
