So I'm on vacation and I stumble upon this place on Yelp. I love that coffee shops like this are finally popping up in suburbs all around America. No longer do I have to venture into the city to get coffee that isn't from some terrible chain that we all love to hate. There is plenty of parking here and once inside you are greeted with a very clean design, very minimalist, very something you would find in downtown Portland. This is the kind of place that sticks to their menu when it comes to espresso drinks, which used to irritate me until I realized it's all for a reason, and that is to maintain the integrity of coffee. That being said, they will compromise to make you happy though (I asked for espresso poured over ice). I also had a breakfast bagel that was pretty tasty and reasonably priced. This place manages to be quite unpretentious while still serving some great espresso. I will come back every time. read more

MY FAVORITE COFFEE SHOP, EVER. This place takes coffee seriously, so if you are a Dunkin Dounuts (SUGAR WITH A SIDE OF WEAK COFFEE) fan, you won't like the strong, complex deliciousness that is the slow-pour coffee at Collective. Collective is the home of my favorite cappuccino, hands down, ever, in the entire world. Their Dirty Chai is also excellent. My Hub is not a fan of caffeine, but thankfully Collective has him covered with a delicious (I've stolen sips) selection of teas, two of which are caffeine free. His favorite is the Berry-something-or-other. The breakfast offerings are fantastic. My number one recommendation are the Huevos Rancheros- which are potentially THE BEST Huevos Rancheros I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Their omelets are quite large & very tasty & make a great bagel sandwich. I've not had lunch but everything on the menu sounds rather tasty! read more

Convenient location for me (short walk from my office), so I go here tons since they opened. They are super friendly and down-to-earth, and pretty quick. I had THE BEST Everything bagel from there the other day. Their chicken salad is yummy too. The coffee is high quality, and I love that they make shapes in your coffee too (always a plus). My favorite coffee place is in my own kitchen, with home roasted beans, and an espresso lovingly pulled on a lever machine. I've got my favorite spot downtown, too, but Mt Pleasant, though it's had great barristas, has never given me the coffee goodness I've wanted, until now. Preparing the coffee are most of the fine crew from the old Hope and Union shop that closed this summer. Add to that some really tasty menu items food-wise, an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere, and a diverse drink menu for sipping beverages, and Collective Coffee has made the trip to Mt Pleasant worth the gas money. It's a stretch for me to give Collective Coffee four stars. The coffee was good, but I felt there was a lack of general overall "service" here. Not sure how to put my finger on it, but I felt like I was inconveniencing the staff by being there. Not the friendly vibe I want from a coffee shop. The coffee was pretty good, though. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt that I just caught them on a bad day or I had a bad impression, but not sure how quickly I'll be running back there either. read more

This was their first day open, and it happened to be my husband's birthday. We are happy to have Intelligentsia-brand coffee in Mount Pleasant. But the really great surprise was that they have absolutely delicious omelets (try the steak and mushroom), and wonderful, locally baked croissants (try the chocolate!). Went to this place 2nd day in a row because they are just that AMAZING!!! not only is their coffee the best in SC they have absolutely world class service!!! Today the place was absolutely packed with people enjoying their great food nd coffee. When my coffee was brought out it didnt look as amazing as yesterday and I just commented that there was no amazing design I assumed it was because of them having to walk it so far. The taste was still phenomenal! As he walked away I told my sister with me that I felt bad I didnt mean to offend him it was still great. Well the guy followed us out to our car as we were leaving to apologize that they were so busy he didnt have the time to design. I was stunned! He had absolutely nothing to apologize for. This place was a couple of blocks away from our AirBnB rental so we went 3 times over the course of 6 days due to proximity and sheer awesomeness. I pretty much stick to coffee or a latte at establishments such as this, and both didn't disappoint. I didn't try any flavored options I just went with a plain latte and coffee each time we visited. The thing that surprised me the most was the chorizo wrap, it really was perfection, and quite possibly the most versatile burrito I've ever hadl. What I mean by versatile is that it can be had for lunch and breakfast, the egg covers the breakfast front, and the chorizo and general heartiness of the burrito covers lunch. One thing to note is be sure to specify if you want a cold or hot tea. My wife ordered an English Breakfast tea and they served it cold. Not really even a complaint just something a little odd that we've never experienced before. I like a good cup of coffee and enjoy specialty coffee drinks. There are several food menu items that look good, but I didn't see a menu for specialty coffee drinks. Maybe I just need things spelled out a little more. I wound up ordering a mocha and it was not the tastiest thing I've ever had, though I was impressed with the froth and the method. This is no one's fault, but it seemed that unless you have a mac book, you might not fit in. This felt like walking into a South Park episode. It was eerily quiet, so much that we were the only two people talking. Everyone could hear every word and we could only hear ourselves, no music, no other conversation, just people staring at their macs. It isn't a warm and fuzzy coffee house. read more

I hate to be a party pooper, but, after several visits, I'm just not sold on Collective. The inside and outside spaces are nice. The service is very friendly, yet each time I go I'm surprised by the length of time it takes to get the most basic food. In addition, I have yet to order any food that I am thrilled to get again. Consistency seems to be a problem. Also, soggy sometimes. The bagels are ok, but not what I'd consider authentic NY bagels. The bagel/lox has had negligible cream cheese and onion, but plenty of lox. We stumbled upon this place and we are in love. They have pour over Counter-Culture Coffee, delicious and simple food options, and a clean and straight forward decor. The coffee I knew would be delicious. They should invest in a few new types of equipment just for fun, but what they've got is great. We got all three types of coffee in our party and I tried each - spectacular. The menu had ten items that I wanted to devour. I got the avocado on toast with evoo and salt and pepper. It was a large serving and generous amounts of avocado on each slice. All fresh and delicious. I will try to repeat at home. Other folks got the pimento cheese, egg, and sugar coated bacon biscuit. The balance of flavors from spicy to rich was perfect on the bit I had! I plan to go back tomorrow! read more

They had an amazing experience but the new management is faltering in my opinion. A strong menu was scrapped and the new offerings are sorta blah. I am not against change but when you take a pretty diverse and exciting menu and reduce the quantity and quality you can't keep me coming back. A small but serious example is the avocado toast. The coffee is good- I wish I could have had a better experience but the guy with the long blonde hair who took my order was beyond rude. He made me feel like I was interrupting his conversation with one of the other employees and when I said thank you he completely ignored me. Lacked basic human decency. Kindness really goes a long way nowadays and I would rather support small businesses in the area that genuinely care about their customers. I got a regular coffee and a chicken croissant and both were excellent. Their pour over coffee has several options and all their food looks delicious. They use intelligentsia coffee which has an independent coffee shop taste without the extreme bitter taste often found at smaller coffee shops. Been hunting for a hip coffee place and this fits my requirements to a T. The staff is awesome. The atmosphere is chill. The food is delicious, and can be adjusted for food allergies (if necessary). The serving sizes are a tad small for the prices, but this is a personal observation and isn't a detriment to the quality. The house coffee is not bad and not burnt so I'm sold. The music isn't blasted, though the AC is, so bring a sweater or jacket. Plus, my wife loves the chicken. And she liked the ceiling. read more

I go to Collective at least once almost every weekend. The food is unique and delicious and they have the best iced chai lattes I've ever had. Just don't visit when you're in a hurry. TWO STARS only because of pricing. Loved the atmosphere BUT I paid over $8 for a bagel and a half cup of coffee. There are NO refills and it costs $1.60 for another half a cup. Wasn't too happy about that. If you're meeting friends, it's a quaint little place and a change in environment from Starbucks. I've been going to this coffee shop as it's changed hands now for nearly 7 years. Today I walked in and not only was it packed full of people, but *none* of these people were wearing masks, including one of the baristas. This is unsafe and unacceptable and no matter how loyal I may have been to this business in the past they will no longer receive my money unless I can feel safe there. This is a great coffeeshop near I'On village near the Bi-Lo at Shelmore behind the CVS so it's easy to pop in for a quick pourover on your way into work. What is a pourover you ask? It's the latest trend in *really strong coffee* which means it's right up my alley. It was a bit rich for hubs who says he couldn't get enough cream or sugar in it to make it really drinkable for him. I second the chai comment, though I get a "dirty chai" which reminds me a ton of the one from Not Just Coffee in Charlotte. It's spicy and delicious. I forgot to ask if they do steamed almond milk instead. Their menu offered a number of cool options but being the HM girl I am I had to ask for a hybrid - Lox bagel with an egg instead of cream cheese. Delish! Beware though -their bagels don't come toasted on sandwiches so you'd have to ask for that. The homemade muffin was a blueberry oat cloud of crunchy but light deliciousness. If they're warm from the oven, we highly recommend. It's the best muffin I've had in a long time- such a smooth crumb in the middle. I usually steer free of gluten but it's hard to in this place! The interior is large and airy with the requisite reclaimed hardwood on the walls and white subway tile with dark grout. I considered to deduct a star for the rolled cuff hipsters and creeper in the corner with two monitors up and headphones who hubs contends looks at porn. But the menu and coffee deserved 5 stars. They also have fresh Orange Juice but I can't speak to the quality. If you want more "creative" juices, head a block into I'On to Grind and Squeeze for one of their light and healthy juice or smoothies. read more

What do you think of when you think of a coffee shop? Well, scratch that. I found this Mt. Pleasant coffeehouse to be just the opposite of what I imagined. The crowd was more diverse than your average hipster patron, and it was very sunny and cheerful. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about sunshine and happy, peppy people. However, a dimly lit spot is part of the coffeehouse appeal, no? Coffee with Betty White isn't on my bucket list either. Perhaps hers, but not mine. They do offer pour-over options, but I was less than impressed. Nothing horrible, but also nothing that stood out as stellar. My egg and cheese bagel sandwich was cold and the bagel was still doughy in the middle. Topping it all off was the fact that the wi-fi kept going in and out. It didn't take too long for me to decide that this just wasn't the place for me. Could they have been having an off day? Of course. Was it so horrible that I'd never go back? No. Would it be my first choice? Absolutely not. Two stars would be harsh. For now I'll give them 3 and wish them well as they find there place in the increasingly competitive coffee world. read more

They always have delicious Omelettes here, and both the coffee and tea is excellent. High ceilings make you feel nearly like you're outside, which is great if you don't want to sit outdoors on a hot day. It's also a great spot if you just want to hang out and get some work done. I have been to Collective Coffee Co. 6-8 times since they opened. I make a point to stop here at least twice each time I visit Charleston. The coffee is great. Stay awhile and enjoy one of the drip coffee options or order one of their classic espresso drinks. You won't be disappointed. Today, I stopped in for a latte and it was perfect. We ate here twice this weekend and I can't say I was impressed. The first time there was a long line worth only 1 register, they needed help. I ordered a pumpernickel bagel toasted with veggie cream cheese. I asked at leat 3x for the bagel to be toasted. It wasn't toasted and the veggie cream cheese was average. It didn't really have any taste. The second time I ordered a plain bagel toasted with egg and bacon. Again, it wasn't toasted. My husband ordered a bagel with cream cheese and lox both times and enjoyed it. His wasn't toasted either time. It has a cute atmosphere but I wouldn't return. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped here before going to the beach. We both got cold brews and they were amazing. The cold brew was strong and rich which we both loved. They also put the cold brew in the cup before adding ice so it wasn't watered down/ there was plenty of cold brew. The ambiance inside was alright, but overall great experience. read more
