I personally loved the PVRNI, a Czech pilsner. It tastes rich, malty, and bready, balanced by a soft, rounded bitterness with floral, spicy hop notes. We also had the nacho chips with jalapeño and cheese. They've improved the space too by adding banquet seating, and there are even more beer choices now. I can't wait to go back -- next time I'm bringing tacos to pair with their beer!

The beer, it's just bad (as of mid-April). We've tried a lot of beer from home brew to mass produced to craft beer. It seems like there might be some issues with the lines or soap somewhere it shouldn't be ... something is off. The beers we had were all really not good. I say this with knowing about off flavors, not "oh I just don't like that style." There is so much potential for this spot, especially as summer approaches and they can open up the outdoor space. There are food trucks that pull up for food options. Please stop by and try things for yourself; I hope things turn around and this place thrives in the Evanston community. P.S. Please consider canning / offering growler fills for Gatecrasher for friends that are unable to visit. :)

They have a lot of very desirable bourbon bottles here. Their thoughtfully curated menu may be compact, but it offers a great variety--from fresh salads and wood-fired pizzas to steaks, seafood, and chicken dishes--so there's truly something for everyone. The drink menu is just as fun, with creative cocktails named after iconic songs and music titles, adding a unique touch to the experience. We started with oysters (special), pear arugula salad then ordered main course- I walleye (special) and shrimp risotto. Everything was excellent. It's worth mentioning that the portions are generous enough to leave you satisfied without being overwhelming, making it easy to enjoy an appetizer, entrée, or dessert without feeling overstuffed.

It's very peaceful, romantic and a calm atmosphere. All of the food was delicious. The plating is so attractive! The dishes have great flavor but are healthier options. The portion sizes were perfect for what we desired. I'm not exaggerating when I say this was the best branzino I've ever had. The skin was crunchy and delicious. But the fish was not dry at all! There's nothing better than a juicy branzino fish and chef Jose nailed it! Matching with the sauce and beans was so much better than any other veggies or starch. The octopus was also cooked to perfection. The flavor and temperature was just right. Not too hot and such a great texture. We don't always order desserts but we had to see every course of the menu. We decided to go with a lava cake and it did not disappoint. It had that perfect contrast of hot and cold but it's served with gelato which gives it a nice touch of texture compared to standard ice cream. Chef Jose came out and introduced himself. We came in because we were enticed by a beef tartare that was on their menu in the past. We're hoping he brings it back on a special sometime soon. He said to give him a call and he'll try to accommodate whenever possible to make his customers happy. What an amazing restaurant. We cannot wait to come back and see what's new. Thank you for an amazing dinner and night!

However, Maplewood Brewery and Distillery has even more to offer than just some of the best beer in the city: incredible liquors and cocktails; fantastic food. We've been visiting Maplewood for almost a decade for amazing beer and, more recently, to sample the spirits. But tonight was the first time we tried the food. And WOW! The Wednesday night Burger, Beer, and Bourbon for $22 is a delectable steal. I loved every bite of the savory/filling food and every sip of each beverage! The building is spacious. Don't be deceived by the crowds out front on the patio, there is often plentiful seating inside in one of the two rooms, or at the bar. It is always clean, open, and welcoming. The staff are friendly and helpful. They also have QR codes at the tables in case you want contactless ordering. Parking can be a challenge given the permitted street. If in doubt, ask the bartenders. They are always helpful when confirming if you parked in an open spot, or if you should move. We love Maplewood and are so glad we finally tried the food. We'll definitely be back again soon!

I was not happy as I drove 30min to get something nice from here instead of Binnys. These guys have an impressive Tequila selection online and I wanted to see what they had in person. Ok, so 2nd visit. I was working down the street and it was early afternoon. I figure they have to be open. They were! First impressions were great as they guy working was super nice and gave me store hours etc, lol (10am-10pm). They have a VERY GOOD TEQUILA Selection!! I bought 3 bottles that I wanted to try. Here's the only odd part about this store. They literally have a wall of bottles I swear 15ft high?! You cannot even see what is up there. They have to get a lift and go up if you want something. But how do you know what is even there? The website doesn't show you stock of the specific stores so you can't tell that way either. Anyway, at least we have another great option for Tequila in the NW suburbs. They also told me they will be opening a Chicago location soon...
