I've been a customer at Seattle Sun Tan for a few years now, and Ryley at the front desk is always my favorite person to see when I come in! When I first started tanning, I was honestly really nervous and didn't know what to expect. Ryley took the time to walk me through everything, answer my questions, and made me feel excited instead of anxious when I was getting ready for my first vacation. She's always so friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable, and you can tell she genuinely cares about the clients. They have a 3/$49 deal for first time users. I'm a pale irish catholic girl. This was my second spray tan ever after a pretty bad initial one. I had a great experience at Seattle Sun Tan! The girl helping me had great recommendations. I couldn't believe how fast and private it was! For first timers: I definitely recommend pulling the cap far back on your head, I definitely messed mine up. Also, make sure to follow the poses carefully before entering. read more

I just started tanning again after SEVERAL years and signed at the lake stevens location up for what I thought was $9.99 for a month of unlimited tanning. Well, I guess I must be stupid for thinking that was legit. I went in person and got tangled up in their sales pitch of confusing "sessions this and sessions that" and signed up to do the "better beds" as they suggested. The first bed I went into (Bronzing bed) I noticed a bunch of buttons basically missing (rubbed off from being used so much) and some of the buttons didn't work. Since the bed and the fan worked, I blew it off and went a few more times. The 4th time I decided to try the "building bed". Again, half the buttons were missing AND the fan didn't work! I was so hot in the bed I had sweat dripping down my forehead. No one warned me the fan didn't work. In addition to that just beware because EVERYTIME you go in for a tan, someone will be waiting for you with a sales pitch to upgrade or buy their products (like thier WAY overly priced lotion which you can get on Amazon) which I find SUPER annoying to say the least! They already gouge you for the prices you pay for the monthly fee and "sessions" for their crappy beds. Needless to say, I am going to try another location to see if they have better beds and don't harass you when you come in. If not, I am cancelling my membership without hesitation after I run out of "sessions". I would suggest voiding this location unless you want worn out beds and pushy sales pitches. read more

As a fair-skinned lass, I'm a huge fan of this place and their spray tans. I love that I don't have to damage my skin but can look bronzed all summer long! Their tans always look natural without any sort of orange tint. I've been to 2 of their locations and both have friendly staff and are always clean. Great experience here so far. I will say some of the beds do look a little older. Perhaps it just depends on the level bed you are using. Pricing here is pretty similar to any other tanning salon. Every room I've been in is super clean. The staff here are friendly and professional. With COVID protocol, they were at capacity one day and instead of telling me to come back, the person at the front desk took down my name and number and personally called me when the beds were ready. That was awesome! I never feel any pressure to buy product or added services like I have at other places. So far, so good! read more

I know tanning is bad for you. But with an upcoming trip to Maui I wanted Hubby & I to get base tans so we don't get burned day 1 & spend the rest of the vacation indoors. Got a screaming deal for a month of unlimited tanning off Groupon. Of course every time you go in they try to "upsell" you beds. I don't mind. I know that's how they make money & if I didn't get results from the Level 1 & 2 beds I might consider it. As it is I pick up color like nobodies business so L1 & L2 work for me. They also try to sell you lotions but like ALL tanning salons their prices are very high & you can go to Ulta or a beauty supply store & get some for a fraction of the price. Friendly attractive front desk staff. I imagine it is a highly sought after job for local High School or UW students. Plenty of beds so you can always walk in & get a tan. I've been coming here for 2 years and had no issues with anyone until last Thursday evening 02/17/22. After having their employee Payton Widup treat me so rudely and even told me she wasn't supposed to be working that day, she asked me to leave "her" store because she told me she was a manager. After leaving, I decided to go cancel my membership because of how poorly I was treated. When I go to cancel, she threatened to call the police on me. When I got home that night I was so confused to see that the same girl used company database and the information I have given Seattle Sun Tan to stalk me and send me a friend request on social media. This employee appeared to be on a type of drug or the verge of a breakdown. Seattle Sun will not answer any of my calls, and I am feeling threatened and confused by this. read more

I went and got a spray tan this evening and It was a really nice experience. I rarely ever tan or spray tan but I'm getting some pictures taken for my wedding anniversary and quarantine has left me more pale then Casper. So I get uncomfortable going into tanning salons, I always feel like my questions come off as stupid and I've always been over pushed to buy things or I'm basically just ignored. Not tonight! Apparently I had a spray tan already on my account (it's been 6 years since I've been) but the woman working the counter talked to me about some promotions and I happily added a few more to my account, she talked through the level differences and bronze verses clear, potential add ons to my spray tan without pressure, which I might try next time, made sure I was comfortable with the poses and showed me again (even though she could have left me to look at the machine) and was extremely nice. I love getting a spray tan, the atmosphere seriously just gives me anxiety, but now I'm totally going to go significantly more often then once every few years. Beware! This place will scam you, rip you off without your knowledge and refuse to reimburse their overcharges. I wanted just a couple short sessions before a trip to Mexico. I used exactly 4, 10-minute sessions. They charged me $152 the first visit that included some sort of "special" tan enhancer which made me look more orange than tan. I did not hear the words "membership" or "monthly charges" but have just discovered I've been charged monthly a membership rate of $35.97/month for the past 5 months! The local studio sent me to a customer service rep that simply cancelled charges going forward, but would give me no refund for past months. She said I signed a document. Again, thought I was just signing a transaction for my purchase. I wish I'd read up about them beforehand ....there are many similar warnings from other customers. Disgusting. read more

RUDEST guy at front. Second time in a row. First time he told me he needed to inspect my lotion so that it wouldn't crack the tanning bed. Then when I told him I wanted the unlimited package he said it was for maintenance and I didn't look tan enough for maintenance. I just got back from two months in Hawaii. He further told me that I had to purchase with that package and he couldn't guarantee I had proper eye protection with the tanning goggles I had brought. This evening I asked if I could charge my phone during my seven minute tan and he said no, he was trying to find someone to close for him. It's unfortunate to see poor ratings for a place where I've only had great experiences. The staff is always so pleasant. They go the extra mile to get you an appt at a suitable time, even checking different locations to accommodate. Raymond is very good with airbrush, super friendly, professional, and skilled. I'm a current member at SST. What everybody deserves to know is that to be a member here, you have to pay nearly 30 bucks a month pre-tax, THEN you pay on top of that with each time you come in to tan. The additional cost varies depending on what package you want to buy. But let's for the sake of an argument say that you will go twice a week, or 8 times a month. At a minimum (depending on the level bed that you choose and the package you choose) you'll be spending about 40 bucks *in addition* to your base cost. That's 70 dollars right there. Then there's the tanning lotion which is astronomically high. 90 bucks for a bottle that is marked up more than 100%!! Luckily I had "bucks" for freezing my membership due to seasonality and I was able to apply those to my lotion. I've been coming here for a couple of years, freezing my account intermittently. It wasn't until this year that I started to be cost-conscious and realized how much money this company is collecting from its customers. Enough to acquire another company (Desert Sun) and then another one (RockStar Tanning). With all of that... I do have to give a TON of credit to the staff members here. They're very friendly... hopefully that's because they're getting some of the extra dollars that are being raked from us customers. read more

I went to Seattle Sun Tan several times in preparation for a mid-winter trip. My Seattle-shaded booty needs a little color before I head off to the real beach. I've been to several different tanning salons in Seattle and other places and never been to such a beautiful tanning salon. The beds are very nice and clean. It definitely has a classy feel to it - for a tanning salon. I have one main concern with this place. They try to sell you up and it gets really uncomfortable. I just didn't feel like I was treated with a ton of respect. Also the prices are exorbitant. I tanned at Desert Sun for the last 3 years and recently made the switch because they offer a week free of tanning when you first visit...they have the same beds as Desert Sun, just a different pricing structure. I love all their beds, that you never have to wait or make an appt. I have been using their "VersaSpa" ; I VOWED never to use a machine that sprays tan on me after a mystic nightmare back in 00' when they first came out.. But this machine is my new best friend!! It sprays evenly, has not even a tad tint of orange, has 3 different levels of darkness and even dries you off!!!!! (I am a whitey brunette and I use the darkest level - Level 3) I have a membership there which allows me to get about 7 tans for $50...(for airbrush/spray tanning that is really good) I used to only do airbrushing where someone sprayed in on themselves for you; that runs a hefty $30 a pop. I was there today and wish I knew the girls name who helped me, she is still a sales woman but does it in a very "non-threatening" way so I don't have to feel bad for saying no! If you ever don't have money on you; they "charge" your account which is nice too! PS: The free bottled water is underrated; you barely can use a restroom for free nowadays! I LOVE IT! read more

BEWARE of their membership deal because in order to cancel that you have to make an appearance in the store AND make it in about 2 weeks before it charges your card again so that "corporate has time to process it". At this point I wasn't really upset with their bushiness, they seemed like a company that would make you do a run-around like that so I came in, signed the cancellation paper AND even paid for an additional month that I wash't going to use. Fast forward 5 months. I notice the membership wasn't cancelled so I called them and after about a week of back and forth, I got corporates phone number. Come to find out "Corporate" is just ONE girl name Jesse. So your big bad corporate needs 2 weeks to cancel my membership, I would still love an explanation as to why it takes someone 2 weeks to cancel a credit card payment? But moving on. Because I didn't have a copy of my cancellation paperwork (from 5 months ago) they weren't going to refund my money. She was even the one that noted that I hand't used any of their salons for about 5-6 months and had a credit. So then why is it so difficult to refund somebody their money for services they clearly didn't use? I get your in the business of making money but you should also CARE ABOUT YOUR CUSTOMERS because this is one that will NEVER be back to Seattle Sun Tan. Sure, if I had a membership knowingly, I would use it but your staff seems incompetent enough to process paperwork and I feel like i'm not the only person you guys have scammed into paying not just 1 additional month but MULTIPLE. I know I am partly to blame because I didn't double check their work and check my account at the end of the month but I have multiple EFT accounts and its very easy to miss a $25 charge. If you're like me you go tanning once a month so you don't blind whoever you're banging but also don't want to get cancer. The number 5 is the only one that is worth your money; it gives a totally even tan and doesn't burn you like the others. Brought my coupon in and the assistant manager at Alderwood said, "its $20 off $40 not a $20 credit." The coupon said absolutely nothing about $20 off $40. What it said was "$20 credit towards your next product or service". So I'm trying to figure out how it became $20 off $40 when both I and the assistant manager know that she is a bold face liar. Ok, where to even begin? Let's start off with the positive. The salon is typically clean. The beds are decent. The prices are expensive in my opinion for anything other than a basic bed but this is Seattle and that's not anything new or anything you can get around. However my experience today with an employee there just clearly shows the absolute lack of customer service or appreciation for us (the customers) who patron the place. I came in today because I was told since I had spent 180 dollars on tanning lotion that I would receive 6 free tans as a promotion that they were running. However, when I mentioned this to the female employee she simply stated "no you dont you have 2" Understandably I became upset because I hadn't used my tans so I wanted to know where they went. I proceeded to explain how that shouldn't be the case but was met with, and I quote, " what do you want me to do about it, I didnt do it so you need to talk to who did". I have been a customer service manager for 10 years and this behavior is down right appalling. If you are employed with a company then YOU are the face of that company and a representative as such. Customer service doesn't mean "kissing ass" but it means having empathy to your customers and taking accountability and trying to make it right. Sometimes an employee may not have the permissions or authorization to do or promise anything but you certainly dont throw your hands up and say "it's not my problem". I seriously couldn't imagine the manager agreeing with this employees atrocious behavior... Additionally, after I told her (and even a customer) that she wasn't providing even adequate customer service and it would be better for her to acknowledge that a customer was upset and LISTEN as to why instead of dismissing the issue, she then told me she has the right to refuse service and "I won't be tanning today so bye". I was bewildered at the fact she really needed to act like that and I still pressed her for an explanation as to why. I stood there for a few minutes and when she finally answered she told me, "because you attacked me, I did nothing to you". Are you serious? What a joke! Why on earth is this employee making it about her? I went into the establishment wanting to tan. It's not like I personally went after her or scaled the counter to assault her.. As the employee on duty I am going to look to you for a resolution..As I already stated - when you are an employee at a company YOU are a representative of said company. This has nothing to do with her as a person (aside from her inability to provide customer service). I have every right to question WHY I only have 2 tans when I was supposed to have 6. She told me I could "speak to the manager if I wanted to" and wrote down a number. She obviously wasn't expecting me to call because I called it right in front of her and I told her that wasn't the managers number. She then proceeded to tell me "well it's his day off and he doesn't need to speak to you" - once again..are you kidding me? I told her that managers aren't exempt from that because the store is their responsibility. She then told me, "well I'm making that decision and you aren't speaking to him". I know if that was MY employee I would be furious (but hey that's just me) Finally (after asking if she would please let me speak and just LISTEN) she huffed and said "fine what", I then (as calmly as I could, reiterated WHY I was upset. She then looked at me and said" oh is that why you were mad? Ok that's my bad for not understanding, but there is nothing I can do and you have to talk to the manager" Wtf... well if you would have taken the time to listen the first time instead of blow people off.. maybe this whole thing could have been avoided. I just started getting spray tanned here with their VersaSpa machine. It works great! It takes about 10 minutes and I get a great tan. I am pasty white, so I use the Level 1 solution and love it. The only downside is that it fades with chlorine. I went hot tubbing 2 days after I got sprayed and my tan was pretty much gone afterwards. Bummer. read more

As a loyal customer to Desert Sun Tan I must admit... I cheated and went to Seattle Sun Tan. And thank goodness I did!! I had a great first experience here signing up as a new customer. Mora was very helpful in explaining their membership pricing, showing me all the beds and giving me lotion recommendations. I was weary of this place as some of the past reviews are not so great but I experienced nothing but friendly and professional service. Pros: +set prices, no haggling +free bottled water +many levels of beds to choose from(1-5) +roomy lobby, nice leather couches +free first tan +clean +rooms have iPod stations Cons: -small parking lot(minor detail) I never felt pressured to buy more. In fact, since my main purpose is to build a base tan for an upcoming vacation and not so much to be tan year round Mora figured out which pricing(member vs. guest) would be better for my needs. Like a MLM scheme - but with even MORE tricks and gimmicks - these scamsters are set up solely to relieve you of your money through a bevy of gimmicks, covered by cryptic disclaimers, and safely stashed behind a "paperless" contract - the terms of which you agree to by means of a similarly paperless, digital signature (no receipt outlining terms & conditions - written or otherwise - is issued to the customer). Once you're plugged into their 'system', it's like a stop at 'Hotel California' (u can check out any time u like, but you can never leave). They fall back upon their invisible disclaimers (and your digital finger-signature) to continue charging for services NOT rendered. In my case, I originally visited the salon to make use of what appeared to be a reasonable tanning package that included a '2-week upgrade'. On a subsequent visit a couple short days later - AFTER they had swiped my credit card - the attendant promptly refused me use of the promised 'upgrade'(!). A subsequent meandering exchange (in hopes of a refund) with an absolutely useless functionary at "corporate" ('Jessi') lapsed into an exasperating tumble down a rabbit hole of rank ineptitude. I went to their website last night and it said their hours were 8am to 8pm. I even wrote it down. I just walked down there (from wallingford) to find a note posted on the door saying that their summer hours are noon to 8pm. Walked home and checked their website and it says the same thing. Worst Sun tanning experience ever! Got a try out coupon with them, it was my 1st time tanning. All they did was making sure that they sell me the eye covers. Without any explanation or where the room, she gave me a key with a room number and said " Room 12, you have 20 min". I even told her that it's my 1st time. Not knowing how to operate the machine, what to watch out for, they just left me wonder off by myself, I had to rush to that room 12 that I didn't even know where it was, and start trying to figure everything out at the spot!! I could have burnt myself because of lack of instruction! A friend who went with me had similar experience, and she was so pissed out that she's considering suing that place. This place makes you feel luxurious. Great location in U-Village. The tanning salon is clean and presentable, and smells great too! The staff is friendly enough, some more than others. They have plenty of beds so there is never any wait time. They offer free bottles of water that you can just grab from the stocked fridge in the lobby. The girl who helped us was very bubbly and sweet, gave us the full tour and did her best explaining the different level of beds and gave suggestions on how we should begin our tanning process. We did however get suckered into buying the tanning lotion (with quadruple bronzers, blah blah etc) which was a whopping $50, and that was with the 30% discount that was included in our package. I'm pretty sure Jergens or any other hydrating lotion you already own would still do the trick. Anyhow, still a great experience, me and my girlfriend split the $200 package which came with an extra $20 each and puts us in the bracket with the best deals on all the beds. Great thing to do with a friend. We both enjoy coming here in the morning after work for a little dose of artificial sunshine. read more

Excellent experience during my first visit to this salon! The staff was very friendly and explained the pricing options along with equipment differences in great detail. While they did emphasize the benefits of signing up for a monthly membership, they didn't try to upsell and were perfectly fine with my choice of a fixed dollar package. They also had a good selection of tanning lotions and eyewear. The tanning rooms and beds were all clean, and again the staff explained the equipment functionality and general tanning process details. Towels and bottled water were provided, too. They don't make appointments. There's about 28 different tanning beds which apparently is enough to cater for walk-ins at any time. Generally you shouldn't need to wait more than 15 minutes if they happened to be packed. Weekends seem to have less customer traffic than weekdays. read more

This is the best tanning place in Seattle. Hands down. With 26 rooms, they have 5 levels of tanning beds, including the Level 5 Velocity high pressure bed. What this means is that I never burn (which is hard to do for a redhead) and is higher in UVA rays than regular tanning beds. The beds have built in satellite radio, adjustable fans and also the ability to turn off the lights to the face and shoulders, so that if you are like me and always burn on your chest and don't want to age prematurely, you don't have to cover up... They also have Mystic Tanning which goes on very evenly and not splotchy. The service is also always friendly and the wait is minimal. The beds are very clean as is the entire location. Ask for a tour and they are always happy to oblige. There is also free bottled water since it is important to stay hydrated when tanning. They have locations in Redmond Town Center, Downtown Bellevue (with their own parking) and they just opened one up in Bothell / Mill Creek. read more

I walked in one evening (first time) to start my tanning before my wedding day next June. It started getting busy as the girl was going over what package would be best for me. Most people would rush in this type of situation, but the girl working (by herself) handled it very well. She politely asked if i could wait a minute to check the people already customers so she can get back with me at no rush. But this place is absolutely horrible, do not waste your time going here unless you enjoyed being treated like a dollar sign as opposed to an actual human being. I am disgusted. I came here for the first time tanning, I get seasonal depression during winter and was hoping a quick tan would help. I brought my own lotion, and was told it wasn't good enough, okay fair enough. So I tried the sample lotion. I did feel like the people behind the counter were not empathic at all, they acted like sharks and it made me so uncomfortable! i get it is a place of business but show some personality, some empathy for your customers. I felt like I was in a car dealership! No chill vibes whatsoever, I am appalled at this place still and it's been a week! They tried to swindle me into their membership and tanning lotions FYI the tanning lotion is $90 and NON REFUNDABLE which they don't say out loud, it's written on the receipt ironically after you complete you transaction it prints out so you can see. This place is absolute garbage because that's how they treat their customers. If you are in tune in any way it's easy to see they truly don't couldn't care less about their guests, which is really sad to see coming from a salon. I work in a salon myself and I treat every guest with respect and compassion no matter who they are. It is not hard to be a good person. You do have to try, though. If I could give 0 stars I would.
