This was a great experience! I highly recommend it! I've never been on a seaplane before, nor a small airplane. I found this company on Yelp, gave them a call and Yvette was able to fit me right in! When I arrived at the business, Yvette told me all about the route that I would be taking. I of course forgot everything because I was too busy taking videos and pictures! Haha. The experience was just amazing and my pilot Micah did a fantastic job! So cool to see everything from up above and the day was just spectacular...so sunny and clear and the water was sparkling blue! So you walk down a small dock to the plane, climb in and taxi out just like you would at the airport, but it's on water. Once the pilot reaches the proper speed, you lift off and away you go. Very smooth and I felt completely safe. The tour lasts about 20 minutes and then you come in for your final approach. Trying not to clip kayakers and paddle boarders who are in the way, you land right on the water. Very cool! I definitely will do it again next time I'm in Seattle! read more

I love seaplane tours, so on a recent trip to Seattle on a beautiful, clear sunny day, I decided to try out Seattle Seaplanes. I'd seen a lot of views of the city, from the wheel, the top of the space needle, rooftop bars, private rooftops, etc. But the seaplane tour gave me an entirely new perspective of the city! The pilot was friendly and professional, the views were stunning, and it is a tour I would recommend to anyone! One interesting factor to note -- most seaplane our helicopter tours I've done are narrated. This tour is not, although the pilot did point out Bill Gates' home, which was appreciated. I'm not saying this as necessarily a negative or a positive, just an interesting fact. If you're Seattle and the weather is good -- take to the sky with Seattle Seaplanes! Called the company to report the rude behavior of the pilot, they didn't bother to call back. Took my son on a flight it was wonderful I encouraged anyone to go enjoy! Noticed the pilot wouldn't respond to conversation kind of went through the motions, that's fine just fly the plane. When we went to exit he guided my son who was in co-pilot seat to get out after he docked the plane. Several minutes went by and I started to stand up and that's when this pilot screamed in a very very scary mean attitude for me to sit down? Whoa? Where did that come from? To the pilot you obviously don't like people, go fly a cargo plane! When your flying the public who is paying your salary, it isn't just fly the plane, obviously you haven't challenged yourself to be great at all aspects of your job! To act in such a strange way I couldn't help but wonder what was behind your action, That's a lie! Flown around the world been in many seats, no one ever screams like that! My issue is why you screamed? What is going on in your mental state? Only lifted my rear off the seat an inch! Damage a plane built in 1970's or 1980's, mechanical engineer for 30 years, not possible, just get better at your job Brandon you ruined our flight, hope it made you feel better to melt down on your customers and then lie in your reply. read more

A great experience there given how they dealt with two things which were a bit out of their control -- certain taxi cab folks not knowing where this place is (getting confused with the competition location, despite the address), and others in the scheduled tour being really late. They dealt with the later by giving us a semi-private ride, which was great. That said, the views from all seats seem equally good. We also lucked out with excellent weather conditions for the flight -- smooth and not too much sun. read more

This was such a cool experience. I am hoping to purchase some more flights as gifts. They are worth it. I got lucky and spur of the moment decided to go since it was a cool clear day about a year ago. To fly over our landscape is a luxury and for 99 a person that's not too bad. After driving by all the time I figured what the heck! They bring you to the dock, you board and I would personally recommend earplugs as the lil' Cesna's are quite loud. The landing was good and the take-off was exciting. We flew over Bill Gate's, and the 520 bridge, UW, Lake Washington and it was perfection! Micah was an awesome personality, amazingly incredible at his flying craft and cute as the Dickens. Super friendly staff. Our pilot, Kitt, was informative and accommodating. This was important as we were dealing with weather issues and it was unclear when and where we could fly. Kitt spoke with us multiple times to make sure we knew our options. All worked out in the end and the 20 minute scenic flight was amazing. The only issue was with parking. All of the nearby spots were either blocked or taken by other local businesses, so we were forced further north on Fairview until we found a pay lot at E. Blaine. It was about a 5 minute walk so plan accordingly. read more

Took the 20 minute flight with Kit for our group of three. As a SEL pilot, she pointed out a few differences between the land and sea aircraft. Even with the ear plugs, we had no problem communicating. The Cessna 210 was an old bird with dated interior but a strong workhorse overall. One of the best experiences I have had in the Pacific Northwest hands down. We were greeted by the incredible and super knowledgeable Kareen, who showed us the route we would be taking. Afterwards, we were led to the dock by the best pilot ever, KIT! Admittedly our party of 3 was a little apprehensive at first, but once the sun was shining and glistening off Lake Union, we were ready to roll. Once we were in the sky, it was pure bliss. I had literally forgotten how beautiful the city of Seattle is. If you want to fall in love with the city all over again, then this is the flight for you. It definitely had that adventure feel, and I would recommend it to anyone, and especially appreciated our amazing pilot who was so professional and knew exactly how to treat us. I recently had visitors from the East Coast doing a UW tour for an incoming freshman and they booked a reservation with Seattle Seaplanes. They were thrilled with the experience and the professional service of the owner and his pilots. I can vouch for the outstanding response to their customer's enjoyment - I was unable to climb into the seaplane due to knee surgery, so my friends went on with out me. But Jim and his wonderful pilot, Yvette, was not going to let it go there. They offered me a smaller shorter plane to take me on my own personal air tour! To say this was above and beyond would be putting it mildly. They could have easily said, "Sorry" and let me just wait for my friends to return. Their kindness and attentiveness is so rare today. And I love this city dearly, so it's very nice to still run into things that make it more desirable, beautiful and almost sexy...especially if you're drifting *on top* of it! What a great, intense (and unfortunately short) experience. If mom and dad or grandparents ask you what do you want for Christmas, suggest them to give you a gift certificate to fly the beautiful skies of the Emerald City. Or you can give one away and you'll be loved by the lucky one who gets it. It's a wonderful gift. My BF's parents surprised me with one, to celebrate my graduation from grad school. "You and one guest will fly with us" has been one of the nicest, most thoughtful presents I have ever gotten. The customer service is wonderful, kind and it almost feels like "old fashioned" but in a great way. Their shop is quirky and inviting. You feel so welcomed! They answer any questions you might have, nicely calm you if you're a bit afraid of planes and tell you stories of how people proposed on the planes or surprised a loved one with a ride. We only had a small inconvenient and it was that they had to reschedule our flight because of some last-minute schedule conflict. Nothing that we would complaint about, but it was because our afternoon was open. We couldn't pick a better day! Remember that last summer Sunday two weeks ago? It was clear, sans haziness and the gorgeous, golden Washington light was bathing the city and the mountains. We enjoyed views were lots of activity on all lakes and the waterfront was taking place. I particularly remember the sight of my beloved ferries ready to leave Seattle and the traffic, for once, was looking good. And we got to see Mount Rainier and Mount Baker (AND even Mount Constitution) like you'll never see them while on the ground. Spectacular! It was very exciting to fly over the stadiums, very close to the downtown buildings, over the Locks and later, over our place. It's amazing how looking at a place from a different perspective can give you so much more about and of it! Now we have much more to say about the city we live at and love. I got to tell you, if your taking photos you'll maybe end up feeling a little sick. And DON'T (go back to the last word in capital letters AND repeat 100 times) eat right before the flight. You'll turn into a human blender unless you have extraordinary mental control over your body. read more

BEST COOLEST surprise I have arranged for my bf so far! And I seriously thought I couldn't surprise him! :-D We arrived here shortly after being picked up by a rolls royce (I had to go all the way or else we would have just stayed at home!). At first it was kind of confusing where to go but then my eyes found the little gate along the side of the building where there was a little office. They were expecting us (while my bf didn't know what to expect) and it was a little awkward since he was still kind of in shock about the whole thing. Hahaha, that eventually went away and he ended up having a blast. We walked out to the seaplane, which was a little hard to do in heels, my heels kept finding the cracks between the boards, but with a little more tippy toe walking it went away. Yes... We actually went on a seaplane in super nice attire for our fancy dinner after. BUT I planned it so we had dinner after instead of before, just in case. I ended up sitting in the co-pilot seat with the headphones, it made it easier to hear our pilot talk about the surrounding area. My bf sat in the back seat video-ing the entire 20 minute trip. We saw a lot of pretty cool stuff! Seattle Seaplanes is the ultimate Seattle tour! Our take off and landing were a lot smoother than I thought they would be and it was also a lot less scary than I thought it would be. We barely hit turbulence, it lasted for maybe 5 seconds but it wasn't bad at all. We talked to the pilot for a while, thanked him and continued on our journey to dinner. We both had an amazing unforgettable ride! P.S. At first I was having trouble getting through to the phone line and I also left an e-mail. They let me know what times they were available and I was able to call and schedule the flight as well as prepay for it! Yay for being able to budget my trip! I surprised my husband with a seaplane ride on his birthday. We were piloted by the company's owner, who gave us a very good overview of the plane, but also of the flight path we would be taking. He flew us up out of Lake Union and over Lake Washington. He pointed out a few houses of Seattle uppity ups, including Bill Gates house, before heading just south of Downtown, over the stadiums. After we had cleaned downtown, and were over Elliot bay, he let my husband take over the controls of the plane, from the co-pilots seat. He also let us fly up north, to fly over our house. The "scenic Seattle air tour" is supposed to be only 20 minutes long, but we were up in the air for a good 35 minutes. All in all, it was a very nice, pleasant experience for us. The price is $67.50 per person, and there is a coupon in the entertainment book for buy one, get one free... but you can only use that if you book onto an already existing flight, and I would highly recommend against that, because it was nice with me and my husband being the only ones on the plane, with the pilot. read more

Very personable, engaging staff and pilots and although their facilities aren't as nice, our experience with Seattle Seaplanes was significantly better than we had with their cross-lake competitors, Kenmore Air. Although Seattle Seaplane's facility and parking look a lot sketchier than Kenmore Air's, the overall experience at Seattle Seaplanes was much better. The office staff was much friendlier and more welcoming and the pilots were much more engaging, informative during the flight, and seemed to enjoy their jobs as pilots and tour guides much more than their competitors. At first I missed the reassuring, more business-like, small airport environment of Kenmore Air, but once we got to talking with the Seattle Seaplanes staff, my concerns went away and I enjoyed the experience much more. We took the 20-minute tour of the Seattle area and our pilot, James, did a great job of pointing out the sights and explaining what we were seeing. The takeoff and landing were very smooth and James would do little things like tilt the plane or make an extra loop around the lake so we could enjoy better views. After the tours (we were part of a large group) we enjoyed the nice weather from Seattle Seaplane's front porch and porch swing. Parking could be better, but overall Seattle Seaplanes provides a great way to experience the city. read more

We took the 20-odd minute tour, which takes off from Lake Union, passes over the UW, and checks out Lake Washington before circling back to the city, passing over Discovery Park and the Ballard Locks before landing again on Lake Union. Our pilot was very friendly and informative, and we had an excellent trip. It's not a cheap ride, but on a sunny day the view is absolutely worth it. A word to the wise: If you don't like flying, you might want to give this a miss. I'm not an especially happy flyer, and even though we had calm weather, the Cessna was shaken around enough by the wind to make me feel pretty jumpy. Flying in a small plane is definitely different than flying in a large one. That being said, the trip was worth it...but I don't know if I'd do it again. read more

We had a very fun and memorable family experience with Seattle Seaplanes. The pilot, Kit, was great; she explained everything we could want to know about the plane, what to expect during the flight, and she pointed out many Seattle area landmarks during our tour. The flight itself is a hoot. One has to appreciate the weirdness of taxiing across the water in a plane while waving at the folks in the Ducks amphibious vehicles on the lake. 20 minutes in the air was just about the right amount. The experience is approximately 45 minutes overall including taxiing out and back. I have to ding one star for the experience, though, because we got rescheduled twice. I cannot complain that they had maintenance issues that had to be handled--I would not want to fly unless they were!--but it did goof up our vacation schedule a little bit. I am thankful that we were able to find another day during our trip that worked, but even then, we had to be rescheduled from our morning slot (that would have given us the rest of the day to do other things) to mid-day because they were down a pilot. Slightly frustrating after having been moved once already. read more

I came here with my son the other day, and he was so excited that I purchased a flight for him for the next day. He's been talking about seaplanes and flying for some time now, so I thought I'd jump on the opportunity! We loved it here. He loved his flight (he went without me) and I enjoyed talking to the employees while he was flying around the city. He's now wanting to save up for one of their two hour flights to the Olympic Mountains. We'll see how that goes, but I think it'll happen some time next year.
