Since the Seattle Seahawks' first season in 1976, the franchise hadn't had much sustained success until the 21st century. That success was mostly due to head coaches Mike Holmgren (1999-2008) and Pete Carroll (2010-present) and QB Russell Wilson (2012-2021). Of course, the big news this year happened in March when the Seahawks traded Wilson to the Denver Broncos. Entering the 2022 season, the Russell Wilson era in Seattle is officially over. The Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers joined the NFL together in 1976. Since then, both teams have appeared in multiple Super Bowls and each team has won at least one Super Bowl. The Seahawks won Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014 (2013 season) and the Bucs won Super Bowls XXXVII in 2003 (2002 season) and LV in 2021 (2020 season). Mike Holmgren, one of the best NFL head coaches in the 90s and 2000s, turned this franchise around. After being highly successful in Green Bay, leading Brett Favre and the Packers to the Super Bowl XXXI championship in 1997 (1996 season), he signed on to be Seattle's head coach beginning in 1999. Before his final season in 2008, Holmgren had the Seahawks in the playoffs five consecutive times (2003-2007). That stretch was highlighted by an appearance in Super Bowl XL in 2006 (2005 season). That Seahawks team was led by players like Matt Hasselbeck and Shaun Alexander. Alexander was the NFL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year that season (2005). As a Georgia Tech fan, I remember when Russell Wilson played college football at ACC rival NC State (2007-2010). He wasn't a high draft pick. The Seahawks drafted him with the 75th overall pick (third round) in the 2012 NFL Draft. He immediately started for Seattle and won the Super Bowl in only his second season (2013). Since being drafted, he started every game for the Seahawks until being ruled out of Week 6 in 2021 due to a broken finger. The injury ended Wilson's regular season consecutive starts streak at 149 games. It's sixth all-time only to Favre (297), Philip Rivers (240), Eli Manning (210), Peyton Manning (208), and Matt Ryan (154). Defending my Seahawks. But you do it because it makes you proud! But today, for a 2nd year in a row, the tide turned again in favor of our beloved Seahawks and now we're off to Super Bowl XLIX on Febuary 1st, 2015. THE FINALE So for the NFC Championship, everyone was on pins & needles as the score stood 22-22. Then Russell Wilson completed a 35-yard pass to Doug Baldwin who flashed down the field, and then followed it up with a completion to Jermaine Kearse for another 35 yards and a touchdown. And that's how the game was won! THE ANAYSIS You really want to see two teams - both at their best - for a true, equitable match-up on the field. But it has to be stated that this game was bungled by calls made by Mike McCarthy, failing to take advantage of opportunities. Even as recent as 27 minutes ago, he just stated to NBC Sports, "I'm not questioning my play calling." Whatever the case, he allowed the Seahawks to come back from 12 points under (7-19) with less than four minutes remaining. And for THAT, I'm grateful to him! HA! PERSONAL TAKE-AWAY Yeah, I'm excited my Seahawks are going to Super Bowl XLIX, but *sweet jesus*, it was unfortunate waiting til the 4th Quarter to get outta that hole. Food-For-Thought. In fact, if there had been just a mere 5 minutes LESS left on the clock when their pick-up (would have) occured, they would have been SOL. 9/10/21 When visiting Seattle,  I have walked by this stadium a number of times. I have also driven by it, but at the time, I was not onto football.  Even if Monday nights a great time for football, I never checked out this stadium.   I was not into birds either until meeting my wife.  I think the Osprey is a beautiful bird, however since I picked The Baltimore Ravens as my team in 2012-2013, I hand two other teams who possibly candidates.   The Denver Broncos was my second choice, but the third choice was The Seattle Seahawks.  The navy blue colors with the lime green are nice.   Seattle Washington is a nice state, and my second favorite place to visit. I wouldn't mind moving out there to live.  Something that is still quote possible.  I remember going by the Lumen Technologies (as it is called today) and it not being there.   Now that I look at the history of the stadium, I am wondering if I am just imagining walking  by the area where it now stands.    Seeing the icon of The Seattle Seahawks on the face of the stadium is something that has been burned into my brain. I think about how The Baltimore Ravens were looked at as a fan favorite to when the Superbowl as the defending champions that year, but we sneezed. Because (yes, I know I started a sentence off with because...because it was nessasary) The Baltimore Ravens  sneezed,  the fail to make it to the playoffs....MAINLY, BECAUSE WE COULD NOT WIN GAMES TO GET US THERE. Nevertheless, The  San Diego Chargers (as they were known back then) got just enough points and luck to make into the wild card round. It was very disappointing to watch my team fail,  but very rewarding to see another bird team make it.   This team along with the 12th Fan (because it can be either sex) dominated  the 3rd and 4th quarter, but the real dommination took place after the coin toss in the Superbowl.   In the words of Captain Pike, "That was an epic beating."  For the Denver Broncos fans, watching that game must have been very hard.   The following year, watching the Seattle Seahawks and the 12th Fans returned to the Superbowl yet again.   The battle went back and forth and in the end, The New England Patriots pulled off a victory by intercepting a throw meant for #83 Ricardo Quantaye Lockette.   I read this on Wikipedia  where "Seattle's offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said afterwards in a post-game interview that Lockette "could have done a better job staying strong on the ball."  Darrell Bevell not bitter much.  Russell Wilson also got a tone of crap for the play he and  Coach  Pete Carroll decided.   In the game of football and life, one is going to have to make decisions and live with the outcome of those choices.  Still, watching the out come can be one pain in the ass when it's your team losing. Spazwizard on YouTube comments said "The Legion Of Boom started against Tom Brady in 2012, and ended by Tom Brady in 2014."    I hope the next time I am in Seattle Washington,  I will get to visit The Seahawk Stadium.  Yeah, I might be wearing my team colors, bit I will have fun seeing The Legion Of Boom.  I might even checkout Utilikilts too. read more

BEST NFL TEAM EVER!!!!!!!! Okay, I'm biased, but still, SEAHAWKS, BABY! There's nothing like going to a Seahawks game at CenturyLink. Nothing. The 12th Man is truly the best fan in the world, and it's obvious once you step into the stadium. When the visitor's offense is up on the field, you best be getting up from that chair and yelling as loud as you can, as the CLink is one of the loudest stadiums in the world. Again, this is because Seahawks fans are die hard fans, and we will do anything to help our beloved Seahawks. So, remember to get loud AF and if you're not down with that - please stay home. Tickets are expensive, but SO WORTH IT. Make friends with season tickets holders, in hopes they'll take you to a game or two. And if you're even thinking about becoming a season ticket holder then good luck. It'll be a longgggg time 'til your name is finally up, so again, make friends with season ticket holders. The CLink is a big stadium, and I admit that at the shittiest/cheapest seats - it's hella hard to see the game. But not to fret - there are TVs everywhere. Just don't forget to layer up because we don't play in a dome - it's open roof. Honestly, there's no place I'd rather be than at a Seahawks game. GO HAWKS!!!! read more

It was always a joy to see Jim Harbaugh vs Pete Carroll. Giving mad respect to the 12th man. They sure do make it hard for opposing teams to win at their house. This team is still pretty stacked, it's not like they lost a ton of players. It's crazy how so many different wide outs step up for this team. Truly "Next Man up". Not just them but the corner position as well. Seattle has the best defensive back field in the league. Take note NFC until somebody can prove that they could knock Seattle out in the playoffs. Seattle's going to be on top of the NFC. We all could get mad and belly ache and cry, whatever. But the top two teams to beat are the Patriots in the AFC and the Seahawks in the NFC. Just like Ric Flair says" To be the MAN you gotta beat the Man". Oh and another thing why didn't Lynch get the ball on the last play in the Super Bowl? I went to Seattle hoping to Seahawks, and I admit maybe some buzzards and such too, but all I managed to do was Seagulls. I have massive respect for the Seagulls, hence I always capitalize their name, Seagulls. I have liked them ever since the Seagulls franchise was but a twinkle in its mother gull's eye. First-Hand Experience: I've been lucky enough to see the Seagulls play at home at Seagulls stadium, and the crowd is one of the best in any sport anywhere in the world. Based on the stadium and crowd they score 5. Based on the team before they became good, they score 5. But I don't like how dominant they've been and some of their attitudes, and I don't like the decision not to go with Lynch when it would have won them the Superbowl, so I'm giving them a 4. I still really like and respect them though, but not when they're facing one of my fave AFC teams. Still, watching them in person is amazing. If you only go to one stadium in the NFL to watch one team, this may be the team & stadium. It's so loud and amazing. Now that I've seen every NFL team play live & been to every NFL stadium (current and former), time to review them on Yelp! I love stadiums! I've been to every cool stadium in the UK & North America, due to my obsession with travel & sport. I've toured America as a musician for 7 years. Which has country music and various food tents with hot dogs and macaroni salad. puke wait for an hour for a beer. ‍ Honey bucket pee porta Pottys surround the perimeter of this "VIP EXPERIENCE ". Never again. Then You wait for the shuttle bus with drunk people to transport you to the event. However it doesn't show up on time. So you pay extra again for a private van to transport you to Century Link field. Really??? Sucks to be me. Never again ! Could have had a better experience going it alone. Seattle deserves better. I have never paid this much money and been so disappointed. Why do this to the fans??? Empty parking lot next door had razor wire. Why even subject us to this sardine can party? Terrible. The Seahawks made me fall even more in love with a city I already love to pieces. Here's the deal... I'm not a good sports fan. I hardly know a thing about any sport, let alone football. But over the past few months I found myself looking up from my knitting or my Kindle and watching all this fuss over our local beloved team. My boyfriend and his friends would scream and shout and I would be happy for them. Then the games got more intense and it started to really look like it was finally going to happen for the first time in years. Seattle was headed to the Super Bowl. I found myself intensely interested in the success of our local team and even managed to learn the names, numbers, and positions of the players on our team. And I know that sounds silly because most people know a great deal more than me, but the reason this matters is because here I am, someone that already loves my city, and I found myself feeling hopeful, feeling prideful, and excited for the city, the players, and the people of Seattle. Suddenly I wanted this just as bad as everyone else. All of the people who've waited 29 years for this to happen, all of the people who hung on, hoped, and stayed loyal... You amaze me. And I think a huge part of the team's success this season was due in part to the 12th man. I know I'm a tag along and a poser, but isn't that actually a good thing? Isn't the beauty of all of this that our city is more united than ever? That the 12th man gets even bigger and louder? I used to be one of those people who'd boast about knowing nothing about sports, but now I'm painting my nails green and blue and Tweeting "congrats!" to Russell Wilson. I can't jump in and pretend I have been there all along but I think the Seahawks did our city a huge favor. I can't drive anywhere these past few weeks and not feel a buzz or a tingle. I Love these guys. I really do. The special burden of being a sports fan in this town is never being taken seriously by the rest of the country. If we lose, it's always because we're a crappy team from a crappy town with no fan base. When we win, it's always a "fluke" or because the crowd is "too loud" or because that other team has *insert excuse 1 through 199 here*. But here's what I love. Win or lose THEY love US, too. When they are good, they are fanfucktastic. When they aren't, oh god they really aren't. I have a movie weakness. And it's football movies. Preferably true story, underdog, tragedy ridden. But i'll watch any damn movie about football. (Most sports, but football is my Achilles) which is weird, because I only vaguely even get the game. Don't talk strategy and complicated plays or rules at me. Lord, god, don't. I'm not trying to armchair anything or relieve some failed high school glory here. I'm here to have fun and watch it just for the pure enjoyment of the struggle between my team and those other guys. And I feel the same way about Seahawk football that I do those damn dumb sports movies. The pure ALLTHEFEELS of it. I LOVE the drama, the smack talking national announcers, the insane highs and exciting wins, the coaches, the rituals, and the chance to make sure I can still remember all 7984532949 curse words and that my screams can be heard 3 blocks from my living room. I will admit that I am a bandwagon fan. All you hardcore fans can go ahead and talk shit about me, but the truth is, football can be pretty boring. That is until you find an exciting team. There have been a few for me: 80's 49ers with Joe Montana, 2000 Baltimore Ravens, and now the Seahawks. I started watching them regularly back in 2012. With the combo of players like Russel Wilson, Marshawn Lynch and Richard Sherman(and the entire Legion of Boom), it was hard to NOT love them(Unless you're a 49er fan though, naturally). I grew up a 49er fan, and my Dad is really tempted to disown me because of my love for the Seahawks, but I just can't help it. The energy they bring to the city is amazing though. A week after their first Super Bowl win and the city is still ecstatic. It's brought all kinds of people together. I have plenty of friends who don't give a shit about football, who can't get enough of the Hawks, watched the Super Bowl, went to the parade, etc. It's brought an entire City, and really the entire state together. I think as long as you're a Hawks fan, the entire "Seattle Freeze" is gone. I am sure I will get over watching the Seahawks games eventually, I am a fair-weathered fan like that. The Hawks are kind of mean. They often suck...but sometimes they have these brief moments of brilliance where you forget the fact that they lost the previous three in a row or that they made the playoffs with a record of 7-9. The problem with forgetting those things is that the we, the 12th Man, are often set up to experience some crushing defeat without really expecting it. What it comes down to is....the Seahawks are a group of cruel, cruel heart-breakers. They care more about scalpers, literally, than they do people who sit in the seats. Most NFL teams have policies in place to prevent people from selling season tickets above list price. With real franchises like Green Bay or New England, you can't sell your season tickets for a profit. Get caught doing it and you lose them. In Seattle, you can. What's the big deal? This leads to scalpers buying all of those season tickets. Are you an actual fan and want to go to the game? Well now you have to pay an extra 30-200% to the scalper in addition to the ticket. The Seahawks don't care about the experience. If they cared about the 12th Man, they'd change this policy and let the real fans actually buy the tickets. read more

The Seahawks are a very good team...I think they have a chance to continue to build on their success in the future.... I was very disappointed by the Super Bowl letdown, but I think the coaches and players will learn from this experience (hopefully) and propel themselves into another winning season. Hopefully at the end of next season we won't be talking about another bad decision by the coaching staff... What can I say, I absolutely love them. It was such a fun experience to see them play in person! If you haven't don't it before, I highly recommend you add that to your bucket list! It's a loud and rowdy experience going to a live game, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! Pete does an excellent job as does the whole coaching team and the team in general im very impressed. I thought the strategy would be loose and pick up more guys but nope paul allen died and the team woke up. Took 2 seasons when Russell Wilson started and look at these guys click.
