Yes, The Seattle Mariners. Being New York Met fan, I can only speak as an outsider. I have felt their pain seeing them year after year, Season after season struggle with the top the big dogs of the American League trying to reclaim the heat of the 90's they had. Even in their immediate division those pesky Astros keep the peddle on. It wasn't always like this we know. Seattle Mariners fans know that name, oh yeah. Ken Griffey Jr. I sure did come up with a growing interest in Baseball. This guy's name was Everywhere as far as Baseball goes in the mid 90's. He was in video games - including Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball. where he is credited special Design consultant and again years later for another feature game. He even still to this day, has a sneaker line - Air Griffey Max 24. How about Ichiro "You should seek approval from yourself" Suzuki? 2 consecutive years of 200+ hits? This guy could hit and have heard wasn't too bad at base stealing in his best years. Or Randy Johnson? Helping bring the heat in the 90's also with some fierce pitching, including a whopping 300+ Strikeouts in the 1993 season. whoa. There are more Mariner greats, but we know that. Being here in Seattle, I'm still going to root from my NYM, but in the spirit of baseball and keeping tabs on the local team Go Mariners. Sea Us Rise!

In Major League Baseball, the Atlanta Braves are my team, but if I had to root for an American League team, it'd be the Seattle Mariners. How can I not root for a team that's co-owned by Nintendo of America? ;) I was introduced to the Mariners through Nintendo's old magazine, Nintendo Power. One of baseball's best and most popular players, Ken Griffey Jr. ("the Kid"), played for the Mariners. He was on the cover of Nintendo Power three times: * April 1994 (Vol. 59) for Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball * May 1996 (Vol. 84) for Ken Griffey Jr.'s Winning Run * May 1998 (Vol. 108) for Major League Baseball Featuring Ken Griffey Jr. The first two games mentioned above were released for the Super Nintendo. The third game was released for the Nintendo 64. Ken Griffey Jr. was in a fourth Nintendo game, Ken Griffey Jr.'s Slugfest, released in 1999. Ken Griffey Jr. was also on the cover of MLB The Show 17, released for the PlayStation 4 in 2017, seven years after his retirement. That should tell you how big of a star he was/is. At the time of writing this review, Ken Griffey Jr. is among one of the highest vote-getters for baseball's Hall of Fame, garnering 99.32% of votes in 2016. While I don't know baseball like I do other sports (college basketball, NBA, golf, college football), based on my limited knowledge and Nintendo-biased/influenced opinion, I consider Ken Griffey Jr. to be the best baseball player to not win a World Series. He's like John Stockton and Karl Malone. Nintendo owned a 55% stake in the franchise from 1992 to 2016. That stake was reduced to 10% in 2016, concurrent with former Nintendo of America chairman, Howard Lincoln, stepping down as CEO for the team. How the Mariners came to be majority-owned by Nintendo is an interesting bit of history. From a prepared statement by Nintendo: "As many of you know, Nintendo of America Inc., which is headquartered in the Seattle area, was approached by local representatives in the early 1990s and invited to invest in the team, which was at risk of being moved away from the region. The late Hiroshi Yamauchi, at that time the president of Nintendo Co., Ltd., agreed to spend his own money to purchase the majority ownership of the team in order to show Nintendo's appreciation to the U.S. for helping Nintendo do business in the country, and to contribute to the local residents and area. He became the principal owner of the team in 1992." To date, the Mariners have yet to win a World Series. They played their first season in 1977. Presently, they rank towards the bottom, all-time, in overall wins and losses in MLB. Hopefully, they'll get better.

Beautiful rainless summer night

Dodge the raindrops or if you're lucky enough to catch a clear night, there's close to none better than catching the Mariners on a midsummer's night. Easy parking factor: You'll walk a little, but you'll also only pay a little, unless you need to park next door. If you're staying downtown the stadium is a decent walk from most places as well. Cheap ticket factor: spend under $20 for decent seats in most instances, unless you're one of those who just has to be field-level. Aftermarket sites will only help drive that price down. Welcoming factor: Laid-back vibe in Seattle, and the fan has been king since the days of the Kingdome. Food factor: The high-rollers are feasting on Din Tai Fung, Li'l Woody's and Paseo, while the rest of us will skip the $5.50 water and hit up the Mariners Deal of the Day and Beer Value Sections (yes they exist). Lots to enjoy right near the park too. Move freely about the cabin factor: So many places to view the skyline and be closer to the action in this park. Be sure to cruise all levels in outfield and watch some pitches in the vestibule behind the plate. Little kid souvenir factor: We missed visitor BP due to traffic but the fan electricity will make it memorable for kids of any age. It was such a perfect for baseball I almost forgot the always 45-min traffic jam on I-5 coming in, almost. I'll hopefully be back, getting into town early next time.

Great place to watch a baseball game! The park has a lot of food, beverages and team related items for purchase. If you want a great view of the game, the 100 sections are excellent views. The volunteers in the stadium are helpful as well. Covid precautions are in place and there is reduced capacity.

Great stadium! Good food, team happened to win the day we went. That was super fun, definitely somewhere you want to bring family

Worst managed team in baseball.. First team to spend $100,000,000 and lose 100 games in baseball. If this ownership group understood what this team needed they would sell to someone who desires to win.....

Look at how happy the dudes in the back of the pic are.. hahaha

We had so much fun at our first Mariners game! Since then we have been back 3-4 times. Go Mariners! My favorite experience is obviously when we win but even losing the crowd is a great sport and the city still seems to party! The beer garden is hip and fun. The garlic fries are so delicious! A couple times we took the train/tram to and from our hotel to the stadium, that's a fun way to get there! Other times we just ubered. Super great experiences over all!

They close the roof when it's sunny out. It's pretty ridiculous that they don't allow the sun even if it's Seattle

Best Hockey Experience!…read more Have been to hockey for the Sharks, Avalanche (success), Blackhawks (success and history!), and Coyotes (back in the day). All have their own style and cool attributes. The Kraken are right there with the best! Climate Pledge Arena is phenomenal with the ease, layout, good food, and amenities. Even more, the fan energy is the best I've seen-- super engaged throughout and positive no matter what, stadium is nearly full every game I've been to, tons of Kraken jerseys, and there's love for the players. The integration of the Junior Kraken and kids is awesome, too. My daughter loves the DJ and the Kpop mix. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Security is reasonable on checks and speed. And the mix of multimedia and game focus is a superb mix. Be it for a one-time experience or because you went and can't help but keep going back... it's fun to RELEASE THE KRAKEN

Seattle Kraken have brought a much-desired additional sports team to the Seattle area and as of…read morewriting this are on a impressive playoff run drawing more fans and making many sports bars very happy. It started in 2018 when the NHL approved Seattle to have the 32nd franchise, two years later the teams name is revealed - Seattle Kraken which I think they did a good job with. The name, colors and emblem are all pretty cool. 2021 They add 30 players in the expansion draft and would play their first preseason game against the Vancouver Canucks. Again, to the present, Kraken are making a playoff run just two years into their inception. I'm not a huge NHL fan I'm in the spirit of a new team being in town, and enjoy seeing true hockey fans embracing it. Hopefully Basketball comes back. Until then, maybe I'll check out a regular season game in the next one. Go Kraken!
