***500th Review*** Play ball! I love Seattle and I love the Mariners so there is no way I wouldn't give them five stars. Over the past years, there have been more ups than downs -- frustrations with ownership, money, and "up-and-coming" players from Triple A that don't seem to pan out -- but they're my team and I won't give up on them. So far, it seems like we might be experiencing an "up" season, so I'm patiently waiting. Maybe we don't have a World Series Championship in our history book but we've seen stars like Ken Griffey Jr., A-Rod (don't kill me, because you know it's true), Randy Johnson, Jay Buhner, Edgar Martinez, and more come through our ball club. And you can never forget the voice of the Mariners: Dave Niehaus, with his "My oh My"'s and commentary that would send chills up and down your spine. In the meantime, who can argue with supporting some of the great pitchers on our team like Felix Hernandez and Hisashi Iwakuma and leaders like Robinson Cano (no matter what you think, the M's HAD to shell out that money). It's been a while, so people forget how electric our fans can be while we're cheering for a winning team. My all-time favorite player Ken Griffey Junior was a big reason I grew to love this team... It truly saddens me that the team isn't very good anymore, but I'll continue to support this team... I grew up in Seattle loving the M's Griffey Jr., Griffey Sr, Lou Piniella, the big unit, the bone, and Edgar and was there for the '95 "refuse to lose" run when they beat the Angels in the King Dome to take 1st place in the American League West. Dang, those were exciting times but 16 years now without making the playoffs? Come on! It's time to start making some in-season moves to acquire some talent and get back to greatness. THIS JUST IN, MARINERS A HOME RUN! Grammy took 6 handsome grandsons to a baseball game, and did we have fun? U BET WE HAD FUN. Christopher bought a hat, Steven had a hot dog. The older boys ordered too many beers and kept trying to get grammy to take a sip. But I don't do that! And they know that! But it was still funny to see them dance to the music and try to get "the wave" started. LOL :-) A young mexican was pitching. They called him Mr King Felix. The stadium liked him. LOUD LOUD LOUD Cheering All Game!! It was Negro Night and the Scoreboard had videos playing of old games and it was nostalgic for an old coot like me. Reminds me of times that used to be. When my grandmother turned 80 years old and invited everyone to a game for the occasion, it would have been nice if you could have won. I know that is asking a lot though, since you ARE the Mariners, so, I mean, it would have been nice if you didn't lose atrociously, if you didn't get shut out 10 to nothing so that we didn't even feel like sticking around for the end of the game. Yesterday I wrote a review stating I had almost completely given up on the Mariners. Then Dave Niehaus passed away. I'm sorry, Dave. How could I? You never gave up on the Mariners even in the darkest of times. You will be sorely, sorely missed. Highly recommended, even for those who aren't real baseball fans, like me. It's just for the atmosphere! Probably the nice sunny outdoors has something to do with it, but more importantly for us yelpers, there's a TON of different foods to try there! It's not restaurant food, but hey, it sure beats the crap out of whatever the Canucks sell lol. Here's my recommended list: 1. Garlic Fries 2. Deep fried mushrooms (5 min wait though) 3. Tachos: chili beans, pork, drenched all over w/ sour cream 4. Dreyer's ice cream 5. Crepes!! And we only get Churros & Klondikes for dessert lol (they have this too) Didnt try their gourmet hot dogs, pulled pork sandwich, deep fried twinkies, thai food, it's endless.... Stay away from their cheeseburgers, it was dry and plain jane. what a waste of $6.75 Basically my experience is in addition to the wide amazing of food, as well as another plaza of concession food--- organic gourmet hot dogs, smoothies even, and 'fondue on a stick', Safeco Field is a way more vibrant buzz than a Canuck game. !/3 of the 50,000 fans are there just to drink beer and eat, as they're NOT in the seats, but on 3 different concourses milling around, not even paying attention to the game. for a first-time, one is just blown away by the size of this stadium, which is an architectural wonder in itself---esp. the retractable roof. Think it's around 5 years old or something, no wonder these americans have this down pat...lol If you get there early and willing to park 10 blocks away for a 15min. walk on a nice sunny day, there's free parking ;) otherwise, it ranges from $15-$40 for prime location... read more

After having had a knee & hip replacement, I thought I could make it through the stadium to my seat, but when staff saw me struggling, they came to my aid with a wheelchair and took me the rest of the way. Once at the section, they walked me all the way down to my row, and then made arrangements with me to come pick me up later, towards the end of the game. They were right there, and wheeled me all the way outside of the stadium & across the street to where my ride was. We were grateful for their kindnesses and alertness, and were very thankful for their efficient assistance, which enabled us to enjoy the game by alleviating our stress. read more

I can't say I'm a huge baseball fan. However, I went to one game last year with my old office, and it happened to be the big thrilling Ichiro record breaker. What an awesome time to be at Mariner's stadium! They had a big tribute to him on the large screen (see photos). The garlic fries are delicious, if you're in the market for a heart attack. My favorite thing is that they change the words to the cheesy 90's song "Tootsie Roll" to "Ich-i-ro". Classy. read more

I hadn't been to a game for over 15 years and bought tickets for one of the first games of the season. Unfortunately we had some very drunk, racial slurring folks behind us. We told security repeatedly but they weren't asked to leave. I wrote the Mariners after the game letting them know details, not expecting anything, just wanted to let them know that they may need to speak to their security a little more when situations like this happen. To my surprise I received a call from their customer service department asking details about what happened. He seemed genuinely concerned and followed up with me after speaking to the 2 security gentlemen we complained to. Very impressed by the customer service and I've purchased tickets to 2 games since. Such a great venue. It makes me proud to live here. And the 2018 team is scoring runs. So much fun! BUT!!! Beers are now up to $12.50 and it just ruins the experience. It's hard to find a once-quite-likable team as likable if they're not getting anywhere. Conversely, when was the last time the Mariners were within a stone's throw of the playoffs? It's been a long, difficult couple-of-years for Seattle sports clubs. (The Seattle sports clubs that remain. David Stern is a heartless cad.) OK, so the Mariners still have Ichiro. And they've got the presumptuousness of King Felix. And the somehow-acquired Cy Young winner Cliff Lee. And the comfortingly friendly face of Junior, who still sports the most gorgeous swing you've ever seen. But even with these gentlemen in their midst, are the Mariners going anywhere? What is their arc? And to be blunt; are other teams afraid of them? Doesn't seem to be that way. It's tough to like a once-likable team when they're not getting any traction between the rubber and the road. read more

TV BROADCAST 2008 version: Okay who let this Dave Simms guy bump our beloved Rick Rizzs off the Seattle Mariner's tv broadcast team. He still does a great job on the radio every Mariner game, but this new guy on the TV doesn't know 10% of the game info about the sport that Rizzs knows. Rick Rizzs is the best baseball voice in the entire game and if we don't treat him well, he'll get gone to greener or winning er pastures. Rizzs never has a bad thing to say about anything (most positive attitude I've ever seen in a guy). Please get ride of Dave Sims and bring back Rick Rizzs to television. read more

I remember Randy Johnson in '95 and yadda yadda yadda, that was then. 2001 and 116 wins, that was then too... but its time to look towards the future and be optimistic. Felix Hernandez has turned into an ace and Ichiro has a quality defender beside him in Franklin Gutierrez, something he has lacked with Raul Ibanez's stiff defense and the departure of Adam Jones, who vicariously is still here grimacing in the form of a torn labrum in Erik Bedard's shoulder. read more

I love going to see a game at the stadium, every seat is good. Not to mention great food.

We have been Mariners fans a long time, and season ticket holders for 20+ years, but no more. Increasingly the Ms games are attended by visiting team fans who over consume alcohol and get truly obnoxious and crazy loud, even for a baseball game. Our worst experience was our last one, when three drunken visiting fans behind us were deafeningly loud, including nonstop, earsplitting whistling. When we finally asked them to dial it down a little, they refused and got even louder. Well, that can happen in an era of very rude people, but when I told our usher, as I warned the loud fans I would do, her security chief would not allow alcohol enforcement officers to check on these fans, and he declined to do anything at all. (He told our ushers he offered to reseat us and the visiting team fans, but in reality he did not speak to us or them.) Emboldened by this lack of response by security, the visiting fans escalated to directly harassing us, then yelling obscenities and insults at us for the rest of the game. Periodically we informed the ushers: the security chief continued to do nothing. Essentially we ended up being bullied for the entire game, which is not the kind of thing you want to pay good money to experience. I'd add that I emailed the Ms customer service about this and got no response. So, we aren't renewing our seats next year or, likely, spending to attend any more games. And I'd recommend you don't either, because this has been an escalating problem that seems to be worsening at games, with no response by the Ms staff that we've seen. read more

I used to go every year for Mothers Day with my family, but this year, it's like they've given up on the food which is sad looking with no flavor, and the servers seem bored. If you are looking for an overpriced crispy polish sausage in a generic bun, go for it, otherwise, eat before the game. read more

Usually enjoy seeing a game at Safeco. However bought tickets online and was sold row 41A... Had no idea they were in the handicap row meant for wheelchairs. We were treated rather poorly, management had cleaners come and interrupt our enjoyment of the game to clean some peanut shells off the floor. We were told we had to move our chairs apart and were generally made to feel unwelcome. Don't know if it was the Mariners management or a self important attendant, but made the experience rather unpleasant. read more

Well I love the Mariners so, I am a little biased! The check in however is about the team and not the field so speaking about the team the ticket prices and food is a little high. However the food selection, team store, and entertainment value of a baseball game is worth it. Also they have a lot of creative giveaways and promotions all the time. read more

This is a great location for baseball. The park has an intimate feel that has contemporary features, but has that traditional feel. Even with the roof closed, you still get the open air feel of the game. read more

I love living in a city with baseball again!!!! (Booo Portland) The stadium is very nice and most of the food is pretty good, but of course considerably overpriced. They have a decent selection of beers, not just Bud, Bud Light and Coors and one Micro, but you may have to visit a couple of different vendors to find what you need. This is our first year living in Seattle and we've already been to 4-5 games. We are considering the small pack of season tickets next year. read more

What I do not love is the fair weather fans that love them when them win...turn out in droves to see Ken Griffey Jr, will always "remember where they were" when they beat the Yankees but....when they are losing these fans are the first to complain and not support them.
