What do you get a guy who has everything - you get him an experience he has never had! Helicopter! I called them up- got my appointment on his Birthday; no problem. Day's later- I decided to take it a step further. I noticed we lived not that far off the flight path- and thought "how cool would it be if I made a GIANT sign on the roof of our home, then got to fly over it...?" I called and asked Seattle HeliTours- please please can you fly over my home... they called me back with a YES! This part may make you ill; the day before I bought 4' Blue Painters Tape went on the roof and taped a huge I LOVE YOU. The day of the flight the pilot maintained the surprise for my boyfriend; they were professional, kins, bend over backwards kind of folks! We did 2 circles around the house and my Boyfriends Birthday was a success as was his surprise! The views, the helicopter, the pilot everything was an experience of a lifetime.

Jay gave us the choice of where we wanted to fly, it was a great evening flight where he flew to see Mt. Rainier, Mt Adams and Mt St. Helen. Then he flew us to Bellevue circled around the city and headed to the Space Needle. It was unbelievable how close he flew to the Space Needle and downtown Seattle. He then headed down the straits back to Gig Harbor, explaining all the sights along the way. He then circled around Fox Island did a great landing at the airport for a great flight. It will be a birthday I will never forget.

As more of my friends have crossed this age milestone, I've seen the full spectrum of responses: people who downplay it and later wish they'd done something special, people who throw huge parties and regret the stress and effort, and people who choose extreme adventures only to find the adrenaline crash leaves them feeling depleted afterward, bringing '50' home in a hard way. This struck exactly the right balance. It was special enough to feel like a true celebration, offered a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and created memories (and amazing photos) I'll carry with me for years. We really wanted to do a sunset flight with Seattle Ballooning last year (Aug. 2025) for our 10 year anniversary, but our flight got cancelled on our way there due to high winds, which was quite the disappointment since it was on our anniversary but understandable for safety. We rescheduled for a few days later, made it out to the launching point for the rescheduled flight only to have it also cancelled... again due to wind. We were told we could reschedule again, but we decided to let Seattle Ballooning hold our tickets until the following summer (2026) so we could do a surprise sunrise flight (since we were told sunrise flights are much less likely to get cancelled) for our son's 10th birthday, which is also in August. And even though there wasn't a cloud in the sky and was a perfectly sunny day on Aug. 20th, we got cancelled on again for the 3rd time... due to fog (even though there was no fog and fog doesn't usually start in western WA until the fall). Needless to say, it's been a very disappointing experience all 3 times, especially since we keep seeing posts about all the flights happening and how now is the perfect time to schedule. While it has been a disappointing experience 2 summers in a row and was also quite the long process to get our money refunded, I can say that the balloon pilots we got to meet last year prior to our 2nd flight getting cancelled were very nice, and the office staff have been friendly. I just wish we could have actually gotten to fly since all the posts I've seen have looked so nice. So if you do book with this company, please be prepared to be cancelled on and maybe have a back-up plan if you're trying to celebrate a special occasion.

If you are a couple please note that you may be put into a plane with other people regardless of what plane and option you picked. You will not know about it until you get to the meeting point and one couple will not get to sit together. Thus, it may be better to look into other companies and there are others! If you are planning to go as a group, there are better and more professional establishments which are cheaper and/or same priced. The only saving point of this establishment is Mark (seaplane pilot) who made all the efforts to not only ensure that our experience on the air was great but also to redeem the Company. Overall, in the state where aviation is one of the major industries, there are better, more professional, and cost efficient companies and small businesses. Try them. They will have more respect and consideration for your experience. If you insist on booking from this establishment, exaggerate your weight to make sure that they cannot fly anyone with you.

Thankfully, our pilot, James, was a jovial fellow with a good command of his craft. A short three minutes later I felt my pucker give way to a state of enrapturement at the Seattle skyline from several hundred feet in the air. There is a certain giddiness that comes from laughing in the face of your own mortality, especially with James on the mike. The time will fly by and before you know it, you'll be descending back to Boeing Field. It's so surprising to realize how little runway this plane needs in order to land. How time flies…read more.. It's been way too long to mention the last time I've been here and usually it's because I was flying to PDX and there wasn't any direct flights but live and learn because the connecting flight was the tiniest plane for the distance I was going did intimidate me a bit. Fast forward to today I'm impressed of how stunning it is as we arrived in Concourse D everything including the Alaska lounge was just a few steps away you don't need to search for restrooms or places to eat there so much of that if not works of art everywhere. As we needed to change Concourse it was easy as using the SEA underground a train system that so fast and efficient without leaving the airport making the transition a breeze. Sadly we did arrive late in the night so most of the biz are closed you still feel very safe with lots of staff around. Since we do have a few hours to call it home knowing that they also have quite a bit of charging pilotless beside the seats at the gates it's not so bad and the weather quite cool as well. From there I made my way to the light rail. What a walk to this. I felt like it was a mile to get here. Once you think you are there, you turn a corner and find another long walkway to take. Making you think you have to walk along the edge because of the multitude of carts that will be transporting people. Spoiler alert, not a single cart came through here and there is more than enough space to freely walk where you want. Coming back her to fly out, I thought I was in for it. When I got off the light rail and made my way towards the terminal it looked like the longest line at an amusement park. I took my time outside because I thought I was going to be in a line forever. Still forever before I made my way to the gate, I was never happier to have Precheck. I got through that line rather quickly. On my way to the gate, I made a stop for food. I had my choices but went with fast. But the gate, lord was it crowded. I needed to find a place to eat my food, but the gates were just crowded with a ton of people. I did not care where I ate, as long as I could get my food down. While eating that's when two other flyers got into an argument, swapping name calls and getting in each others face. I had enough with it and turned around and told them to cut it out. It was not the time, nor the place. So many tired people, nowhere to sit, take it elsewhere. I finished my food, found a garbage can through the sea of people and made my way to a Hudson News to grab a puzzle book to kill the time until my flight boarded. By the time I made it back to my gate the flight before mine had boarded and seats had cleared out. I found one of the high top seats and settled in. It wasn't long until we were set to board and I was out of there.

We didn't know anything about going on safari, and Phil build a custom trip that catered to exactly our personal travel style of going to some of the more off-the-beaten-path places with fewer tourists, but still lots of amazing experiences (we watched a family of elephants chase off a pair of male lions!). Everyone we met was on their 4th or 10th safari and when they found out we'd never been before, they'd always ask, "So how did you even find this place?" Also I had no idea you could have a vacation with this much adventure and yet zero stress. Having Phil take care of everything and getting it all arranged for and paid in advance took a HUGE load off of us, which was so great as we both have jobs where we typically do a lot of planning and project management. By taking care of that, Phil let us go on an exciting vacation where we actually got to RELAX.
