This part may make you ill; the day before I bought 4' Blue Painters Tape went on the roof and taped a huge I LOVE YOU. The day of the flight the pilot maintained the surprise for my boyfriend; they were professional, kins, bend over backwards kind of folks! First they rescheduled us from Friday to Saturday but with a week's notice, that was fine. Then they rescheduled us to a week later because the pilot was out of the country. The day of our ride, they texted me two hours before our flight to say the pilot was stranded in Spain and they had to cancel. I was shocked that they didn't know earlier than two hours before our flight that the pilot wasn't available. They offered a discount to reschedule, but by that time I was so fed up trying to work with them that I cancelled and my husband's 80th birthday gift from me was completely spoiled.

We got stuck in Seattle and missed our original transportation by car and ferry but Friday Harbor Seaplanes came to our rescue. Michelle was absolutely amazing and got us booked on the first flight out the following morning so we didn't waste another moment of our trip. She arranged a shuttle to pick us up at the hotel we booked which was also quite the task as many hotels were completely booked up but we finally found one and Friday Harbor Seaplanes accommodated us and got us to the airport and flew us in to Orcas Island. I was really impressed by our pilot and how well he flew the plane. I was a bit nervous and I tend to get motion sickness and he made the flight very enjoyable and even checked in with me during the flight to see how I was feeling. I felt he took slight turns a bit more slow and careful with me in mind and it was very appreciated. My friend also had her baggage delayed by Delta Airlines for 2 days and Michelle was so kind to try and help us by arranging for the airport to deliver the luggage to them so they could bring it to the Friday Harbor dock on one of their daily flights. Unfortunately Delta was being lame and they wouldn't do it, but the fact that Friday Harbor Seaplanes was willing to help us went above and beyond our expectations. What amazing customer service! I hope to one day visit the islands again and without a doubt I will use Friday Harbor Seaplanes again. They treated us like family!! Thank you! I wholeheartedly recommend this business. They are all great people and do an excellent job!

We were flying low enough to see the scenery of the area including a good look at the Seattle skyline. There were some clouds so the mountain view was not as clear as it would be on a sunny day. Didn't really matter since there was so much else to see. Shane was the pilot both flights and he is very experienced and safety conscious. He also knows a tremendous amount about the area. That was an added bonus. Highly recommend this method of travel!

I took a class here last year in preparation for climbing Mt. Baker in WA state. I had zero…read moremountaineering experience but really wanted to learn what it was all about. I was sold when Chris did his first information session. Chris is such an experienced, calm, and teaching focused person. He described his approach to teaching climbing that just made sense for me. During the course we learned navigational skills, learned how to use all the climbing gear, how to safely cross glaciers, practice rescuing teammates from crevices (amazing experience!). We would learn the concepts in a classroom setting, then do an overnight camp/hike to practice all the skills in the wild. I knew nothing when I started the class, and I am now comfortable doing some of these things on my own, this is a testament to Chris' ability to teach and make sure you remember what you are taught. I would recommend this for anyone that is interested in mountaineering, it was such an amazing experience, and I have since drawn upon those skills in other outdoor scenarios. Chris makes this a comfortable learning environment, where you can challenge yourself, explore the wonder that is the mountains, and make some great friends! What are you waiting for?? GO GO GO!

I had never held an ice ax and didn't know what crampons were before I took the glacier climbing course, but Chris taught me everything I needed to know. He is very professional and methodical in his approach, teaching all of the necessary skills to a considerable amount of depth, and allowing for lots of practice between the classroom sessions and field trips. If you want to be hand-held up Baker in a hurry, look elsewhere. If you want to learn the skills and feel confident that you could navigate your way to the top or run a crevasse rescue, you can't do better than Chris. Definitely one of the most memorable experiences of my life!
