All I can say is wow, and wow after that! Aside from having an exceptional day for this cruise, it was made even more spectacular by captain Tom. You can tell how passionate he is about Gig Harbor and the surrounding areas that we cruised to. His narrative throughout was so informative, interesting and passionate our group of seven were totally enthralled and we're going to be taking our families. I would highly recommend this cruise, especially at the price. It is so darn affordable for 3 hours of nothing but awesomeness!

About to board a boat with Riviera Cruises!

I went on a Riviera Cruise for a work related event, a retirement party for a coworker this past summer. It was a lot of fun and the party itself went very smoothly! We went a sort of a circle in Commencement Bay and turned around in the Point Defiance area to head back to Thea Foss which is where we boarded the boat. Got lots of information to landmarks as we went by Brown's Point, a buoy with a big sea lion on it and other points of interest. So very grateful this was before the smoke season started because the views from the boat were just fantastic. Our hosts that kept the boat going did a superb job making us feel welcome and to make sure we had an enjoyable time. After this I went and looked at Riviera Cruises website and they do tours around Gig Harbor and just outside it as well as boat charting jaunts as well. I'd love to do the Gig Harbor option sometime as I haven't boated around in that area before and hopefully get some great tidbits of information with points of interest that we are seeing.

Captain Ethan was amazing! He is so knowledgeable about the history and all the ships in Puget Sound. He was also happy to answer any questions you could come up with. If your ever in Tacoma, I highly recommend this little cruise. We'll worth it!

An amazing opportunity for friends to get together!

I joined my girlfriends for a "ladies night out" on Riviera's 3-hour sunset cruise in late August. What a blast! Highly recommended for a super fun and informative tour around Gig Harbor and the South Sound area. We had both "old timer" local residents and newly relocated folks in our group. Everyone enjoyed taking in the beauty of the South Sound -- seeing the twinkle lights come on across the water, discovering tucked-away house camps on the water's edge and admiring some of the most beautiful view homes in the area. Motoring under the Narrows Bridge was quite a thrill as well. We spied seals and, we think, a porpoise along the way! Captain Tom's informative narration of what we were seeing contributed immensely to the experience. Some of us who have lived in the area for years learned new things and we were treated to some great Gig Harbor/Tacoma sailing lore as well. He was so good natured and even took a group photo for us mid-voyage! Accommodations on the boat were spacious and super clean. The bathroom (we now call it "the head") was spotless. Our evening was a bit chilly on the water and there was a nice, sheltered covered inside cabin area with a two-bench table for those who wanted to avoid the sea breeze and just chat among themselves. The upper deck was roomy enough for all of us and provided loft to see the wildlife from all angles! Of course we could also head up to the bow and really catch the wind. It was awesome! The nautical navigation was terrific -- those prone to sea queasiness felt none. Captain Tom's crew was mindful, polite and safety conscious. This evening cruise allowed us to bring our own appetizers and drinks (finger food, of course!). The three hours passed way too quickly and we all vowed to return again next year. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for a fantastic evening or a special occasion.

What a perfect way to celebrate my 70th Birthday with 3 dear friends on September 2nd! Captain Tom clearly loves the waterways out of Gig Harbor. His knowledge and joy in pointing out area highlights was great. Most amazing were the sunset views. Thanks so much, Captain Tom and Charlie!

Update: We had our wedding on the Riviera and it was the perfect! There was plenty of room for our 34 guests. Easy access for the older folks. All ages enjoyed the three hour cruise. The tables were just right for our cake, drinks & catering. We tied garlands onto the railings and didn't need any other decorations. The bathroom is nice and bigger than you'd expect. There are plenty of seats both outside and covered. Capt Tom read our vows and made sure that our guests were comfortable. He made sure that our wedding was a wonderful day for all. Highly highly recommended!!

Don't need to worry about doing something wrong as they give very clear instructions. Everything went perfect because the hosts are so organized and thorough in their communications. We did the all day sail including a very tasty lunch about which the host consulted with me in advance. You don't need to bring a thing but your personal items as they have beverages, wraps if it gets chilly or anything you might need. Four of the six of us are 80+ and we were able to manage fine maneuvering on, off and around the boat including using the "head". Each experience depends on the tides, wind, currents, weather and other boat traffic, which makes each day unique and they explain about how these relate to the sea life you see and your itinerary. Because we had a beautiful sunny day Mt Rainier was present during much of the cruise giving us spectacular photo ops. I can't recommend Hobbes sailing highly enough....

That's when we found Cruise Hobbes. I never thought we would be able to charter a sailboat with a crew for any length of time, but Cruise Hobbes's rates were extremely reasonable! On the appointed day, we met First Mate Karen and Captain Frank at the dock in Gig Harbor and after a quick briefing we were soon underway. In our correspondence, Karen found out that we had to forgo Hawaii. As soon as we stepped foot on deck, we were given leis, which was such a sweet, thoughtful touch! Before our sail, Karen asked us about any food allergies, requests, etc. Our snacks and lunch were delicious and in keeping with the Hawaiian theme. It was a BEAUTIFUL day for a sail. Plus, Frank and Karen are easy-going and a pleasure to spend time with. I highly, highly recommend chartering a trip with them. The sailboat is extremely comfortable. Everything is taken care of for you and customized to your tastes, and Karen and Frank are fantastic.

From the very first day of working with him to plan and organize our trip of a lifetime, we felt we were in great hands. Phil's fantastic first-hand knowledge of the camps allowed him to create a trip that far surpassed the typical group package deals. Phil meticulously plans every detail of the trip, from the best places to stay to recover from jet lag before the safari, to every transfer. You are never left wondering where to go or if someone will be there to meet you. The camps he chooses are small and personal, where you are taken care of and treated like family. The safari experience is second to none, with personal drivers and guides who are excellent, highly skilled, and knowledgeable. We didn't know anything about going on safari, and Phil build a custom trip that catered to exactly our personal travel style of going to some of the more off-the-beaten-path places with fewer tourists, but still lots of amazing experiences (we watched a family of elephants chase off a pair of male lions!). Everyone we met was on their 4th or 10th safari and when they found out we'd never been before, they'd always ask, "So how did you even find this place?" Also I had no idea you could have a vacation with this much adventure and yet zero stress. Having Phil take care of everything and getting it all arranged for and paid in advance took a HUGE load off of us, which was so great as we both have jobs where we typically do a lot of planning and project management. By taking care of that, Phil let us go on an exciting vacation where we actually got to RELAX. We took literally THOUSANDS of amazing photos, but here are just a couple fun ones I shot with my phone.
