If you arrive a little early or you end up missing a ferry, you can just park your car and walk around an enjoy the duck pond or gorgeous scenery. The ride is also very short; only about 15 minutes or so. I appreciate both of those things. In my van, which is under 22 ft, they charge $34 for the vehicle, + $7 per person and I believe they charge my card a payment fee. It comes out to somewhere between $42 and $45 every time I cross, which is worth it in my opinion for the trip. It's probably slightly cheaper in a regular car and definitely a lot more affordable if you're on foot or bike. It's always pre-organized and easy to make the ferry, but people do sometimes get turned around at the road once you enter the park. Just to stay to the right and you will be fine.

Overall, the terminal gets the job done, but there are definitely some areas that could be improved. One of the biggest issues is that the scheduled ferry times aren't always reliable. I would estimate that around 30% of the time, the ferry is running late, which can make planning around appointments, work, or other commitments difficult--especially when you rely on the ferry to get on and off the island regularly. That being said, I do appreciate that the staff generally do their best to prioritize people who need to board first and make accommodations for emergencies, particularly when someone needs to get off the island urgently. That can make a big difference for island residents. Another downside is the lack of shaded areas while waiting. During the warmer months, sitting in your car while waiting for the ferry can become incredibly hot, especially when there's no shade available. Overall, the terminal is an essential part of island life, and the staff do their best to keep things moving. However, more reliable scheduling and some sort of shaded waiting area would make the experience much better for the many people who use the ferry regularly.

We were on our way to Point Robinson Park to see the Troll but didn't know we had to take a Ferry to get there, hehe. I always wanted to see how the Ferry works with vehicle, last Ferry ride we parked our car and hopped on the Ferry this time we got to try it out, pretty cool. Made me wish Oahu had the ferry- to go to the other islands, so junk that they had to stopped the ferry! I didn't see any info. posted for the cost to bring your car on the Ferry, there wasn't any info. on Ferry schedule either. After asking attendant, we paid $24.95 per car which includes the fare for driver and $14.90 additional per adult. This is for round trip. Need to let the attendant know where you are going, for us its Vashon Island with a V!! Staff will assist you on where to go and when to go on the ferry, pretty cool experience, once the Fauntleroy Ferry runs, I loved the scenic views of Olympic mountain, just loved the experience! So cool, upon arriving we drove off to see and explore Vashon Island. The junk part is we arrived late so not much time, will start bright and early to have an entire day.

I have taken the Southworth ferry to west Seattle for over 25 years now. I have to catch the first…read moreboat and be in the front of the line to get to work on time. Over the past several years, this has not worked out for me due to training that they must be giving the people that load the ship. Most days I am guided into one of the three lanes that unload first. But depending on the whims of whoever is guiding cars some days I'm put into a side lane even though I'm here way before everybody else which puts 100 cars in front of me in West Seattle and I'm late to work. For 20 plus years, they have put five people in the middle and five people on the two side front lanes. This was consistent for 20+ years and now it's not. The staff changes constantly, which causes a lot of them to be disconnected and unfriendly. They should have a consistent way to load cars that is first come first serve. I have very politely asked the staff why they do this and the ones that do say it's in case a big semi truck loads on in Vashon which just doesn't happen ever. And even if it did, you could put 10 cars in front of it.

This would especially be a great thing to add to your itinerary if you're only in the city for a short time, as you get to see a lot of landmarks in a short time. You also get to hear about the city's history and key industries. The ride overall is pretty smooth, and my husband, who gets motion sickness, was totally fine. The boat when docked can experience a little more motion, however, so your mileage may vary. We also found it easy to get seats with good views, and the guides were easy to hear anywhere on the boat. The crew were friendly and engaging, and Angelo and the other staff were very kind to us when my husband and I mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary.

We were flying low enough to see the scenery of the area including a good look at the Seattle skyline. There were some clouds so the mountain view was not as clear as it would be on a sunny day. Didn't really matter since there was so much else to see. Shane was the pilot both flights and he is very experienced and safety conscious. He also knows a tremendous amount about the area. We got stuck in Seattle and missed our original transportation by car and ferry but Friday Harbor Seaplanes came to our rescue. Michelle was absolutely amazing and got us booked on the first flight out the following morning so we didn't waste another moment of our trip. She arranged a shuttle to pick us up at the hotel we booked which was also quite the task as many hotels were completely booked up but we finally found one and Friday Harbor Seaplanes accommodated us and got us to the airport and flew us in to Orcas Island. I was really impressed by our pilot and how well he flew the plane. I was a bit nervous and I tend to get motion sickness and he made the flight very enjoyable and even checked in with me during the flight to see how I was feeling. I felt he took slight turns a bit more slow and careful with me in mind and it was very appreciated. My friend also had her baggage delayed by Delta Airlines for 2 days and Michelle was so kind to try and help us by arranging for the airport to deliver the luggage to them so they could bring it to the Friday Harbor dock on one of their daily flights. Unfortunately Delta was being lame and they wouldn't do it, but the fact that Friday Harbor Seaplanes was willing to help us went above and beyond our expectations. What amazing customer service! I hope to one day visit the islands again and without a doubt I will use Friday Harbor Seaplanes again. They treated us like family!! Thank you! I wholeheartedly recommend this business. They are all great people and do an excellent job!

Wow, our wine tour couldn't have been better with Mark leading the way! He was incredibly friendly…read moreand knowledgeable about the island, which makes sense since he's was born and raised there. The wine tasting was also enjoyable - all 3 wineries made a point to have the owner say hello and welcome us and it was fun to learn about Washington wine and compare it to the usual California wine we typically enjoy. And to top it off the catered dinner was great! We got to linger and enjoy each stop and then got dropped off very close to the ferry so we could head home. What a great time that we will be sure to recommend to others who are visiting Seattle!
