I'm new to Washington, so I had a little anxiety about this since I didn't know what I was doing. All I knew from our Yelp manager was to get there early because a ferry was involved, and that meant waiting to board a ship. So what I did was plug the address to the event location into the GPS and it led us straight to the pay booth. You will pay about $20 for your car to get on the ferry and $6 per person in the vehicle. That price is for a round trip fee. Driving on, we saw people parked on the right side and we assumed this is where we wait to load the boat. There were four lanes to load, but they fill up from right to left which helped to ensure a first come first serve order to the proceedings. Some people got out of their cars and walked their dogs around the parking lot. That was fine because it was easy to see where the ferry was on the water so you wouldn't have to scramble back to load. It took the ferry quite a while to return. We found out later that it was because there were a few large delivery trucks on board, so it might have been dicey loading them. We got on board and like all the tourists, and the deck hands showed us which line to get into (I realized that they can't just let you load by filling up the lines because the weight has to be evenly distributed on the boat, even during the load, so don't worry that someone is going to be able to get off the boat in front of you when they were originally behind you- the crew knows what they're doing). We then got out of the car and headed to the observation deck for the view. The locals stayed in their cars, knowing that this would be a quick ride on and off. As soon as we docked, the deck hands sorted us out and directed who got to leave first. From there it was follow the GPS to your destination. You can ride the ferry as just a passenger but I'm so grateful we took our car. It looks like if you're waiting for an Uber, you'll be waiting for awhile, so having a car is necessary to get around the island.

We were on our way to Point Robinson Park to see the Troll but didn't know we had to take a Ferry to get there, hehe. Even though it was later during the day, I told the other half lets do it, lets go on the Ferry!! hehe. I always wanted to see how the Ferry works with vehicle, last Ferry ride we parked our car and hopped on the Ferry this time we got to try it out, pretty cool. Made me wish Oahu had the ferry- to go to the other islands, so junk that they had to stopped the ferry! I didn't see any info. posted for the cost to bring your car on the Ferry, there wasn't any info. on Ferry schedule either. After asking attendant, we paid $24.95 per car which includes the fare for driver and $14.90 additional per adult. This is for round trip. Need to let the attendant know where you are going, for us its Vashon Island with a V!! Staff will assist you on where to go and when to go on the ferry, pretty cool experience, once the Fauntleroy Ferry runs, I loved the scenic views of Olympic mountain, just loved the experience! So cool, upon arriving we drove off to see and explore Vashon Island. The junk part is we arrived late so not much time, will start bright and early to have an entire day.

I would definitely recommend arriving early as the line to board can span the length of Fauntleroy St. Roundtrip tickets are reasonably priced, with adults being $6.75 pp and cars being $29.55 (price also includes driver). You are directed to a lane after purchasing your tickets, which you will stay in as it leads aboard to the ferry. There are also workers who will direct you in case you get confused. I thought it was a very cool experience and loved that you could turn your car off and go upstairs to the deck and take in the views. The ferry ride is pretty short-- about 20 minutes or so and there are restrooms, board games, and concessions available. I picked up some hummus and pretzels for $6.52. PS- The ferry terminal has two destinations; Vashon and Soundworth. Make sure you go to the right lane!!!

We ended up really enjoying the tour and would highly recommend to visitors. This would especially be a great thing to add to your itinerary if you're only in the city for a short time, as you get to see a lot of landmarks in a short time. You also get to hear about the city's history and key industries. The ride overall is pretty smooth, and my husband, who gets motion sickness, was totally fine. The boat when docked can experience a little more motion, however, so your mileage may vary. We also found it easy to get seats with good views, and the guides were easy to hear anywhere on the boat. The crew were friendly and engaging, and Angelo and the other staff were very kind to us when my husband and I mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary.

The check-in and onboarding process was super easy. The ship promptly left dock at designated time. The top deck had open view. The second level had enclosed area with glass window views. Also both ends were open to guests as well. From start to end, the staff member did an amazing job of narrating many aspects of the views from the deck. A lot of it was about the downtown Seattle buildings, Space Needle, buildings and parks by the shore, the sea ports and many other cool facts along the way. I throughly enjoyed the hour long tour. The weather was also fantastic to take stunning pictures of the downtown, the mountains and the port. They also had a bar in second level where they served alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, pop corn and some small snacks. Prices were decent for it being a tourist activity. We liked both popcorn and the strawberry lemonade.

We got stuck in Seattle and missed our original transportation by car and ferry but Friday Harbor Seaplanes came to our rescue. Michelle was absolutely amazing and got us booked on the first flight out the following morning so we didn't waste another moment of our trip. She arranged a shuttle to pick us up at the hotel we booked which was also quite the task as many hotels were completely booked up but we finally found one and Friday Harbor Seaplanes accommodated us and got us to the airport and flew us in to Orcas Island. I was really impressed by our pilot and how well he flew the plane. I was a bit nervous and I tend to get motion sickness and he made the flight very enjoyable and even checked in with me during the flight to see how I was feeling. I felt he took slight turns a bit more slow and careful with me in mind and it was very appreciated. My friend also had her baggage delayed by Delta Airlines for 2 days and Michelle was so kind to try and help us by arranging for the airport to deliver the luggage to them so they could bring it to the Friday Harbor dock on one of their daily flights. Unfortunately Delta was being lame and they wouldn't do it, but the fact that Friday Harbor Seaplanes was willing to help us went above and beyond our expectations. What amazing customer service! I hope to one day visit the islands again and without a doubt I will use Friday Harbor Seaplanes again. They treated us like family!! Thank you! I wholeheartedly recommend this business. They are all great people and do an excellent job!

We were flying low enough to see the scenery of the area including a good look at the Seattle skyline. There were some clouds so the mountain view was not as clear as it would be on a sunny day. Didn't really matter since there was so much else to see. Shane was the pilot both flights and he is very experienced and safety conscious. He also knows a tremendous amount about the area. That was an added bonus. Highly recommend this method of travel!
