We had Jon AKA Seattle Tub Guy come to refinish and "reglaze" our tub as is listed on his Web site. I was impressed with all the 5*reviews & photos he has of Bright & Shiny tubs listed on his web site so kinda Expected we would receive the same result as the other reviews on here... NOT SO MUCH!!! Almost immediately after jon left it was apparent that our tub looked nothing like what he has listed on his website. Our tub looked flat and Matt and discolored like it was dingy as if it had been sprayed with some kind of primer but no gloss ... The inside of my tub no longer matched the outside as he did not touch the outside saying it was not needed. Though on the inside there were sections that were rough like sandpaper & it now had a stupid plastic matt glued on to the base that he up sold us for 75$ claiming it would help with drainage. When I called to inquire about the guarantee and the warranty it became a very apparent that he had absolutely no desire to return and told us that our tub should have just been replaced but this came after he had originally agreed to do the job on our tub to the tune of almost $800 only having warned us prior to doing the work that there was a lo spot that may collect water and would need us to shammy it out after showering... I pretty much had to demand that he come back out and take a look at the work that he left us with after going around with him for 45 minutes in what was one of the most surreal & unprofessional conversations I've ever had & only after I mentioned leaving a review of our experience did he finally agree to return and take a look at his poor work but warned me that there was probably not much that he could do though on the day of the redo it was obvious to me he had no intention on redoing the tub but rather just marched in ready to sand down a few spots and maybe touch them up IDK. But when I asked him if he was going to redo the entire thing he said No he was not. So I then told my husband we would need to discuss having to hire somebody else who would come and do the tub correctly.. of which upset John immensely and he abruptly stood up ripped out the Matt that he had put in our tub slapped a check on our vanity and stormed out of our house mumbling how he knows he does "good work".. what ever that means ?!? In reality He did such a horrible job on our tub that we had to immediately hire someone else to come out and redo the entire tub.. luckily we were able to get someone else out to our house to give us an estimate within 3 days & They had no problem effectively fixing up our tub and leaving it looking as good as the photos that jon has posted on his Web site... And the entire job cost $800 and that included them having to remove John's crappy product and with putting in a textured base at no extra cost. All of this After 3 week's of dealing with Jon's BS run around... In short I say don't waste your time /energy/Sanity on the Seattle tub guy but rather just go straight for someone who can provide a miracle method to begin with, you will not regret it! read more

Nic came to repair a hole in my one-piece fiberglass bathtub/shower combination. I live in a fourth-floor condo unit and was very concerned that the repair be thorough enough that it would prevent any leaks into the unit below mine (which I would be liable for). The staff were very flexible and cheerfully worked quickly to find a time that would work around my demanding schedule. Nic came at the scheduled time and thoroughly and patiently explained everything he would be doing and why. When he finished, he showed me the the tub repair and I was absolutely amazed. Previously there had been a gaping hole, but it had been filled perfectly and even though I examined the tub closely, I could not at all find exactly where the hole had been. Long review: The paint started to peel off my bathtub and after having tenants in the unit for 14 months, the tub was in terrible shape - large sections of peeled paint, nasty discoloration, overall looked like something terrible happened in it (someone said it was like what you'd see in a horror film). I was on a tight timeline between tenants and someone in a real estate Facebook group recommended this company. I filled out a form on their website and Laura followed up 9 minutes later!! I sent a couple of photos and she emailed back with a quote within minutes. This was my first time having a tub refinished so I had 0 knowledge, and Laura was patient in answering all my questions and concerns - and I mean INCREDIBLY patient (our email chain had 20+ emails by the time Alex came out for the actual job, I applaud them for still wanting my business...). Alex called ahead on the day of the appointment to give me a 30 minutes heads up re: his arrival time. Alex communicated clearly and showed up on time. My bathroom remodel contractors trashed my existing tub while installing new tile: 2 dozen nicks and scratches and puddles of adhesive/acetone damage bonded to the acrylic surface. After reading all the glowing reviews for the Seattle Bathtub Guy, we thought we had found a good option and had them re-glaze our tub. After 9 months of careful use by our tenants, a professional couple who fully followed the care instructions, the tub started to peel. We contacted Seattle Bathtub to fix the peeling, per their warranty, but they refused, and offered to fix the issue for $295, but why would we have to pay for this when the original job had such a poor result. The warranty should cover the work itself, not just accidental damage, if the care instructions were followed, which they were. Very disappointing!! read more

We were remodeling our bathroom and we needed to make our yellow bathtub white...the Seattle Bathtub Guy came through in a big way! They did a fantastic job, however, my knuckle head husband decided to put some masking tape along the edge of the tub to protect it from some tile work he was doing. When he removed the tape, the new white tub glaze came off with it! It ended up being no big deal because SBG = good people! They came back out and fixed our issue free of charge! I just had my tub refinished with this company. There was good communication with them, the guys that came out were professional and the results were fantastic. One thing that might help in small spaces, for customers with pets, be sure to let us know we need to find a place for a pet, as well as the consumer, to avoid the fumes. In a large house with a basement for instance, shutting them off in another room downstairs might be adequate. I had no one in my apartment building who could take my cat for a few hours. I found out the day of the tub refinishing, so I had to make some quick plans to remove my kitty. It worked out, but having a few days or a week to make plans for my cat would have been helpful. Being a new homeowner and recent transplant to Seattle from Chicago, I went to Yelp to find a good person to refinish an old peeling 80's tub. Jon is amazing and very knowledgeable. He did an awesome job at refinishing my old 80's tub. It looks like brand new! Jon went above and beyond by stopping back over 2 days later when I noticed I had water on the floor by the tub. He figured it was caused by water splashing down the grout and he was correct, but he took time to rule out all other possible issues before showing me that his theory was correct. Jon let me know it needed a simple fix of installing a guard. I was wowed when he reached into his bag and pulled out an opened tub of caulk and gave it to me with instructions on how to make a better seal than what a store kit would do by using the caulk he gave me. So my bf's tub had a crack that I thought was definitely beyond repair. It was a crack about a foot long and it was clear that something was wrong with its installation because he lives in a newish condo and is the first person to actually live in it. It looked like whatever is supposed to support the tub underneath was not there so of course it cracked. And when I say cracked I mean cracked all the way through the fiberglass and you could stick a pinkie finger into the crack. He called the Seattle Bathtub guy Jon (found him just Googling Seattle and bathtub repair) and he is nothing short of awesome. Apparently he's seen this issue before where the builder (of newish condos) installs the tub without the concrete or whatever underneath actually reaching the underside of the tub. So no support. Jon worked some serious magic filling in the gap under the tub, getting new fiberglass in there, retexturing the bottom of the tub, polishing everything up and all of that. It looked better than new. Also, he's just good people. Honest, super friendly, reliable (came a bit early even), tidy, and affordable. He even gave us some tips on good tub maintenance! If you're freaking out about your tub, call him, seriously. Cost of replacing a tub, thousands. We bought our house in 2015. The tub in the master bathroom had ugly yellow stains that, no matter how much we scrubbed, never went away.
