So many great varieties of ice pops, there was also tons of different candies. Easy to find right off Cresent ave.

My wife had noticed the Sailor's Delight shop earlier in the morning, so we decided to stop in. It was really, really good. My family lived in Wisconsin for more than 20 years, most of them in the Madison area. During that time we got to really love a local favorite ice cream brand: Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream. It's definitely a premium brand and thought it was local to the Midwest only. Well...once we entered Sailor's Delight, signs proudly proclaimed that they served Chocolate Shoppe, shipped directly from the plant in Madison. This made my wife immediately look for her favorite flavor: Zanzibar. It's a chocolate ice cream, blending 3 types of cocoa, to produce a very rich but bingeable ice cream. One scoop was priced at $7.50 in a cup, with each additional scoop being $2.25. So I added one of my favorite flavors, mint chocolate chip, to pay for a two scooper. And in Wisconsin tradition, one scoop really means two...our attendant took a regular size ice cream scoop and plunged it in each container to grab two scoops of each. We ate it outside. The ice cream was as good as I remember, and alternating between mint chocolate chip and the Zanzibar was marvelous. We sat down on the edge of the fountain right outside, doing a little people watching while enjoying the weather. It makes me smile thinking about it. I was curious if there were other places around where we live that serves Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream, and OMG Burgers and More seems to do so. Guess where I am going, the next chance I get...

My iced mocha was decent, while the mango smoothie was refreshing and definitely hit the spot on a hot day. That said, I paid about $20 (including tip) for the two drinks, which felt a bit steep for what we received. The cafe itself is small, with just enough room inside to place your order and a small self-serve station for straws and napkins. After ordering, the staff directs everyone to wait outside until your name is called at the pickup window. All of the seating is outdoors, and there isn't much shade, so on the extremely hot day we visited, it definitely wasn't a place we wanted to linger. We grabbed our drinks and were on our way pretty quickly. Unfortunately, the service has been consistently disappointing both times I've visited. I understand that summer is a busy season and the staff are trying to keep the line moving, but the interactions came across as rushed and, at times, borderline rude. During my first visit, I asked to have my drink remade, and while they did remake it, the attitude I received made me feel like I was inconveniencing them just by asking. It was uncomfortable enough that I felt bad for speaking up, which was disappointing, especially considering the satisfaction guarantee advertised on the menu. Overall, I understand why this place stays busy; it's a well-known coffee stop in Catalina, but between the average drinks, high prices, and underwhelming service, I'll probably check out a different cafe the next time I'm back.

The price is a little steep for a single scoop, so we decided to order the sampler instead, which was only a few dollars more. It comes with three small scoops, but I actually thought the portions were pretty generous and perfect for sharing between two people. Since they don't offer samples, we went with flavors that sounded the most appealing to us: Cookies & Cream, Toasted Almond Coconut, and Triple Chocolate. Thankfully, all three were delicious, and it was hard to pick a favorite! The ice cream melted pretty quickly in the hot weather, but that's to be expected and didn't take away from how much we enjoyed it. The service was straightforward; nothing particularly memorable, but efficient. The shop itself is small with no indoor seating, and it filled up quickly during the busy time we visited, so it's more of a grab-your-treat-and-go kind of place. Overall, I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area. The quality of the ice cream makes it well worth the visit!

Scoops is super clean, serves gelato, ice cream, soft serve, crepes, and Starbucks. My niece ordered a single scoop of the Chocolate Nutella hazelnut in a cake cone for $8. The prices have gone up since the last Yelpie posted 23 days earlier. The gelato was good, overly sweet for my taste, but the bits of hazelnut gave it a good texture and my niece was in heaven. No shop on the island that I went into offers samples which is strange. The Scoops employee said if we don't like the flavor, she would discard and give us something else. There's no seating inside but it's nice and cool to escape the heat.
