Giving this place 4 stars because they had soo many flavors here. Way more than you would get at a typical taffy store. For example they had dill pickle and chili mango. I believe it's around 8.99$ a pound. It does smell kinda bad in here and isn't the most clean. They do give you coupons when you spin the wheel which is fun. Employees are nice.

This is always a must do when we go to Seaside. They have so many different types of candy, chocolates, and ice cream that you'll find something for everybody. My favorite thing about stopping here is that they have sooo many types of ice cream, including some sugar-free options. They are still reasonably priced when every other ice cream shop has raised their prices. You can still get 1 good sized scoop of your favorite ice cream for $2.

Entrance inside a courtyard (was already kinda dirty)

We were super excited to check this place out bc of their advertising over something like 150 or more flavors. This store was one of our main reasons for visiting the little town area. Unfortunately, we were immediately put-off before we even got inside the door! It's inside a weird courtyard off the main drag that was kinda dirty. The store seems really cramped and they aren't limiting capacity so it was packed. But the worst of it was how utterly filthy it was. The bins looked like they hadn't been cleaned since who knows when, with bits of taffy and other unknown substances smeared and dust and open candies. Also, every piece we picked up to purchase was hard as a rock, so obviously not fresh. We got frustrated and gave up. It just wasn't worth it bc there are so many other spots with clean bins and fresh taffy. Sad.

Oodles of taffy to chose from

I thought that once our kids were gone, we wouldn't get sucked into this store. WRONG! We couldn't help ourselves, with delicious Tillamook ice cream and 170 flavors of salt-water taffy to eat on the drive home. The taffy is soft and creamy, and you can't ask for a better selection! They also happily hand out samples of fudge. I'm a sucker for caramel corn. Theirs is tasty and well coated, but the occasional kernel was discouraging. I wish they took the time to sort those out. The floor isn't the cleanest, but hopefully the kitchen is.

Late to review, an old check in I am following up on, so I might need a refresher in the means of a bag o gummies! I swear I reviewed this place... Now it is a good place, it is a fine place, it is a candy place... Did anything stand out, not so much... The aisles were well stocked, I don't think we had places in my area like this when I was a kid... Now I bring my kids here they tire themselves out asking if they "can have it", the followed by asking, "what is it?" Grabbed some chocolates for the adults, gummies and crunchies for the kids, and I think we made out under 5 bucks with enough candy to fuel our walk to the coffee shop down the street. Staff was nice and didn't seem irritated that we were in there for 10 minutes while we shopped for our bag of confections. Come get your sugar kids...

Taffy arrived completely opposite of how I requested it packed and very very soft and squishy from sitting for hours in the Texas heat.

Spun the wheel and won popcorn but they said it didn't count? Also super expensive, way cheaper to buy the candy at a grocery store.

And for me, walking straight into Phillips Candies like a man fulfilling a sacred coastal tradition. This place has been around since 1897 and is actually the oldest continually operating business in Seaside, which honestly makes perfect sense the second you walk through the doors. First off, I absolutely love that they carry sugar free chocolates that actually taste good. That alone deserves applause. Then you add in the giant selection of candy, the homemade treats, the popcorn, the chocolate, the old school charm, and suddenly you realize you've been wandering around the store for forty five minutes carrying six pounds of snacks you absolutely did not plan on buying. I am a complete sucker for the white cheddar popcorn and the cheese popcorn. Throw in some Laffy Taffy and now we're talking about a full blown Seaside survival kit. Every single trip to the coast, I stop here and "accidentally" leave with enough candy to supply a small movie theater. The store itself is beautiful too. Bright, nostalgic, cozy, and full of that classic beach town energy that makes you happy just being there. It sits right near all the fun downtown, close to the arcade action and the heart of Seaside, so stopping in feels like part of the experience. The customer service is always fantastic, warm, welcoming, and patient with people like me who spend fifteen minutes debating popcorn flavors like it's a life decision. And somehow, even with the quality, it still feels like you get a good deal. Chocolates, candies, caramel corn, saltwater taffy, coffee drinks, sweet treats everywhere you look. No trip to the Oregon Coast feels complete without walking out of this place carrying a bag that's way heavier than you intended. Five stars all day long.

Also they have merch, primarily the type of keychains and necklaces that have your name on them, and also a surprising amount of dog-related merch, including a bone-shaped dog toy and some cute signage. It was a busy place, and keeps later hours than the salt water taffy place down the block, lucky for me. It's a fairly large store with all kinds of sweets and ice cream. I got a bag of taffy for my mom and then also one as a gift, just an assortment I picked out. From the large selection (I think at least 50 flavors). I also got some fudge (my mom's got a sweet tooth!) for our group of nine visiting to share. They had divinity, an old-fashioned confection of which my mother is quite fond so I picked up some of that, as well as some dark chocolate sea salt and some rocky road. They give free samples and I got a taste of the dark chocolate sea salt--heavenly. I only interacted with one staff member but she was helpful. The parking is street only.

Every coastal town has the obligatory shop(s) filled with all things beachy - shells, mermaids, sea…read moreturtles, starfish, signs with slogans, lighthouses - but few rise above the level of cheap & tacky. Shorelines NW manages to be a touristy shop while providing a much better customer experience. The store is very large and well lit, the aisles are wide so you can wander and linger without feeling like you are stuck in an elevator with tons of people. Items are organized so if you aren't interested in children's toys you don't even have to walk to that area of the store. Interested in shells? Against the side wall are bins filled with shells of various shapes, types and colors. There is plenty of room to take it all in and make your selections. My grandmother always collected small shells and made jewelry with them so I spent a lot of time in this area and was happy to have the section all to myself! Of course they have the obligatory tie-dye which somehow has become synonymous with the beach, but their offerings were a step above other tie dye sweatshirts I've seen. The light blue & white was particularly nice, subtle, not too in your face. Mermaids and the beach also go hand & hand and at Shoreline, there are Mermaids of every skin tone and hair color so little girls can see themselves. Well done! They have a nice selection of affordable fashion jewelry, some in sterling, and of course many feature shells, sand dollars, flip-flops and other beachy items. Even though I'm not a tourist, I enjoy walking through the shop and looking at all of the offerings, often making a purchase.
