I found Sarah Jo's caramels originally at a candy shoppe in Newport, Oregon - instantly fell in love!! My mom's name is Sarah Jo and she passed away in 2020. She loved caramels and would use them to make homemade caramel popcorn quite often when I was a kid. My favorite Halloween snack was her caramel popcorn balls! Finally found this place that makes the most amazing caramels. The current address on Yelp took us to a private home so we called the business and confirmed the correct address is 36315 Highway 101 N in Nehalem. We were welcomed by the nice gentleman who walked us through his products. We picked up a couple peanut brittles (so good and won't break your teeth!) and got the big flattened caramels ready to wrap an apple. We will definitely be back for more! PS. After breakfast across the parking lot, we noticed this candy store was opened. In we went ... all four of us and we had to make a few purchases. We loved the chocolate fudge and the peanut butter fudge. Both were delicious. They also had some peanut butter brittle which our friends purchased. The fudge was soft and just about perfect. Soft, chewy just the right chewiness of a taffy - I found these little pillows at the Portland airport in a small cafe. I bought two and and was instantly addicted! We found more at the Tillamook creamery and I wanted to buy the entire jar but only bought five and slowly chewed through these caramels! The best melt in your mouth butter cream caramels I have ever had in my life!!! Went by one day while staying in Manzanita for Spring Break, store said Open but no one was there. There was a small sign on the door with a number, I called and the woman stated that she was near Astoria delivering caramels but to come by the following day around 10. I did, I bought half a box from the gentleman inside. And he hooked me up with a few "extra". OMG! I could have eaten the whole lot myself. Unfortunately I have boys who were with me and kept me in check by keeping tabs on my intake by demanding that they be maintained with a caramel for everyone I ate. A great find on our trip to Manzanita on the Oregon coast. My husband happened to buy some caramels at a local grocery and loved it and asked about it. Found out that it was made locally in Nehalam. It is a small place with the most amazing peanut brittle (which I love) and melt in your mouth caramel. They also had chocolate fudge and peanut fudge. read more

We LOVE Sarah Jo's caramels! Each year we get out to Manzanita, Oregon and every year we bring back a box of caramels to share at home.
