Our server was exceptionally sweet and pleasant, and gave us a stellar wine recommendation to pair with our octopus, skate, and sablefish. We shared a dessert of mascarpone ice cream with huckleberry compote, OH MY GOD...... delicious! Great, superiorly "unfussy" experience! We wore jeans and sneakers in, but I had to change into sweats as soon as we were done walking back to our hotel. I CANNOT WAIT to come back! Delicious.... (I can't say that too many times here)

The servers know the menu inside and out, capably address all questions, and make wise recommendations. We tried pressed stone fruit with house made cottage cheese, arugula, heirloom tomato, and sherry vinegar. A taste of late summer's bounty! We loved chicken breast with local mushrooms, white beans, and chicken jus. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. We went wild for ling cod with sweet corn and heirloom tomato over sweet corn purée. The brown butter crème brûlée with fresh peaches was a lovely ending. The wine-by-the glass selection is high quality. Large enough to have really great options but small enough for the size of dining room. A fabulous place to go for a top-notch meal without pretension. Looking forward to returning for the tasting menu!

They have 2 floors, a bar on each floor, an outdoor courtyard area, and a barn area in the back with two bars and a stage. We caught a live show and thoroughly enjoyed it before driving back home to Seattle. We also hung out in the courtyard, enjoying the large caged wood fireplace, before heading to the barn for the live show. The service was excellent, maybe because they weren't too busy that day, and we entered upstairs, not downstairs, since street parking wraps around the building and, depending on where you park, you'll enter at different parts of the brewery/restaurant/warehouse. We were seated right away and got seats near the windows to enjoy the sunset. We ordered: Shrimpy Bread-this was tasty, but the teeny tiny frozen shrimp they use were not it. I'm thinking even normal-sized shrimp chopped up really small would have been tastier, but also, if you live for that shrimp flavor, this will be your jam. For me, the lemon flavor stood out, and combined with the cheese, it made it so worth it. Yum. Wood-fired pizza-half almighty and half carousel - this was omg, chef's kiss, perfect to share between the two of us. If we lived in Astoria, we could see ourselves coming in for this combo to take home. Really liked the decor. It felt very brew house, with wood throughout and lots of windows for ocean and neighborhood views from up on the hill. Also noticed folks from all walks of life here, families, couples, tourists, locals. It was a nice, casual vibe. We'll be back next time we're in the area :)

Needless to say, two pints down and one pizza later, we were well satisfied. We ordered smaller pizza - a peperoni combo -and added mushrooms to it. It came out quickly, hot, and delicious! I'd definitely give this spot a go if you are in the area looking for beer, food, and/or atmosphere!

I have many benchmarks for what I consider to be "the best restaurant" around here. Community. Great ambiance with a friendly, easy, warm and welcoming vibe. Delicious and thoughtfully prepared, uncomplicated food. Yes, any good cook can throw together blitzed artichoke hearts and slap a thin slice of mortadella on top and call it an appetizer. I can do that. But I want to order that exact appetizer at Fede, along with the preserved tomato and ricotta crostini, and I want that perfect-ass arugula salad with heavy shards of Parmesan and the lemony vinaigrette, without having to do the heavy lifting/rinsing/prep at home. I want the warm welcome from the staff. I love the river view while I'm sipping a Negroni. I love Faith, the down-to-earth owner. I love that this place is so busy in a small coastal town, that you need to put your name on a list to wait for a table. I love that malfalde dish, rife with pecorino and black pepper tangled up in scraggly pasta shreds. I love that everyone loves that they have deviled eggs as an appetizer. I love that I have a good friend whom when she's dining at Fede, and when she sees someone she knows, she sends the much-coveted deviled eggs to their table as a joke/you're welcome gag. Fede, you're wonderful. Thanks for being here.

I didn't get anyone's name, but when we put my name in and came back at our call time, we walked in and the woman, walking through the restaurant, said, "Hey, Mindy." A nice touch. Our server was also just right. I got the Negroni melone because I'm a sucker for Negronis. It was decent, though it would have been much better with a gentleman's cube. The hubs got a blood orange cocktail that was really yummy. We started with the ricotta and preserved tomato crostini, which was excellent! Hubs ordered the sablefish and I ordered the ravioli with chard. Both were fantastic! The sablefish was exactly, perfectly cooked. It had skin on, but easy to eat without if you're not into that. Ah, so good! The ravioli was so delish! The only thing missing was a sip of limoncello at the end of the meal, which you'd receive in Italy, but otherwise deliziosa!

It was absolutely outstanding! Every ingredient felt incredibly fresh and vibrant. The rich flavors of the grilled tempeh and the perfect tang of the sauerkraut paired beautifully with the hearty, fresh-baked rye. The service was also wonderful and incredibly thoughtful--they noticed we were sharing and kindly split the sandwich into two separate plates for us before bringing it out, which we truly appreciated. The only downside was the iced tea, which unfortunately tasted quite watered down and lacked flavor. Aside from that, it's a fantastic spot. If you're exploring the historic streets of Astoria and looking for high-quality, conscious food, this place is definitely worth a visit!

Their pastry section has so many options that it was hard to choose (BUT I AM ALWAYS UP FOR THE TASK!)... I landed on the cinnamon and cardamom morning bun. It was more dense than I was expecting, which isn't a bad thing at all, just an observation. It was crispy on the outside with a soft and sweet inside; it was so delicious. The outside was almost crystallised with the cinnamon and cardamom (So. Dang. Good). We got an americano and a chai tea with almond milk. The coffee was fine but the chai wasn't my favorite. Okay quality but it was more a chai tea with milk than a chai latte that I was thinking it would be. You can also buy something from the "pay it forward" menu so that all members of the community can access this yummy cafe, regardless of ability to pay. Loved seeing that! There is a large breakfast menu, too, in addition to the pastries... they had breakfast tacos, sandwiches, and more! They also sell bagels and bread loafs.

Because we were driving through on our road trip, we decided to make a stop here for a late lunch this last Tuesday afternoon, around 2:15 pm. After we parked, we walked inside and headed towards the salad bar/ hot bar food area. After looking around (there is also a counter that you can order made to order sandwiches and burritos), I ended up deciding to purchase the following: Peanut Chicken Sesame Noodle Salad, $8.99- This was quite a massive portion so I only ended up eating about 1/3 of it and then had the rest over the next few days (I ended up mixing it with some chopped cucumbers and tomatoes that I had to make a large salad). I loved the peanut sesame dressing and noodles in this salad but wished there was more chicken. Mayak Egg Noodle Bowl, $8.99- My husband picked this salad for himself but I didn't have any. He thought it was good and appreciated something fresh, as his bowl had shredded cabbage, like my salad, and cucumbers and shredded carrots. Pumpkin Pie, $6.99- My husband saw this small pumpkin pie and decided to get it because he is such a big fan of it. I actually don't like pumpkin as much as when I was much younger. But I did like this pie and thought the flavors were well balanced, not too overly sweet. ---------------------------------------- (Total= $24.97) I really appreciated that the little dining area (there is also an outdoor dining area as well but because it had rained previously, we opted to sit inside) had plastic bowls and plates available for you to put your food in. This was helpful for me to be able to thoroughly mix my noodle salad since the dressing was mostly on the bottom. Then after I mixed it, I just put it back in the plastic container and only left about 1/3 of the salad in my bowl to eat. If I lived in this area, I would definitely be a regularly of this market (specifically for the prepared food area).
