Be sure you are booking a room, the hostel is male or female, 4 to a room. Our room was a double, 2 double beds and a good sized shower, sink, toilet in the en suite bathroom. We did a spontaneous trip to KW, so we were thrilled to find a place, and under 400 a night is not bad for high season! We encountered no issues, and check in and check were quick and painless. (Lol). The outdoor "kitchen" is a full size fridge, a grill, a counter and lots and lots of utensils. This place is a 2 minute walk to Duval (quiet end) and even closer to a few restaurants, a bar and a liquor store, so that makes it get more points. It's about 5 blocks to Higgs beach, the biggest public beach in KW, which has a long pier.

This does not look like it did on the website. Instead, it's literally a big whole in the ground!

This does not look like it did on the website. Instead, it's literally a big whole in the ground. They dug up the entire common area, and it is replaced with rubble, a bulldozer, and heavy excavation! You will be confined to your room. The Internet service is below one bar, so even though the WiFi connects, web pages don't load. I've tried many spots throughout the property, with no prevail. I was told over the phone that bike rentals were $20 the first day and $10 daily afterward. I got there, and they charged $13 daily after your initial $20. This place is a headache and my trip was ruined. I have mobility issues and am wheelchair bound. The website said it was handicapp accessible. It is NOT. The bathroom doors and shower room doors aren't wide enough for a wheelchair. DO NOT GO HERE, especially if you want a relaxing vacation in the Florida Keys. Instead, you are staying on an active construction site without any sort of peace.

I mean no disrespect by a 3 star review. This is by far the cheapest place to stay in Key West so I hope they don't improve it too much because then they could charge more. The Good: Location A+. Rent a bike from the front desk to get anywhere on the island within 10 minutes. Friendly and helpful staff. Downsides: Only one bathroom for a 6 bunk and 4 bunk female room to share. Often had to wait for the shower. Nowhere to put your luggage. There are lockers to rent outside of the room but who wants to exit their room to get their clothes? I put my bag at the foot of my mattress so couldn't stretch out completely.

Good customer service and very friendly people. room wasn't bad but the bathroom was way too small.... Takes time for water to get hot. The bathroom was the only thing I didn't like. For the price, it could be better or they should put the price down. Other than that it wasn't a bad place

Check-in was busy when we arrived, but the staff remained friendly, patient, and accommodating. We've stayed here several times over the years, including during the renovations, so we've seen the resort through all its phases. It's wonderful to see everything almost completed, and the property looks great. Throughout every visit, the staff has always gone above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. One thing we've learned is that if you have a special request, just ask , they're happy to help whenever they can. Our two-bedroom suite was perfect for our family. We love the layout and found it incredibly comfortable. While many guests prefer the ocean-view rooms, we actually enjoy them, even with the occasional cruise ship in the harbor. Besides, you're in Key West! Take a walk and explore, you'll find gorgeous ocean views all around the island. The location truly couldn't be better. You're within walking distance of Duval Street, Mallory Square, great restaurants, shopping, and so many Key West attractions. We also had dinner at the newly decorated Lolita's Coastal Cocina, and it was absolutely delicious. A special thank you to Damir K., who has been wonderful throughout our stay. His hospitality, along with the rest of the staff, is one of the many reasons we keep coming back. Keep up the great work, Opal Key...we're already looking forward to our next visit!

Also watch out for the valet guy. I rolled down my car window to find out where I should leave me car while checking in and despite being less than 10 feet away from me, he ignored me and walked away. After I checked in and tried to get my kiddos situated in the lobby with our luggage so I could go self-park the car I finally got his attention by him calling out "hey, can you move your car?" To which I replied "As soon as I'm done doing what I'm doing. And for the record, I tried to ask you where to park and you ignored me and walked away so... sorry, not sorry?"

They had fresh water and a welcome sangria as I checked in. *They have daily coffee in the morning and cookies and iced tea in the afternoon. The only thing missing is a happy hour with wine and cheese! I spent a lot of time trying to find the right room (online). Without being there, it was hard to choose. I chose a poolside room (shared balcony). I was given room 3 and I loved it. :) There is plenty of room for two people. The bed was so comfy and the pillows were perfect. They have complimentary water (2 bottles) in your room. They have a mini fridge and options to buy snacks and liquor. They have fruit infused water next to the pool daily. You will stay hydrated. There is an honor bar next to the water; which has a few pricy options for a beer or other canned beverages. I did see plenty of people have their own drinks poolside. So, outside drinks are allowed at the pool...but no glass. They have two pools. I preferred the pool towards the back. There are lush beautiful plants all around you and you'll often see little lizards scurrying by the pool. They did not have a late checkout for my room but they were nice enough to hold my bags and have use of the pool while I waited for my friends to arrive. I would stay here again but during high season, the rooms get expensive. I loved room 3 but would love to someday stay in the cute cabin looking rooms up behind the pool. They have a covered porch, sitting room m, and a large bathroom. Overall, the service was solid. The grounds of the hotel are lovely, the bed was amazing, and the pools were a lovely respite from the crowded streets and heat of the city.
