Entering through the Appliances Department from the parking lot, we were greeted by Abdul. Mrs. L checked in, he stated it would be a few minutes to see Dr. Kwan as he was wrapping up with another patient. While we waited, Mrs. L asked Abdul if he would mind taking a look at my sunglasses that were too tight. Not only did he stretch my specs, he thoroughly shared insight on the ins & outs of knowing your facial measurements, how to accommodate the wear of comfort & the 411 on ordering online. After my quick tutorial, my frame measurement is a 16/17 & my sunglasses felt a tad bit better. Dr. Kwan came out, gave Abdul an update, approached Mrs. L with a welcoming handshake & took her back to the examination room. About an hour later she called to let me know she was finished & ready to go. Once I returned Mrs. L shared how happy she was about the service that she received not only from Dr. Kwan, yet Tameka as well, as she was wonderful in assisting her with picking out her new glasses & answering all of her questions. I enjoyed watching the interaction between Mrs. L & Dr. Kwan (& the other patients present), as she stated how satisfied she was with her overall appointment & that his staff was so very helpful & kind. First came to see Dr. Kwan one year ago for my wife's first contact lens exam. After reading Yelp and Google reviews, she decided he would be her best bet-- boy, was she right! Sears Optical does not do glamorous advertisements. They're not trendy, they're not "in vogue", but they have the best optometrist I've ever worked with. After her exam, when it came to do mine, we scheduled with him right away. Dr. Kwan is a very humble and decorous man who [I believe] truly cares for each of his patients' health. He took the time to introduce himself, share his background, and spend about 5-10 minutes just asking about my background and eye health, any concerns I'd had, etc. He has a wonderful bedside manner and was able to walk me through how each test affects my prescription and how my eyes are progressing. What I liked best: he actually LISTENED to my concerns and addressed them during the exam. I have been wearing glasses since the 7th grade. I have never had a more thorough, sincere, competent and patient-oriented eye doctor, and I have been seeing eye doctors for almost my whole life ~30 years. Dr. Kwan and the Sears Optical office in Westfield Mall have always followed through and taken immediate action to ensure my satisfaction. Dr. Kwan took the time required to figure out the best contact lens prescription for my poor eyes, which have baffled other eye doctors. I called to make an appointment for my mother. Sid who answerd, was such a pleasant, very informative, a wonderful customer oriented person. When we got there we were greeted by Sid who at the moment was busy with a customer, he asked to excuse himself and introduced us to a very pleasant young lady, her name is Marie. I am so glad we decided to come here. Marie is an outstanding employee. She assisted us in getting the right pair of glasses and gave us the best price, compared to EYES, HOUR EYES, AMERICA'S BEST, LENSCRAFTERS. Her attiude was so unusually pleasant compared to employees i have come across over the years at stores. She is very informative on glasses, she took 1hr half with us without rushing us at all. One of the front desk people who handles the insurance/payment, etc was very nice and accommodating. didn't pressure or rush me at all. i had a good deal with my employers insurance and he was able to beat it. doctor kwan is very professional, took the time to answer all of my questions. there were a few customers, but they did their best to assist everyone in a timely manner. well worth the wait. i'll continue going here for exams as long as they have the same staff working there. read more

Dr. Kwan is great. We ordered glasses and contacts from the Optical after seeing Dr. Kwan. The "manager" told us the contacts would be in in 5 days and that we would get a deal by buying both the glasses and contacts at Sears. Well, yes the price he quoted was good, and we paid, but alas we paid for nothing. The contacts are still not in, and it has been over 2 weeks. We can not get a straight answer from this manager and sales staff. He and his co worker, both have given us the run around - and initially the manager tried to tell us that we were wrong about when we ordered the contacts, and that no it hadn't been a week only 3 days, EXCEPT we had the receipt. While we understand backorders and unexpected circumstances, his dishonesty is the issue for us. While we love Dr. Kwan we will NOT be purchasing again through the optical while the current staff is there. PLEASE BEFORE YOU PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THEM- CHECK CONSUMER REPORTS, We wish we had, Then we would have known that this is not an uncommon situation.- you will NOT have your glasses nor contacts in the time they promised and you will be stuck with managers and sales staff giving you the run around and outright lying to you. Dr. Stephen Kwan has been my family eye doctor for more than five years (after getting his name from Yelp). He's the best eye doctor I've had in 35 years of wearing contacts and eyeglasses. He is caring and thorough with his exams, gives good explanations and advice, and is great with my children during their exams. I already have a routine exam scheduled with Dr. Kwan at his new location and cannot recommend him highly enough. Dr. Kwan is the man. If doctors were more like him in America, I think our healthcare system would be better. He takes his time to answers ALL questions and double checks, everything. He is so soft spoken that he makes you feel comfortable and doesn't assume anything. He does his due diligence and is thorough. At my visit in March, he was running behind and my appt was pushed out a few hours. Dr. Kwan really had to go pick up his kids but gave me a complete exam and gave me the best customer service ever. Any other doctor would have just rushed out and given a half a-- exam. I have followed Dr. Kwan from Target in Greenbelt and I live in Virginia, so that just tells you that good help is hard to find and I would follow him anywhere.. and you should too. I have been going to Dr. Kwan for over 5 years. I drive 30-45 mins to see him and it is well worth it. He is a exceptional eye doctor who takes his time with you and really cares about what is best for you. This is my third trip to Sears Optical and I cannot recommend Dr Kwan highly enough. He is thoughtful, kind and sincere. Dr Kwan takes as much time as is needed to make sure that you are receiving the very best eye care. His patience is phenomenal! I so appreciate the amount of detailed testing he does to make sure my glasses fit exactly according to my needs. I made an appointment to see Dr. Kwan in a hurry, as I was moving and wanted to take advantage of my annual eye exam before changing insurance. I called at noon and they got me in at 1:20. When I arrived, two staff members (Abdul and a woman with a side shave whose name I didn't catch) greeted me and were eager to help me. After a short wait, I went in with Dr. Kwan. I have seen maybe ten eye doctors since 2002, and Dr. Kwan was the BEST I've ever met. He smiled, was extremely polite (always asking "may you remove your glasses," "may you look straight," "may you read me these words"), and obviously knew more about the way eyes work than any doctor I've seen before. Last year I saw an optometrist who said I had an astigmatism. That didn't seem right to me since I was seeing with my glasses just fine and wasn't having trouble with off-center vision. I never got glasses with that prescription because it felt off. Dr. Kwan tested me extensively for astigmatism and concluded what I thought was true--no astigmatism! I was between -2.5 and -2.75; he spent a solid 10 minutes giving me different tests and helping me make a decision for what was best for me. Same with contacts--he spent a lot of time with me deciding which type to buy. This man is a gold mine. He listens with compassion and knows his stuff. I highly recommend him to anyone with any vision issues--he's the best!!!! read more

Quite amazing what selection of eyewear Sears has now (beats the heck out of a Chevy Chase eyewear store, in which I wasted 2 hrs). And the service is impeccable -- the lenses are excellent, and the frames fit perfectly first time the woman adjusted them out of the box. Sears is the new black. read more

The primary reason I went to SEARS OPTICAL is because it is listed as one of the providers under my vision benefits, and I just happened to choose them from the list. As usual, it is very difficult on a consumer to make a transition from a provider that he or she knows for a long time to a brand new one. For that reason, I was reluctant to go to SEARS OPTICAL or any other provider for that matter. And it was my first experience with SEARS OPTICAL, and I would have to say that Marie and Anna do take the customers concerns in consideration. Long story short, I finally was able to choose two pairs of frames, which looked very nice but were not expensive name brand frames with the help of Anna. And after I came to pick up the finished products (frames + prescribed glasses), I was a little concern about choosing the identical frames for my two choices on the deal SEARS OPTICAL was running. Marie, explained to my that I could replace them if I wanted to; however, she said that if I do like the main pair so much that it would make sense sometimes to have the same frame as my backup in case I break them by accident. read more
