Sold us a washer and dryer that didn't even last us a year. Within a week of buying the washer…read moreflooded. They came out and "fixed" it but it flooded again. This happened about 4 or 5 times with them coming to "fix" it after every time. It flooded about a third of my apartment everytime and took hours to clean. The water also leaked into the apartment next to me. It always took them about a week to come out every time. After about a month of having this problem I asked for a refund or for a new set and they refused. Finally they fixed it and everything was fine for a few months until the dyer took a dump on me and stopped drying. Will not buy from Hagermans again.

I had a noisy dryer and didn't want to mess with it myself, so I set about trying to find a good…read morerepair place. I called Sears first (as it's a Kenmore appliance). For $85 they could come out and diagnose the problem and then "apply/deduct" the $85 service charge to the final bill if we had them do the repair. It just so happened they could come out the very next day sometime between 8:00am and 5:00pm. What?! Heck NO. That's not reasonable. So then I called Buttermore as they not too far away. I can't remember what their initial charge was. It was less than Sears, by a bit. However, it didn't matter. The woman who answered the phone sounded rather annoyed by my questions (like "what the service charge?"). Maybe she was coming down with a cold or just found out that she was not the winner of the Publisher's Clearinghouse. I'm sure she had her reasons for being less than amiable (or maybe that's just her general "happy" voice). The point was I was not super thrilled with my first impression. A little more internet scouring and I found a nice place in Ft. Wayne with good reviews, but we were too far out for them to come to our house. That led me to find Hagerman's (finally, it's the business you wanted to read about!). No reviews yet, so I was little worried until I remembered that this is how we chose repair places for decades. I called them and a woman answered. Maybe she was just getting *over* a cold or maybe she found a twenty dollar bill in her jacket, but she was so nice and pleasant that it made me happy I had called. Service charge was in the $40 range. I asked what kind of time window they would give me for when their expert would appear. They gave me a two hour time block. Now that's reasonable! With that I made the appointment. A few days later and I got a call around 9am from someone at Hagerman's asking a few more details about the dryer so that the right repair equipment could be packed into the truck. Also, during that call he told me that Jeff would probably be there closer to the middle of the time window. Around 10:50 I got a call saying he'd be there in about 20 minutes. Right around the predicted time, Jeff arrived. Pleasant, friendly, knowledgeable. He was willing to answer my questions. (Apparently new washers and dryers are only given about a 5 year life expectancy so hang on to your early 2000 washers and dryers! In essence, he said it's more feasible to repair those older ones than to buy new ones that don't last. Of course buying new every 5 years is not good for the Earth either, so I'm glad most of the problems can be easily repaired .) He even vacuumed out my dryer before replacing the parts and it looked and sounded as good as new. He was able to work quickly (less than half and hour and he was gone), he was there when they told me he would be, and everyone at Hagerman's was congenial. The final bill was under $130. I would definitely call them again.
