I like the service. The place is clean and cashier was friendly. The only downside is space on gas island. It was a little tight.

Downey Car Care Center was going to charge an additional $289.47 for a brake caliper that was not needed and an additional $152.10 for a brake fluid service had we replaced the caliper. While Downey Car Care Center highly recommended the caliper, Alex's Auto Repair stated they did not want us to waste a lot of money if the calipers were not the problem. Truly grateful for Alex's Auto Repair prompt responses and amazing customer service. They verified the caliper did not need to be replaced. They simply lubricated our caliper. This review is well earned by the sales rep Brian at the front desk. Calling Brian's customer…read moreservice one star is generous, to say the least. I came in today to get a quote for a check engine light related to an O2 sensor. Before coming in, I had already priced the part so I could confirm exactly what was needed. Prior to agreeing to the $200 diagnostic, I asked Brian whether any of that fee would be credited toward the repair if I moved forward. He told me that **half** would be credited, meaning $100, which I felt was fair. Based on that, I expected something close to the following: * Diagnostic: $200 ($100 credited) * Labor: $200 (install time is .9 hrs + 1 hr diagnostic) * O2 Sensor: $179 (the same OEM part costs $59.98 at any auto parts store) Brian then quoted me **$579 total**. When I asked about the previously mentioned diagnostic credit, he declined to honor it. I also asked if I could bring in my own part. That's when things really went downhill--and honestly, I wouldn't have posted this review if it weren't for what he said next. In a very belittling tone, Brian responded, *"Do you bring your own lunch to a restaurant?"* He then continued by saying the building costs $10K a month and that they're expensive because they can be. That may be true, but I'll never know--because I would never, under any circumstances, do business with someone who treats customers that way. Thanks for all your "help," Brian.

I had already purchased an OEM replacement handle from an authorized Honda parts dealer, and initially planned to have the dealership install it. However, the dealership quoted me a very high labor cost and required me to leave my car overnight due to their busy schedule. After doing some research, I found Action Auto in Cypress and spoke with Mark. From the very first phone call, Mark was friendly, professional, and transparent. Best of all, his quote was about half the price of what the dealership wanted to charge. The convenience was a huge bonus. They told me I could bring my car in anytime between 8am-5pm (and even Sundays 8am-3pm). I dropped off my car at 8:30am, and it was ready by lunchtime the same day. On top of that, they even offered a complimentary shuttle ride home--something the dealership no longer provides. The entire experience was smooth and stress-free. Mark's customer service was outstanding both over the phone and in person. The shop itself was clean and well-organized, and I noticed several repeat customers while I was there, which says a lot about their reputation. Most importantly, my door handle works perfectly now--just like when I first bought the car. I'll definitely be coming back to Action Auto for future repairs. Thank you, Mark, for making this such an easy and positive experience!

No upselling, no runaround, no "don't call us, we'll call you" and disappear. Just straight-up honest work and clear communication. If you're tired of guessing whether you can trust your mechanic, this is the spot.

After the passing of the owner, everything has changed entirely, starting first and foremost with how they treat their customers. I wasted hours waiting in the lobby, only to get the run around and no communication or ownership on their part. Not at all how this place used to be managed. When my cars check engine light came on, I called them first (of course) they said they could take a look at it and would be able to help. When I arrived, they informed me of $180 diagnostic fee, I declined as that was not what I understood on the phone and not how it has worked in the past. I asked if I could speak to the person I spoke to on the phone. They said they were at lunch. I waited for them to come back. After a long time waiting, they insisted on holding my car overnight because they wouldn't be able to get to it till tomorrow (that was never communicated either) after I got home, I received a quote for $170 diagnostic. I declined and picked up my car and won't be returning. Very unfortunate experience for a place we used to rely on heavily.

I explained that my car would not start and that AAA was towing it in. I was told to go ahead and bring it. After my car arrived, the first thing I was told was that they wouldn't even be able to look at it until Monday (it was Wednesday) and that the diagnostic fee would be $205, which would not be applied toward any repair. None of this had been mentioned during my phone call before the tow. Had I been told those details over the phone, I would have chosen a different shop before spending the time and arranging the tow. When I said I would need to take my car somewhere else, I was told they were "not a storage unit" and that I couldn't leave my disabled vehicle there. The interaction felt abrupt and lacking in empathy, especially considering I had called ahead and was following the instructions I had been given. I understand that shops get busy and that every business sets its own diagnostic fees. My disappointment wasn't about the wait or the price--it was the lack of communication before I had the vehicle towed and the way I was spoken to once I arrived. Fortunately, I ended up finding another solution for my repair, but based on my experience, I would not return.
