Food was okay but overpriced. The view of the ocean was nice but the area around the restaurant was a bit rundown. The website made it seem like it was an upscale restaurant but it had chain restaurant vibes. So many better options in nearby Newburyport!

Haddock fish tacos

Scrumptious dinner! Shrimp cocktail, lobster roll and fires, haddock ride fish tacos and a Tito's martini plus blood orange cosmo. The olive and white bread and butter also hit the spot. So delicious with a beautiful view!

I ordered the steak and fries with chimichurri and the steak was good but there was no chimichurri to be seen. If you want steak and slightly sautéed onions on top of fries this is the dish for you. Definitely disappointed. My first drink the glass had someone else's lipstick on it, the waitress was apologetic and replaced it quickly with a new martini. We had a large group and the waitress was awesome! Unfortunately the food has gone downhill especially for the price.

Crème brûlée and espresso martini

I came here for my anniversary dinner and it was amazing. We were sat next to the windows and watched the sunset with a bottle of wine. It was beautiful. Heather was our server and was lovely. She had very kind eyes. We started the night with the crab cake and bang bang shrimp. The crab cake was outrageous and the bang bang shrimp was veryyyy spicy. For entrees, we split the haddock and the scallops - instead of the potatoes both dishes come with, we subbed with mashed and lemon risotto. It was a perfect combination. We ended the night with espresso martinis and crème brûlée, both perfection. Will definitely be back again!

Best cocktails, Ube ??

Food is delish, and Service is Top notch! The Cocktails, Yummy! Above all ... is the very Best view of the ocean, with a window seat, feels like Im on a cruise ship!

Seafood casserole looks a lot better than it was. It was gross And Lobster risotto with sea scallops

Beautiful ocean views, friendly service. But when it came to the food, what an absolute disappointment. I got the baked seafood casserole and it was full of disgusting tiny bay scallops and for $40. I want real scallops not bay scallops. It was so gross. I couldn't even eat it.

Halibut with risotto

Seaglass has spectacular views. If you snag a window side table (and the windows have been cleaned), then you will be in for a treat. We've been a few times and have found service to be pleasant, but food is a bit slow coming from the kitchen. On our last visit, we were there to dine with friends and see a comedy show next door. We advised our waitress, and she assured us not to worry. Nonetheless, with a 2.5 hour dinner window, we had to rush at the end and no time for dessert. She admitted that most everybody is waiting to go to the show so the kitchen backs up. Cocktails were good, and I had the french onion soup as a starter. Classic, old school style and it was delicious. Exactly as I wanted. I went with the halibut special dinner entree and was surprised at how large a piece of fish I was given. It was cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned. The risotto side however had an unusual texture and was a bit overwhelmed with pesto. As previously mentioned there was no time for a dessert and we had to hustle for the check in order to make our show in time. This is a nice venue overall, and has a big parking lot where diners can park at no charge.

Overrated place. The view is about the only thing this place has going for it. The food is not good.

Ask the Community - Seaglass Restaurant & Lounge

Hi. Is the Seaglass a good place to take active 7 year old twins for lunch?

Not the most ideal. Many people consider the Seaglass a treat and, as such, may find energetic children to detract from their experience.

Entering I was greeted by the friendly owner who was also tending the bar. From what I saw upon entering the bar is very clean and neat. It may be because now is considered off-season, it was busy but low key & people who were there were obviously enjoying it. I decided on a table & within minutes my friends showed up. The bar does not serve food. So I stopped and got 2 pizzas for us all to share. We ordered drinks & walked up to the bar to pay. We were prepared knowing beforehand that they only take cash...so no issues with that. I did not order an alcoholic beverage... Others did & liked them very much. It seems like they are priced . moderately. My drink was a diet coke in a tall glass.. just right. So it became time to play and the nice DJ came over to explain the game and pass out cards and markers. One of my group won the first round! They brought her over a bag loaded with swag .. I don't know about you, but winning is exciting & gives an adrenaline pump - usually no matter what the prize is. So on came the 2nd round & a winner from the other side of the venue. The next and last round ended up being a coverall! We thought .. no one will win this one. She played 50 song bits & no one was winning. So she cheered us on and asked if we wanted 5 more. Otherwise without a winner the pot grows. So we said yes! And low & behold... I ended up winning! I won __ in cash!!! It was decided between us that we will definitely return : - )

The place is quaint and clean. Everyone was awesome, welcoming and fun and pleasant and made us feel like locals. The karaoke crowd was great and the bartender was awesome. During this visit, we had nicely crafted mojitos, good selection of beer and wine. The tuna poke has fresh tuna, sesame, just cut jalapeños, fresh spices and sticky rice - nicely done! They do have a host sitting parties down, but there are also standing areas, self-seating tables, and seats by the bar. The menu includes a good variety of food items, but ultimately the Baja smashburger caught my attention. We placed our order at the counter by the bar, then waited for the food to come to our table. After about 15 minutes, the food arrived. The burger was about $20 and came with the burger and chips. We were unsure if chips meany fries or actual potato chips and unfortunately, it was the latter. The smashburger was good. The patties (2) were smashed a bit, but it didn't have much of the signature crispy, caramelized crust. It came with white cheese melted onto the patties, shredded lettuce, tortilla chips, and Baja mac sauce. I wish the brioche buns were toasted and smashed with the patties on the grill but thankfully the bread was soft and tasted fresh. There was a good amount of mac sauce, to help glue everything together. To my surprise, the tortilla chips were my favorite part. They added texture and slightly more salt. I had a bite of my friends fried white fish tacos but they were a little too fishy for me. I would recommend this place for the vibes and especially for large groups looking for a place to eat and have a good time. They don't accept reservations, but it seems like people are coming in and out constantly, so tables are usually available. They do have a moderate-sized parking lot (free of charge) in the back and when we were they, they had someone ushering cars to empty spots.

We arrived just after our friends who advised they had already ordered their drinks. Our waitress arrived promptly and took our drink order and then vanished. No drinks for quite some time. A manager came over to ask if anybody had visited us, apologized for the delay, and returned with our drinks. I'm estimating it was a bit over 30 minutes or so before drinks arrived. Our waitress did return, apologized and took our food order. I wasn't so sure about ordering sushi, but glad we did. The maki we tried were very good, fresh and beautifully presented. A great start. We switched gears for our entree and went with a parpadelle bolognese. A nice generous portion that was as good as some of the Italian spots in the area. Our friends also enjoyed their dishes. Portions were generous and prices were reasonable. I would easily have given 4 stars, but the service needs improvement. You would need to plan to spend at least a couple of hours for a lunch. In our case it was not a big deal as we were enjoying time with friends, but I can understand the other negative reviews now. We do plan to return to work our way deeper into the menu, and hope they will have more staff to help with the front of the house.

Knowing the drill, we were prepared to valet the car, which is definitely a downside since it slows down the whole getting-in-and-out process. We made our way to the host stand and were greeted warmly. We asked for seating for three (husband, wife, and child) and were led to a table along the outside of the bar. It was a great window seat but definitely on the louder side. Not an issue for us, but if you're bringing someone who's hard of hearing or just doesn't like noise, consider this a heads-up. Our waitress came over to take our drink order immediately, and we placed our food order shortly after. We started with the Brussels sprouts appetizer. I ordered the Poke Bowl, my husband went for the Mac & Cheese, and our son ordered the same from the kids' menu. Drinks took a while to arrive. When the appetizer came, I noticed my utensils were sticky and asked for a new set. This took wayyyyy longer than it should have. She literally went and gathered some drinks from the bar and delivered them before getting me the utensils. The appetizer was tasty but lacked the sriracha kick we expected from the description (though I honestly preferred them this way). Our meals arrived, and I noticed mine was very small but delicious. My husband's dish was missing the chicken and prosciutto and was really dry. Our son's dish had chicken on the side (a good idea) because he didn't like the pasta, calling it "dry and weird" (his words). My husband asked for a side of cheese and the missing chicken and prosciutto. He only got the chicken and cheese (at this point, we let the prosciutto go). We ordered a second round of drinks but should have ordered them as soon as the first round arrived because the meal was pretty much done by the time we got the second round. In the end, we skipped dessert and paid the check. The lackluster personality of our waitress didn't help things. We handed in the valet tag with payment (as instructed) and still waited over 10 minutes for our car by the time we got to the parking lot. Overall, this place has promise but still needs some work before it can capitalize on the summer traffic. If they can't figure it out, I fear it won't last like many of their predecessors. Fingers crossed for them because I do think they can be wonderful!

I wouldn't want to see the results of the black light run over the whole menu either. Come on people. And then seemed surprised that we wanted to look at the drink menu. The decorations inside are great, it's all set up for Halloween but also strange was the many TVs were on but at least three didn't work and had the Direct TV logo on, three were showing children with cleft palate syndrome and how you can donate and two had old soccer games. So, points for decor but negative points for terrible tv. Next up we order- I ordered a Bloody Mary medium spice and my husband ordered the same. They had zero spice. I couldn't taste horseradish, lemon, heat, anything. They were beautiful but absolutely tasteless. We then ordered chicken fingers with Carolina gold sauce and tater tots. The bartender didn't know what sauce we were talking about so we showed it to her on the menu-but that is absolutely not the sauce we got. The fingers came out dressed in some hot sauce that was so hot I couldn't only eat one and had to drink water in between every bite. How were the tater tots? No idea because they never came, but she didn't charge us either. I couldn't wait to get out of there. It's so disappointing because they have a great location and could be doing so much better. Oh, and don't get me started on the extra "service charge" on the tab. Apparently it's some extra fee all the waterfront restaurant owners are charging? We won't be back. The Goat is definitely not the GOAT

And honestly I was really impressed with the back deck area, a pretty good amount of seating and a straight view of the ocean. The food actually was pretty good. But the service, like the other reviews I am now reading agree with, is this place's downfall. You seat yourself, then it takes 30 minutes for someone to comes over. The table wasn't wiped down between groups so we had a visually dirty table. Need menus? Okay 20 minutes after you sit down and then they will disappear for another 20 getting those for you. Then hand them too you and disappear for another 20 and at this point you have decided not only your drink but your entire meal because you have been sitting with the meal for so long. A cocktail, lemonade and water? You guessed it, another 20 minutes. It was like this the entire time. After we got our drinks, it genuinely took 40 minutes for the waitress to come back over to get our food order. It was insane?!! She was nice when she was there but as soon as we finished talking she ran off again before we could ask for refills or where the bathroom was. We were f u l l y ignored and ended up having to spend over two hours for what was supposed to be a quick beach day early dinner. We were starving by the time we got our food and were all pretty hangry. Tiny drinks, my friend's $14 drink was mostly ice and a massive orange slice, like two sips of drink in there. Got elote dip, which was actually pretty good but it came in a cup??? Like a drink cup? (Pictured here) so you couldn't dip your chip in??!? Like just a badly set up business. And had a small handful of chips, not enough for even our small party (3). They need a full overhaul of their system. I saw plenty of servers and the restaurant was a little less than 3/4 full, can't imagine how they operate when at capacity. In summary, not going to go back because nothing was there was worth my money. As a local, just eat at home or bring a picnic if you are visiting. (The only thing on the boardwalk worth the money is trying the "beach pizza") Upset about my $120 down the drain.
