Ambiance - A locally owned gas store / deli, you can order a variety of FRIED food, both Surf or Turf, plates, family style or a la cart. The only fresh seafood they might have is Crawfish, when in seasoned. There are three or four small tables to seat and eat. I recommend as order as takeout. Service - the staff were fast and friendly. With a steady supply of locals coming through, they ready to take your order. The deli section is stocked with a lot of fried items so you can get your food quicker. However, I would recommend to get one of their PoBoy sandwiches. You won't go wrong. You may have to wait 5-10 minutes but it worth it. Food - 4 Stars Shrimp PoBoy combo w fries and drink. $13.99 I would have given it 5 stars but the fries were overcooked and too crunchy. The quality of the potato of the fries could be better too. The bread was fluffy and toasty just as it should be for a PoBoy! The amount of shrimp was overwhelming. See pictures. The sandwhich came w lettuce, onions, pickles and tomatoes. No mayo. I ordered the 8" combo meal but they have a 6" size, if you counting your calories because your cholesterol will still be high with the amount of fried food! This restaurant is inside of a gas station. I stopped by for lunch on a Saturday afternoon about 3pm. This place was PACKED! There was a long line in there. I ordered 2 whole catfish, 2 whitefish filets, and a 3pc dark dinner. Service was ok. It took about 15mins. The fish was freshly friend and pretty good, could've used seasoning. The chicken wasn't fresh, it was warm and had a good flavor, but not fresh. Not sure I'd go back. But it was nice to try them out. read more

I got the famous shrimp poboy. The bread was authentic -- grew up near New Orleans, so I know my poboy bread! There was so much shrimp you could barely close the box! However, I don't like unclean shrimp and this shrimp has not been deveined. (I guess it's just big bags of frozen shrimp?) I'm weird about that, so I didn't eat it. But the fries were great and I plan to go back and try maybe some fish and some gumbo. I could tell they have good food, but what I tried just didn't work for me. I am not sure that there is even a sign that says "Seafood Express" out side but follow the directions to the address and you will definitely be pleased with what is on the inside. The place is basically a service station with a food place in it. I can only speak about the Shrimp Po Boy. But the Shrimp Po Boy is seasoned to perfection and you will receive a generous amount of fried shrimp. The Po Boy was so large that I said that I could not eat it all at once, but I did. The food staff is not in charge of the seating areas as they are the property of the gas station, not the restaurant inside and they never get cleaned. However, we were greeted by some of the nicest business owners and patrons of this establishment. The food was prepared after we ordered (no gas station heat lamp food here). The owner came over and spoke with us for a while telling us the history of his family and where they got their start. Pick this place because it has one of the highest yelp rating in the area, 4.5 stars with 61 reviews, 48 more than the highest reviewed Waffle House in the area and more than all the Waffle House in the area combined. I might have to rethink about playing it safe with local cuisine. This joint is located as part of a gas station. I should have turned around and head back to Cracker Barrel but I was too hangry to think straight . Finally met the first Asian person in Meridian. They have a menu of your regular Poboys including a soft shell crab one that we had for under $10!! Seafood Express is my now go to place when I am craving seafood particularly the seafood platter combo with fried shrimp, fried oysters and fried catfish. I tried their fried chicken and was not disappointed either.
