Jamaican music, chill vibes, open area and a good Jamaican soda. You can't go wrong! Locally own and operated, the small restaurant is just across the street from the Riley Center. Ambiance: 3.5 stars There are about 10 tables seating about 2-4 and a curve bar with 5 chairs. Great music and relaxing. Having an open area could get loud when busy. Service: 3.5 stars being family own, the friendly employees will answer your questions with a smile. Self serve on the drinks from a cold glass refrig - be aware is not unlimited. Service for food: about 10-15 minutes. Food: The Jamaican Kola Champagne soda was fruity with hints of spices, making it distinct from traditional colas. It is sweet and refreshing. The cashier said the Kola Champagne is her favorite. PRO TIP: Make sure to look for 100% Cane Sugar, not the High Fructose Syrup. I ordered the Chicken Curry w Potato Salad and Callaloo (Greens) 4 Stars. Their Mac-N-Cheese wasn't ready. Bummer. The chicken was hot and steamy and fall-off- the-bone tender. The curry sauce had the Jamaican spices and the sauce had deep flavors of the seasonings. Not too spicy either. However, it was slightly salty for my taste. The cold potato salad and greens help balance the salt. Also, It is stew based dish. PRO TIP: order Rice! Get the potato salad and greens. The potato salad has large chunks of eggs, split peas, carrots. The based was mayonnaise with a hint of mustard and spices. The greens were just as good due to the Jamaican seasoning. I wish I got a side of rice to scooped up the sauce. Don't' worry, I didn't eat it all, and there is rice waiting for me at home. Dining in or out - the food are served foam containers. 1st time here and won't be the last. Will try their Jerk Chicken and Oxtails next time. Prices are higher than other places, but that is the norm due to higher grocery prices. read more

The service was good, but unfortunately the food was very underwhelming. My partner got the jerk chicken, and there was little to no spice or bold jerk flavor. I got the stew chicken, which was just okay, and the beef patty was soggy instead of having the crisp, flaky texture you'd expect as well as the meet filling barely to none. For the price, I expected much better quality and flavor. Overall, the food was very overpriced for what we received, and I probably wouldn't return. It is definitely a generic Jamaican food spot. read more

What else is there! This place is so good. I could eat here daily. The food came out fat and hot like it just came out of the oven or grill. Just walk in and order at the bar area and they bring it to you. Really layed back atmosphere there as well. I wish I lived closer. I would eat here way more! Never a bad experience! I don't think you can go wrong. read more

Our first visit to the Island 601 did not disappoint. I had brown stew chicken and my husband had the jerk chicken. Everything was delicious. Hoping to try the plantains next time. Tried a pineapple soda and want to try other flavors next time. Great food and a super kind owner that brought our meals to the table (total of 8 people in all). Definitely want to come back and try the oxtails. read more

Was passing through and decided to stop and get some food. This place is good. Everything was delicious. The service is very slow and the owner / cook moves slow and talks on his ear buds while making your food. Meaning he is talking over your food. The ambience is nice. They have tv's for entertainment and music playing. I will advise to come eat but order at least 30 minutes before because the wait is extra long. read more

The food was amazing!! The menu was small. The atmosphere is simple and quaint. The service was timely. The food was brought out to us. We came in not knowing what to expect.. walked to counter where the menu was. The person at the counter was very friendly and helped make suggestions when asked. We sat down at a table and she brought us our meals. We came by this place from the yelp app. read more

I have spent a few weeks with a house rented with friends in Jamaica. We hired a cook for the house plus we went all over the island eating. 601 has the flavors spot on! The ox tales were even better than what I had in Jamaica!! The plantains were perfect. All I can say is I'm going back asap for the turkey necks. Everyone in the place was having them and said I had to try them next time. Run don't walk for some great food! read more

The owner and I had a dispute over a complaint I had with the plantains being overcooked, as I walked outside I was pushed to the ground and pinned down for serveral minutes in what I can only describe as a truly terrifying experience, I would still go back for the jerk chicken though. read more

Decided to get lunch from here today as I hadn't tried them before and I was not disappointed. I went for the Ribs with a side of macorroni and plantains. The ribs were so tender the meat just melted off and all three items were packed with flavor. I recommend giving them a try. I will for sure be a returning customer. read more

The food tastes great but for how much you get for your price I'd skip it. Plaintains are $4 and I got 3 slices. These were very small. Oxtails were mainly bone and I paid $25 for a meal. Save your money read more

Amazing food! Made to order and hot!!! I've tried both jerk chicken and jerk salmon. Both were worth the price! My favorite side are the greens. Today I had the jerk salmon with a side of greens and Mac (plus coco bread). It was the best lunch I've had in a longtime. Would go again when I'm in the area! read more
