I went on a Sunday for lunch. The place was packed so you know a lot of people like it. The staff work fast and are pretty accurate with orders. They cheap lunch specials. For food, tip, and tax it was under $20. I recommend the rice and gravy. It reminds me of my mother's cooking. read more

This is not somewhere I ever thought I would end up eating, but boy am I glad I did! The restaurant is located on the premises of a gas station called "Queen of the Road" in Mississippi, and brands itself as a "Truckers' stop". Naturally I was apprehensive. Walking in, the restaurant has a homely diner feel about it, you get a pleasant welcome and no nonsense service. The menu has a good selection of items, and Specializes in southern cuisine. I tried the half southern fried chicken with slaw and fried okra and corn bread, and I was very impressed. In fact I would say that it is the best and most succulent fried chicken that I have had in the United States. The prices are exceptionally reasonable for the size of the portions, and you will also find some southern charm and hospitality here. I'd go back to Mississippi just to eat here! read more

We were traveling to New Orleans and were ready for some home cooked southern food and Magnolia Restraurant hit the nail on the head! I had broasted fried pork chop lunch with black-eyed peas with okra. My husband had fried chicken with creamy potatoes with gravy and okra. Was large portions, reasonably priced, our waitress NW was super sweet, attentive, and charming. Food was great! Service friendly and great! We will note it as a regular place to stop. read more

We always seem to hit Meridian at lunchtime on our trips to/from Dallas -Anderson. Never found anything good enough to stop at again until this last trip. Not the best food ever, but also not mediocre. It was good, but just didn't have the "wow" factor. Service was okay. Our server wasn't friendly but wasn't rude. She just looked like she didn't want to be there. Would I come back? Only if Cracker Barrel is super busy....which is how we ended up here in the first place. read more

The quintessential diners, drive ins & dives truck stop restaurant and they were busy. The waitress was friendly, fast with a menu and got our order taken quickly. We got our drinks without waiting and the tea was good. We ordered country fried steak, mashed potatoes, turnip greens and home made rolls. The food arrived in a moments time and the portions were large enough to split, glad we did. Unfortunately, the temperature was not hot enough and the taste was a little bland. The rolls had a funny smell to them, so we passed on eating them. All & all, a solid 3 Star performance. read more

As far as truck stops go, not bad. Every piece of food was yummy and fresh. Attentive waitress, and good southern menu.

Just spent 30 minutes waiting for our lunch. 3 tables came in after we ordered, were sat and all got their food. Our waitress never came to our table and explained why we never got served. When last customer got what we ordered we got up and left. A shame as we were hungry and food looked good. Sad as there were no more than 9-10 tables of people with 3 wait staff. read more

My dad told me that he new a place nearby that we could eat at, i didn't think much of it but when we got inside and sat down i was amazed. There was good food, good service, good everything!! It was so great i wished i could've stayed, but nothing lasts forever, and the person that served us!! I like Magnolia Restaurant. Most meals are top quality. I usually get the yellow squash casserole & country fried steak. The hamburger steak with white gravy is very good. I also recommend the field peas. This place stays busy through most of the day. Many locals eat there, not just truck drivers needing a good meal. If you like home style food & the truck stop atmosphere this is the place. When eating in I have always had good service. read more

Stopped for lunch today June 6,2018 and was greeted by the cashier with a frown and a bad attitude. Waitress was kind but when our food was brought to the table on a plate the size of a saucer with fries spilling all over the table. Could not enjoy the meal for trying to balance it on the plate. Magnolia Restaurant 5/12/15 0200 Very good, 5 stars for sure. This is a restaurant in a truck stop. It is VERY brightly lit by fluorescent lights. The place looks clean and I must say that I was very impressed to walk in at almost 2 in the morning to find a gentleman cleaning the light fixtures and the air conditioning vents. I notice things like that and can't get over the fact that someone was taking the time to do this. Its All-American menu consists of burgers, sandwiches, southern entrees and an extensive breakfast menu. Tables are clean with a single fork in a plastic bag for sanitary reasons. The condiments on the table are an off brand but that is not incredibly important. There appeared to be a sit down counter in front of the kitchen, kind of old school. Ordering was fairly simple, a server comes to the table to take and deliver the order. I had a hamburger combo that could be ordered with either French fries or onion rings; I opted for the fries and sweet tea and added cheese to my burger. MWH had an order of pancakes. Upon delivery, the server let me know that the cook mistook my order for a double. Presentation wise, I was expecting a single patty but was pleasantly surprised (and not charged) with the double. The burger appeared fresh, the patty was formed in house and the fries were hot. In the future, I will ask for the fries to be a little better cooked as they were soggy but hot all the same. MWH's pancakes looked to be hot and fresh. My burger and fries were very greasy, but this is a truck stop and they are known for being a "greasy spoon", I can't say that I was shocked or disappointed. In fact, it was part of the expectation going in so I was not disappointed in that respect either. The quality was exactly what I would expect of a 24 hour truck stop restaurant. I would say that it is a step over other 24 hour all American diners. The server was attentive and checked back often to ensure that we were satisfied and taken care of. On the way out, I continued to observe the cleanliness and was altogether pleased. I will definitely be back and will continue to report on this establishment. Being a server myself, it is nice to have a go to place where I can eat after my restaurant closes; this will be it. read more

Totally underwelmed. My lunch experience was disappointingly nothing like the good reviews here. The waitress was devoid of warmth and personality, much like the food - except for the warmth part as they had just microwaved my plate, even the bread, before bringing it. The meatloaf would've been bland if not swimming in an overpowering tomato sauce. The vegetables were straight out of a Sysco can and mushy. Well, what can I say. I read about this place on Yelp and since it got good reviews, thought we'd try it. Went for dinner around 930PM, the place was empty. The menu isn't very large but they had what we were in the mood to eat. I got a burger, which was a big homemade style burger. Asked for mayo on the side, they put gobs of extra mayo on the burger. Also asked for cheese and they forgot it so I had to send it back. My husband ordered a grilled pork chop meal. When the dish came out, we thought it was a joke. The 2 "pork chops" were two tiny round pieces of meat, about the size of one of those small McDonald's hamburgers. They didn't even measure up to what one pork chop is at Waffle House. When the server came back we asked about it and she said they were small because they were grilled and they shrink. I'd never in my life seen pork chops so tiny. And for almost 13 bucks. She did go and ask the manager if he could make another one since they were so small and he said no, that they were all the same and if he did that for us, he'd have to do it for everyone. Well..maybe if the portions were so tiny and you knew that, give everyone 3 to begin with. They said we could replace it with something else so he ordered the hamburger steak with the gravy on the side. It comes out with..you guessed it..gravy on top of the hamburger steak, not on the side. I'm convinced the cook must have not known how to read. The server tried her best and I felt bad for her. Oh and to top it all off...a roach came out of the woodwork by the window where we were seated and just crawled down the wall. I love patronizing local businesses and not going to chain restaurants when I travel, but don't waste your time with this overpriced, mediocre, dirty-ish place. read more

Minus 1 star! Obviously microwaved chicken wings smothered in gravy. Half of each chicken wing was scorching hot, while the other side was cold. The wings themselves were mushy. Pancakes were nothing special. Lastly, this place needs a good cleaning! The dust on the blinds made us question why we would ever think to eat here! read more
