Wanting a late night dessert, I was told about the Cook Out, and how they have an extensive shake menu. We ordered through the drive thru, and the staff was a little impatient through the intercom, but at the window they were nice I only went through the drive through, so, I can't speak to the ambiance of the restaurant, but I will say that the menu (for shakes) is lengthy, and it would be nice if they showed this list prior to the spot were you ordered your food so you would have time to make a decision Some tips: While it was tasty, I might avoid the Banana Pudding shake. Maybe it was because it was later in the evening, but they were trying to peel a frozen banana at the window and then gave up. Food: It's a freshly cooked burger and fries, just like you would do at home. Nothing amazing, nothing bad. Just regular burger. Milkshake was great. Menu: The menu has many options, but it's a but confusing, especially for first-timers. Suggestion would be to pair it down and simplify the options. The counter worker got a little frustrated at me it seemed. But that's OK. Value: Value for the money is great. Very reasonably priced for what you get. Cleanliness: Fine and nothing to note negatively. I would recommend having a real tea dispenser instead of a hand poured pitcher at the drink station. Bathroom was clean. Okay, traveling through MS... I usually support local hamburger places. But the large double hamburger was closer to a small slider, the onion rings equally terrible, and the fried cheese was less than average at best. Lunch time on a road trip! Instead of hitting up one of the national chains, opted to try something different and Cook Out was it. The menu is definitely confusing, well worth checking out their website before hitting the drive thru, but on a road trip. Ordered burgers with two sides - fries and nuggets for one, fries and a corn dog for the other. There were plenty of fries to share (save room for the shake), one kid got the nuggets and the other the corn dog. Nuggets were total trash, unless you are in the market for some disposable hockey pucks, but the corn dog, fries, and burger were good. Shakes were the standout - with 40 to chose from, another reason to peruse the online menu to decide or try the Oreo Mint which was my favorite out of our 4. Would definitely stop again, milkshake was the perfect way to pass a bunch of miles on a long trip. read more

Ordered two trays Saturday night around 2am, both trays were supposed to have cajun fries but one tray was missing the fries!! We didn't notice till we got home and they were closed by then! Asked for extra cook out sauce and received none. And the slaw cup had maybe 2 oz of slaw was not even half way full. Growing up going to Cookout in the Carolinas this one (Meridian, MS) is a disappointment. Milkshakes filled up only half way and not mixed. Burgers were burnt. For fast food, this place is great. The food is good and the prices are cheap. They offer 44 choices of milkshakes. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Went to get lunch today, was rushed at the window and then realized when I got back to work they left half my lunch order was left out.

The first time I visited this restaurant it was in anWord amazing. The second time, just now, frustrating to be kind. I ordered at the drive through and felt as though it was a rushed experience and after completing my order pulled forward and paid. I ordered a double burger tray sweet tea and chocolate malt. Was handed one burger and tea. I commented that I had ordered the tray The lady at the window turned to the lady with the mic, who took the order and the resolution I was offered was this "well he aint send dat". OMG! I don't know which frustrates me more, the slaughter of the English language, the inaccuracy of the order or the pitiful resolution offered by the employee. I asked for my shake and was handed shake, tea, one straw and Zero napkins. Well, trust me, after 27 years in the retail business I can tell you that employees like that will ensure the demise of your business. No matter how good your food is, if the atmosphere and interaction is below sub standard, you can't compete. Wish I would have at least been offered to pay the difference and get what I ordered but all I got was a response that it was all my fault. No thank you, I will take my money elsewhere. read more

W3 ate there the other day and though drive thru was wrapped around to the street and inside was packed we got our food in a fast manner and it was hot fresh and delicious. Make sure you know what you want before going through the drive thru. I have been wanting to try the cookout for a while so I decided to go through the drive thru on my way home. Rolled up to the menu board which is very confusing. It's like a wall of text. I ordered my wife's food and "Hope" read it back faster than any person I have ever heard speak I could hardly understand her and it was incorrect. No problem, I corrected it. And went to order my meal and before I could get out hamburger the cashier cut me off with a total and prompted me to drive around. I said one second I need one more order. "k whatchu want?" Getting aggravated but keeping my cool I say I would like a hamburger with.... then I get cut off again with a total and prompted to drive up again! "NO I'm not done I will tell you when my order is complete give me one second I'm trying to find your sides on this wall of text of a menu" I was responded with a "k whatchu want" no help from her I just got double fries out of frustration and said ok I'm done and pulled up. The cashier was so rude wouldn't look me in the eye slamming the window shut basically throwing my order through the window to get me gone. I was going to ask for ketchup and sauce and when I opened my mouth she would slam the window and ignore me. Finally had to wave to another staff with the cashier standing right there ignoring me to get my sauce so I could leave. I get it it's fast food I don't expect much but geez it was so ridiculous. Second time at Cookout. First time, could barely get a seat because too many drug dealers using the booths to conduct their business. Second time, opted to do drive thru. I was the only car. I'm gluten-free (which Cookout can handle) so ordered grilled chicken (no bun) with BBQ sauce and a side of coleslaw. Clerk could NOT figure out how to ring this up. She didn't speak for so long I had to ask if she was still there. I had to repeat what I wanted several times when she finally confirmed my order then asked, "What 2 sides do you want?" I told her, "Just coleslaw." She replied, "You want MORE coleslaw?!" "No, just the one. Nothing else ... grilled chicken, no bun, one side of coleslaw." She finally had me drive forward. By now there were 3 cars behind me in line & they were looking impatient. I got to the window & asked the person taking money (not the clerk I had talking to) to confirm that the chicken is grilled, not breaded. She gave me a weird look and said, "You're getting pulled pork." WTF?!?! I got a scoop of pulled pork in a huge to-go container. In a separate bag they had tossed a side of coleslaw which was upside down so the dressing was oozing out of the lid and saturating the bag.
