Sampler Meat Plate with chicken, wings, sausage, brisket, ribs, garlic bread, sides, etc
    Nick S.

As someone who's lived in Texas for multiple decades, this isn't Texas BBQ. That being said... it's pretty good The restaurant itself is rather rustic, and the interior and exterior patio were decorated in fall and Halloween decorations The menu has BBQ options, but the majority of entrees felt more like bar food. I'm used to being able to order a 2 or 3 meat plate, but these options don't exist here. You can try any of their meats separately, and here's one option to try virtually all their meets The staff was friendly and greeted us. Our server provided us with stellar service The food was pretty good. I must say that I'm not usually a ribs fan, but these ribs were delicious. Even the Mac & cheese looked like Kraft at first glance, but it was very tasty Some tips: Order the Sampler as it's a relatively affordable way to try most of their meats. This platter is served with baked chicken, 3 wings, a sizable sausage link, 2 ribs, brisket, 2 slices of garlic bread, etc. you also get to pick 2 sides. And if you order beer they come to you in frosted mugs Cheers!

This place is heavily underrated. The atmosphere was fine, the workers are extremely kind, the sampler as well as the brisket sandwich were awesome! More food than we could eat. Best butter beans I've ever had.

This barbecued ribs were actually barbecued or smoked they were baked in the oven had very little flavor the butter beans turned out to be Ashley baby lemurs and the cabbage wasn't very good either

Came to Meridian, MS for a telecom showcase and decided to try Squealer's. I was pleasantly surprised. I ate on the covered patio which was nice and clean. The server was very friendly and attentive from my entering to leaving. I got the 3 rib with 2 sides(butter beans and green beans) and it was all delicious. Soda came in a mason jar which was cool. They also served delicious pork rinds like we get chips and salsa in San Antonio before the meal.

Driving through in the interstate and we wanted BBQ but not that chain place. So we found this gem. The menu is big. They have burgers and bbq and wings and lots of other things to choose from. All done well. And they give you free homemade pork skins. I got a pulled pork sandwich. It was good. My husband got the sampler. Let me tell you it was a lot of food. Brisket, sausage, pulled pork, chicken, ribs, and even wings. They were very friendly. Get away from the interstate and come here for lunch.

This is not a BBQ place. Nothing was smoked. All meat flavorless. Only thing that was good was the pork skins.

We had Felix's Special--Shrimp Remoulade Salad with a grilled pimento cheese and applewood smoked bacon sandwich on sourdough. Both were very good: fresh shrimp, and a well-toasted sandwich with smoky bacon and melted pimento cheese. Service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was pleasant. A solid stop if you're passing through Meridian.

Since 1870, Weidmann's has welcomed everyone from railroad workers and weary travelers to soldiers and hometown heroes, earning its place in Mississippi's history. Founded by Swiss immigrant Felix Weidmann, the restaurant opened during Meridian's rise as one of the South's busiest railroad crossroads. During World War I, the restaurant temporarily relocated to Hattiesburg to help feed the thousands of soldiers training at nearby Camp Shelby. One of its quirkiest traditions is the complimentary peanut butter and crackers brought to every table. During World War II, butter rationing led the restaurant to serve peanut butter and crackers instead. Customers loved it so much that the tradition continues more than 80 years later. In 1935, when brothers Al and Fred Key took to the skies in their airplane, Ole Miss, they weren't just chasing a world record--they were trying to save Meridian's airport from closing during the Great Depression. They spent an unbelievable 653 hours and 34 minutes--more than 27 days--without landing. They stayed aloft by pioneering air-to-air refueling techniques. Their record stood until astronauts aboard Skylab surpassed the duration in space in 1973. One of the celebrations honoring their historic flight took place right here at Weidmann's, forever connecting the restaurant to one of aviation's greatest achievements. I ordered the shrimp and grits, and they were outstanding. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, the grits were creamy and full of flavor, and every bite tasted fresh and homemade. Of course, you can't leave without trying their famous peanut butter and crackers--a tradition that's become part of the restaurant's history. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was warm and full of character, and you can tell they take pride in preserving this historic landmark. If you appreciate great Southern food and places with a story to tell, Weidmann's is absolutely worth the stop.

The lady working was so great and made recommendations while helping us make a decision. She was definitely trying to upsell us but I think it's because she actually loves their food and knew it was our first visit. The portions were a lot but the price was reasonable. I loved all of my sides which included potato salad, Mac/cheese, and cornbread. We opted for the sauce on our ribs and chicken which made it messy but it was so worth it. Give these guys a shot! Don't judge them from the outside, it smelled delicious as soon as we parked and we knew we made the right decision.

Ambiance - A locally owned gas store / deli, you can order a variety of FRIED food, both Surf or Turf, plates, family style or a la cart. The only fresh seafood they might have is Crawfish, when in seasoned. There are three or four small tables to seat and eat. I recommend as order as takeout. Service - the staff were fast and friendly. With a steady supply of locals coming through, they ready to take your order. The deli section is stocked with a lot of fried items so you can get your food quicker. However, I would recommend to get one of their PoBoy sandwiches. You won't go wrong. You may have to wait 5-10 minutes but it worth it. Food - 4 Stars Shrimp PoBoy combo w fries and drink. $13.99 I would have given it 5 stars but the fries were overcooked and too crunchy. The quality of the potato of the fries could be better too. The bread was fluffy and toasty just as it should be for a PoBoy! The amount of shrimp was overwhelming. See pictures. The sandwhich came w lettuce, onions, pickles and tomatoes. No mayo. I ordered the 8" combo meal but they have a 6" size, if you counting your calories because your cholesterol will still be high with the amount of fried food!
